You know the rules by now.
I threw in the towel for the moment on 1993 WWF. But fear not! For there is always WCW! And this one wasn't too difficult.
Clash of the Champions: Lost In Cleveland
1. Harlem Heat vs. Arn Anderson & Paul Roma (Saturday Night 11/6) I felt like Arn & Harlem Heat should be featured. Unfortunately the 240 pound piece of luggage known as Paul Roma must be dragged along with them.
2. Van Hammer vs. Vinnie Vegas (WCW Worldwide 3/6- Arm Wrestling Match) ***** masterpiece.
3. Rock & Roll Express vs. Heavenly Bodies (SuperBrawl 2/21) The SMW boys hit the mainstream for the first of two times this year. It goes better this time around.
4. Lord Steven Regal vs. Davey Boy Smith (Halloween Havoc 10/24- TV Title Match) Regal vs. Bulldog was the best of the GOAT TV champion's 1993 feuds.
5. Cactus Jack vs. Paul Orndorff (SuperBrawl 2/21) Cactus dies for our pleasure. Gets Mr. Wonderful a job in the process. Everybody wins....except maybe Cactus.
6. Barry Windham vs. 2 Cold Scorpio (Clash of the Champions 6/16- NWA Championship Match) It was between this and Scorp/Benoit. We can debate match quality but we cannot argue importance. There it's "The Lone Wolf" in a walk.
7. Dustin Rhodes vs. Rick Rude (Saturday Night 8/28- US Title Match) Had to have a Dustin vs. Rude match since these two were married to each other most of the year. I didn't care for their long PPV match and Big Evil rated this one the highest of their hundred matches so there you go.
8. Hollywood Blondes vs. Ricky Steamboat & Shane Douglas (Worldwide 3/27- Tag Title Match) Another one where consensus varies on what their best match was but this is where the Blondes win the titles so it's definitely the most important.
9. Sting vs. Sid Vicious (Halloween Havoc 10/24) About as big as it gets in terms of star power for 1993 WCW with one exception....
10. Ric Flair vs. Vader (Starrcade 12/27) Clear WCW Match of the Year both in terms of quality and importance.
Special Pre-Show Saturday Night
1. Erik Watts & Marcus Alexander Bagwell vs. Texicans (WCW Pro- February) These four were features of the syndicated programming I devoured. Of course the wrong guys go over here.
2. Robbie V vs. Scotty Flamingo (Worldwide 2/13) Is including this a troll move to show how much better 1993 WCW could have been even if I did like it in real time? Yes...yes it is.
3. Bobby Eaton vs. Johnny Gunn (Worldwide 4/17) Eaton needed recognition and Gunn was the only available 'name' opponent left.
4. Chris Benoit vs. Brad Armstrong (Clash of the Champions 1/13) Good match + Benoit needed recognition.
5. Nasty Boys vs. Ron Simmons & Ice Train (Saturday Night 11/6- WCW Tag Title Match) I misremembered Simmons & Train having their big match at Starrcade. I was wrong. Was also just reminded of how little WCW did with Ron in '93. Edit: Bumped this from the main show when Kilgore reminded me of Bodies vs. Rock & Roll.
6. Johnny B. Badd vs. Maxx Payne (Clash of the Champions 8/18) This feud was another staple of the syndicated programming I watched entirely too much of. This is the blowoff from Payne stealing Badd's Badd Blaster and shooting him in the face with it. Unfortunately the wrong guy goes over again. Although, to be fair, stealing a man's confetti gun and then shooting him in the face with it is a double dick move. I mean the babyface pretty much HAS to go over here or the booker risks being labeled a sadist, amirite?
*I'm happy with this one. I suppose you could swap Vader & Flair around to do Vader/Sting or Vader/Cactus, and Flair & Arn vs. Blondes. Or sub out Scorp/Windham for Scorp/Benoit. But I still think my card would prevail.

I'm using Baker's WCW as a template, and changing a few things to my taste
2 Cold Scorpio vs. Chris Benoit (SuperBrawl 3) I need this match on the card. One of those proto-Cruiserweight classic.
Van Hammer vs. Vinnie Vegas (WCW Worldwide 3/6- Arm Wrestling Match) This being unearthed in the old Match Review thread is one of its greatest moments. Truly a classic. The Citizen Kane of arm wrestling matches.
Dustin Rhodes & The Shockmaster vs. Shanghai Pierce & Tex Slazenger (Saturday Night: 9/17/93) A couple things, I need something for Dustin Rhodes to do (you'll see why later), and it doesn't get any more 1993 WCW than Shockmaster.
The Rock 'n' Roll Express vs. The Heavenly Bodies (SuperBrawl 3) We need some southern fried rasslin on this card. Phenomenal match.
Lord Steven Regal vs. Davey Boy Smith (Halloween Havoc: 10/24/93) Not too bad for a Regal match.
Sid Vicious vs. Leroy Johnson (07-31-1993) Let's face it, does anybody want to see Sid in anything other than a squash match? I don't. Leroy sells a punch to the gut like a helicopter is carrying him to heaven.
Cactus Jack vs. Paul Orndorff (SuperBrawl 3) Cactus bumping like his family is being held hostage unless he cripples himself.
Barry Windham vs. Arn Anderson (Slamboree) Rock solid professional wrestling match.
Hollywood Blondes vs. Ricky Steamboat & Shane Douglas (Worldwide: 3/27/93) I forget which is which at this point, so I'll just stick with Baker's choice here. They had a lot of very good matches against each other.
Ric Flair vs. Rick Rude (Halloween Havoc) This was Flair's best singles match not against Vader here, so here it is. Good to very good.
Sting vs. Big Van Vader (SuperBrawl 3) Not as good as Flair vs. Vader, but I think this way strengthens the card as a whole.

Yes! So glad to see this catch on and spread.
I'll need computer access and/or to come back to this while not donating blood, but in the meantime... an early stab at 1993 WWF's SuperCard MashUp!
Tatanka and the Smoking Gunns vs. Bam Bam Bigelow (w/ Luna) and the Headshrinkers (w/ Afa) -- SummerSlam
Crush vs. Doink -- WrestleMania IX
The Undertaker (w/ Paul Bearer) vs. Damien Demento - 1/11 RAW
$10,000 Rematch: Razor Ramon vs. The 1-2-3 Kid -- 6/21 RAW
IC Title: Shawn Michaels (c) (w/ Diesel) vs. Marty Jannetty 7/19 RAW
Bret Hart vs. Jerry Lawler -- SummerSlam
Tag Title: The Steiners (c) vs. The Quebecers (w/ Johnny Polo)
Loser Leaves Town: Ric Flair vs. Mr. Perfect - 1/25 RAW
WWF Title: Hulk Hogan (c) vs. Yokozuna - King of the Ring
Trying to find a better 'Taker opponent, need to get Luger on the card (maybe just his Royal Rumble unveiling?), would like to get Savage, Backlund, and Money Inc. on the card as well as some others. Definitely need to workshop this.

Found this...
The Undertaker (w/ Paul Bearer) vs. Yokozuna (w/ Mr. Fuji) -- San Antonio, TX; 1/5 taped for "Bashed in the USA" and "The Undertaker: His Gravest Matches"
So maybe do that, do Mega Maniacs vs. Money Inc. for the tag titles, and a Steiner jobber squash showcase (sorry Quebecers)?

And maybe change the Bret/King match to their 9/23 match in Portland, ME that was taped for "Bret 'The Hitman' Hart" for the sake of a cleaner finish.

OK, I did digging and decision-making and have settled on a mix for... PI's 1993 WWF SuperCard MashUp [Formatting to be added later when laptop access is possible!] 1.) The Steiners vs. The Headshrinkers (w/ Afa) -- WrestleMania IX *Hard-hitting tag action to kick things off and showcase the new, fun, young tag teams who'll be taking over. 2.) Bob Backlund vs. Doink the Clown -- 4/4 All American Wrestling or 6/20 Wrestling Challenge, whichever is better *Short little match between two good amateur-style wrestlers in a character clash to get Doink's hijinks over. 3.) Crush vs. Lex Luger -- 4/26 RAW *Need to get Lex on the card, and I like heel Lex better than face Lex, and might as well have him hear punking out a bigger-but-expendable name in Crush. 4.) Tatanka vs. Ludvig Borga -- 10/30 Superstars *Throwing Baker a bone since I'm not only taking away the Quebecer title win but also depriving the card of Quebecers altogether. Tatanka's streak comes to an end to put over a new heel threat. 5.) $10,000 Rematch: The 1-2-3 Kid vs. Razor Ramon -- 6/21 RAW *Despite not having the shock value of the original upset, I think this match was better and had a better build-up and aftermath. 6.) IC Title: Shawn Michaels (c) (w/ Diesel) vs. Marty Jannetty -- 7/19 RAW *The best Rocker implosion match? It got PWI MOTY, I think... Plus is gets Diesel on the card! 7.) Randy Savage vs. Jerry Lawler -- taped 9/28 for Bloopers, Bleeps & Bodyslams and Most Unbelievable Matches *Gets Macho Man and King on the card in a short but entertaining match. 8.) Loser Leaves Town: Mr. Perfect vs. Ric Flair -- 1/25 RAW *Important match that could serve as a reasonable sub/co-main in '93. Plus, this is really the only way to get Flair on the card this year. Sorry Bret/Perfect from KOTR! 9.) The Undertaker (w/ Paul Bearer) vs. Yokozuna (w/ Mr. Fuji) -- taped 1/5 for Bashed in the USA and The Undertaker: His Gravest Matches *Monster mayhem! 10.) KOTR Final: Bret Hart vs. Bam Bam Bigelow (w/ Luna) -- King of the Ring *Important match with something at stake. A rare instance where Bam Bam seems like a legit threat, and positions Bret to move into bigger and better things. 11.) Tag Title: Money Inc. (c) vs. Mega Maniacs (w/ Jimmy Hart) -- WrestleMania IX *Hogan and friends gotta be in the main event! Fun dusty finish with the inverted jacket becoming a referee jersey. Plus, 1993 was a generally weak year for 1-on-1 WWF Title matches.

Dustin Rhodes & The Shockmaster vs. Shanghai Pierce & Tex Slazenger (Saturday Night: 9/17/93)
A couple things, I need something for Dustin Rhodes to do (you'll see why later), and it doesn't get any more 1993 WCW than Shockmaster. The Rock 'n' Roll Express vs. The Heavenly Bodies (SuperBrawl 3)We need some southern fried rasslin on this card. Phenomenal match. Sid Vicious vs. Leroy Johnson (07-31-1993)Let's face it, does anybody want to see Sid in anything other than a squash match? I don't. Leroy sells a punch to the gut like a helicopter is carrying him to heaven. I get the thought process behind including Shockmaster. He certainly is very 1993 WCW. But that doesn't mean I want to watch him. I'd do anything possible to keep him far away from a super show. D'oh! Can't believe I forgot to include Bodies/Rock & Roll. I even had it written down at some point but then I must have blanked on it. Will edit it into my card in the Nastys vs. Simmons & Train spot after this post. I want to see this Sid/Leroy Johnson match now but I would still much rather see Sting vs. big Sid on a super show. 1993 WWF SuperCard MashUp
*Had a much easier time with this today. Remembering Dibiase/Beefcake was the key because now I no longer had to try forcing a Money Inc. tag match somewhere on the show. Only problem is I broke my own rule of no more than 10 matches thanks to all you Perfect vs. Flair lovers/Luger haters. 1. 1-2-3 Kid vs. Razor Ramon (Raw 5/17)
I think 🤯 got a little too cute here. Yeah, the rematch for the money was the better actual match but this is the memorable moment that is still often brought up today. The crowd would pop for the shock finish and hopefully remain hot all night. 2. Doink vs. Crush (Wrestlemania 4/4)
Doink was one of WWF's best guys in 1993 both as a character and in terms of match quality. This was far from his best in ring performance but it was memorable for the debut of double Doink's as the evil clown picked up what I thought was a major upset at the time over the popular ex-Demolition member. 3. Narcissist vs. Bob Backlund (Wrestling Challenge 5/2- KOTR Qualifier)Luger needed to be on this show. He's one of the first wrestlers you think of when the topic of 1993 WWF comes up. I REALLY wanted to go with Narcissist/Perfect from 'Mania but I chickened out to include that overrated Perfect/Flair match instead. 4. Ted Dibiase w/ IRS vs. Brutus Beefcake (Raw 2/15)This was the hot angle where IRS smashed the returning Beefcake's surgically repaired face with his briefcase in a move so heelish it was too much for even Jimmy Hart to bear. I finally found a way to get Money Inc. on the show and it's only one of the best angles of the year. 5. Undertaker vs. Bam Bam Bigelow (Superstars 3/28)
A get 'em on the show match since I had other plans written in stone for Tatanka and did my best to avoid using Giant Gonzalez. Poor 'Taker's 1993 was almost as bad as his '95. 6. Ludvig Borga vs. Tatanka (Superstars 10/30)
Borga ends Tatanka's loooong undefeated streak with one finger in a **** match with a ***** post match angle. Borga was now officially wrestling's Ivan Drago and he just killed Apollo Creed. This was pretty much the biggest thing ever to 1993 Baker. It's too bad Hogan was gone because I think I would have bought Borga beating Hogan at this point. 7. Marty Jannetty vs. Shawn Michaels (Raw 5/17- IC Title Match)
Again I think 🤯 was a little too clever for his own good here. This was Marty's surprise return and he finally gets his revenge for being put through the Barbershop Window by taking HBK's IC Title on the best episode of the early Raw's. 8. Quebecers vs. Steiners (Raw 9/13- Tag Title Match- Province of Quebec Rules)
Brilliant match right up there with Borga/Tatanka for pure unadulterated awesomeness. 9. Mr. Perfect vs. Ric Flair (Raw 1/25- Loser Leaves Town Match)
Famous match between two of the all time greats. I happen to think it's overrated but that could be because I thought this was bound to be a rare ****** match when I first learned of its existence in late 95-early 96 when it became perhaps my original Holy Grail match. 10. Bret Hart vs. Jerry Lawler (Summerslam 8/30)
Another brilliant match/angle (although I suppose we have to lose the Doink stuff?). 11. Yokozuna vs. Hulk Hogan (King of the Ring 6/13- WWF Championship Match)
The trifecta is complete. Borga....Quebecers....Yokozuna. Three of my all time biggest markout moments. Hulkamania is now officially dead. All hail the Foreign Fanatics! SuperCard Weekend TV1. Smoking Gunns vs. Well Dunn (Superstars 8/7)
Gunns were still pretty new and this was Well Dunn's debut. Well Dunn lost 2. Adam Bomb vs. Virgil (Raw 11/1)Gets Bomb on the show. He had a good look and some nice moves but never went very far. 3. Rick Martel vs. Owen Hart (All American Wrestling 10/24)Owen was a JTTS afterthought-basically 1995 Aldo or Holly w/ a famous brother while Martel had just returned from a pretty long absence. 4. Heavenly Bodies vs. Rock & Roll Express (Survivor Series 11/24)I couldn't include this on the main show. It was a good match but it didn't translate well at all to the northeastern/Boston crowd. The vastly different reception to this by WWF fans compared with WCW fans illustrates a major difference between the two fanbases. I once saw a guy shit on this crowd by writing something like "They sat on their hands during the best wrestling of the night because they couldn't wait to see four Doink's." That guy is right. 5. Headshrinkers vs. Nasty Boys (Raw 3/15)I wanted to include a 'Shrinkers/Gunns match to trim the fat. They wrestled dozens of times on house shows, and in a few televised six man tags with wrestlers I've already used, but not a single straight tag match on TV, so the stupid Nastys & awful Well Dunn get paydays. 6. Randy Savage vs. Mr. Hughes (WWF Mania 9/4)Yesterday I discovered the existence of that Savage/Lawler match a bunch of you included but I went with Lawler as my Bret opponent for structural reasons. Here we get Macho on the show but in a diminished role, which is true to his real life 1993. *It wasn't easy but it turned out alright in the end. I'm happy with this one.

I didn't mean to be cute or clever... I think I erred match quality over big moments (which was maybe dumb in hindsight) but I also felt weird for whatever arbitrary reason about taking two matches from the same RAW... And so I ended up taking neither of them, lol. I love the Undertaker/Bigelow and DiBiase/Beefcake finds that give us an excellent workaround to get Steiners/Quebecers and Hogan/Yoko back on the card as proper title matches.

*gets Mabel on his card but not Yoko, hangs head in shame... Plus dumb youtube for the wrong date on the Bammer/Taker match You actually might have had it right the first time. I hadn't run into this problem before but dates for 1993 WWF tend to be all over the place. I came across several sources with different dates for the same matches (sometimes an entire week off!) and soon threw in the towel on discovering which dates were actually correct. So, yeah, my dates might be off too. I'm going to try my luck at 1994 WWF & 1995 WCW at some point today. I'm sure I'll come up with SOMETHING for '94 WWF but don't hold your breath on '95 WCW. Then I'll do 1999 WWF (& ECW if I can swing it) and 2000 WWF when their time comes. After that I'm probably done since 1993-2000 is my comfort zone.

I've been going with air dates instead of taping dates. I'm not really sure how much it matters, especially if it's not in early January or late December. For as efficient as mass show tapings might've been, they do sure make it hard sometimes to figure out conclusively what occurred when.

I started working on a 1993 WWF vs. WCW supercard the other day when I was bored. I eventually gave up because like most of my cards it suffered from extreme bloat. I was up to 16 matches(!) and still had a few guys left that I wanted to use.
But I just had to drop in here to mention how awesome heel Doink vs. face Cactus would have been in 1993. Damn. That's my new dream match/feud. Easily my favorite match I booked for that aborted WWF vs. WCW super show.

With the wrestling business in the dumps the powers that be at WWF & WCW decided to join forces for a weekend of supercards with the hope of making wrestling great again. Night One: Midcard Mania1. Marty Jannetty & 1-2-3 Kid vs. Nasty BoysHigh flying babyfaces vs. big ugly brawlers is pro wrestling 101 and the perfect way to kick off this two night extravaganza. 2. Crush vs. Maxx PayneEither face vs. heel alignment works here but I'll go with brightly colored babyface Crush against dark, edgy-for-1993 heel Maxx Payne. 3. Quebecers vs. 2 Cold Scorpio & Marcus Alexander BagwellSleeper match of the night contender. 4. Tatanka vs. Paul OrndorffRelatively hot undefeated babyface vs. cagey veteran heel- another pro wrestling staple. 5. Doink vs. Cactus JackThe most dimeworthy match of the entire weekend and the match that kept this project alive. 6. Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Davey Boy SmithA solid powerhoss match on paper. 7. Money Inc. vs. Arn Anderson & Paul Roma
I don't think Arn & Dibiase ever had a match (or even interacted) in real life. This match exists to rectify that tragedy. 8. Ludvig Borga vs. Ricky SteamboatAnother awesome match on paper and the second most dimeworthy bout of the entire weekend. *Angle with Dusty & Lawler where Big Dust gets the better of "The King." 9. Randy Savage vs. Barry WindhamSavage was a part timer. Windham left WCW in August. So this clash between total pros is a perfect way to end night one. Night Two: The Big Event1. Steiners vs. Hollywood BlondesThe best team of the previous few years vs. the hottest team in wrestling. Blondes promos would only add heat to yet another classic match on paper. 2. Razor Ramon vs. Dustin RhodesIdeally I'd use Razor as a face but WCW is a wee bit weak on the heel side. So we'll have a role reversal from the Razor/Goldust feud. 3. Mr. Perfect vs. Rick RudeMinnesota bragging rights are on the line when these two real life friends (but few knew that at the time) clash for the only time ever. 4. Lex Luger vs. Lord Steven RegalA natural match on paper with the Next Big Thing vs. my dream fifth Foreign Fanatic. 5. Shawn Michaels vs. Ric FlairThe GOAT takes on his heir apparent. 6. Yokozuna vs. Ron SimmonsFormer WCW champion "The All American" is a natural Yoko opponent. 7. Undertaker vs. SidIrresistible force meets immovable object style clash of the titans. 8. Hulk Hogan vs. VaderAnother natural match up. 9. Bret Hart vs. StingOK, here's the thing. Undertaker vs. Sting was the dream match of approximately 0.00% of wrestling fans before Sting became The Crow. Taker's big dream match (for me anyway) was vs. Giant in 1996. And if I had thought about such things before that it would have been Taker vs. Vader from 93-95. While Sting's big dream match was Bret Hart. THAT was the match (I'm told) kids talked about on the playground. THAT was the match the Apter Mags went with just about every time they fantasy booked their own WWF vs. WCW dream card. Sharpshooter vs. Scorpion! Top good guy vs. top good guy! And it's main eventing here over part-timer Hogan vs. Vader. *I'll do 94 & 95 at some point. Think I did 1996 already. Unless that was on the other PW? If so, I'll try my hand at that one again, too.

For sure pre-Crow Sting is no dream opponent for 'Taker.
Neon Sting vs. Neon Bret in an early 90s Sharpshooter/Scorpion Death Lock is totally the only way to go.
Fucking love this two-day WrestleFest! Can't wait for more!
