Last one for tonight. Maybe ever I've been doing this all day. I'm bound to get exhausted at some point. 1994 WCW Presents: Clash of the Champions: When It Comes Crashing Down1. Harlem Heat & Ron Simmons vs. Scorpio/Ice Train/Bagwell (Saturday Night 4/16) 3 of these guys should have been used better. Instead those 3 would be gone in like a month. Sad.
2. Brian Pillman vs. Arn Anderson (House Show 6/25) Shut up. Yeah, I included a house show match. Nobody wants to see the likes of the Mongolian Mauler and Paul Roma on a super show. Yet they do want to see Pillman & Arn. So this is the compromise you get.
3. Dustin Rhodes vs. Bunkhouse Buck (Spring Stampede 4/17) What's with Dustin and forever feuds? Last year it was Rude. This year it's Bunkhouse Suck as ultra clever 1994 me christened him. This is the most famous of their 162 match series.
4. Terry Funk vs. Tully Blanchard (Slamboree 5/22) A battle of legends who can still go. Funk got a short term gig out of it and Tully should have too but WCW gonna WCW.
5. Larry Zbyszko vs. Lord Steven Regal (Saturday Night 5/28- TV Title Match) Larry Legend ends His Lordship's TV Title reign. Kilgore rejoices.
6. Vader vs. The Boss (Spring Stampede 4/17) Hossfest!
7. Steve Austin vs. Ricky Steamboat (Clash of the Champions 8/24- US Title Match) Steamboat does his part to elevate Austin in "The Dragon's" last match as a regular competitor.
8. Sting vs. Rick Rude (Saturday Night 5/15- WCW International Title I Quit Match) It's sad that Sting was healthy all year and I literally can't recall a single feud he was involved in. What's even sadder is this marks the end for the Ravishing One
9. Cactus Jack & Kevin Sullivan vs. Nasty Boys (Slamboree 5/22 - WCW Tag Title Match) ECW done better than ECW itself like 98% of the time. Picked this over the previous month because it's a great blowoff and we still get our Maxx Payne involvement as he comes out for a cameo.
10. Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair (Bash At The Beach 7/17) This was certainly WCW's biggest match of the year. And, hey, they pulled the trigger where WWF wimped out so good for them.
*That's it. All killer no filler. Not bothering with a supplemental show because 1994 WCW's undercard wasn't just thin, it was also devoid of any sort of charm. The only guy I felt the slightest bit guilty about leaving off was Orndorff, but he teamed with Roma most of the year, and didn't even have the decency to wrestle Pillman or Arn, so screw him.

WWF
123 Kid & Marty Jannetty vs. The Quebecers (Raw: 1/10/94) When I don't know what to do, I check out MachoMark's gigantic 4 Star and up list. This was on it. Don't remember a single thing about it, though.
Alundra Blayze vs. Bull Nakano (SummerSlam) I'm no lady's wrestling expert, but was this the greatest WWF Women's Division match up to that point?
Lex Luger vs. Tatanka (SummerSlam) Meltzer has this at 2 stars. I just don't know what else to do with Luger.
Diesel vs. Bob Backlund I love this model of a title change. Tyson style. Maybe don't do it at a house show, though.
Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart (WM10) This has to be here, which is a little unfortunate because just about everybody else on the roster had their best match with some combination of these two + Michaels.
Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon (WM10) Same as Hart vs. Hart.
Undertaker vs. Yokozuna (Royal Rumble) Who came out to help Yoko? Does it get disqualified? Well then fuck it, DQ me. This is not the best WWF match of the year, but it is the most WWF match of the year.
This was hard. Not a lot to choose from.

I'm happy to give you a hall pass that allows practically the whole heel locker room to interfere. My only thought is, if 'Taker/Yoko is your main... Should we send fans home happy with the casket rematch from Survivor Series instead? I mean, that way, not only do we get a face winning to close the show but we also get THE Chuck Norris superkicking Double J... Right?

1994 WWF*Not a lot of depth this year. I had been avoiding this one because I thought it would be a big time hassle. I even considered waiving my mandatory 10 (or 11) match rule before I started. Almost all the good stuff involved Bret, Owen, Shawn, Kid or Razor in some way. Yet somehow I knocked this one out pretty quickly. Perhaps precisely because there wasn't much to choose from so I just jumped on anything remotely competent
1. IRS & Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Headshrinkers (Summerslam 8/29) Gets these heavily featured midcarders on the show.
2. Jeff Jarrett vs. Mabel (Summerslam 8/29/94)My unwavering Double J fandom gave this the nod over the IRS/Mabel "big package" match from KOTR.
3. Alundra Blayze vs. Bull Nakano (Summerslam 8/29/94- Women's Title Match)Who knew Summerslam '94 was to 1994 WWF what Heatwave '98 was to 1998 ECW? Now I understand why it was Rick & Jack's go to rental. Bull's "flying Sharpshooter" was just about the coolest move I had ever seen when I first watched this in late 95-early 96.4. Marty Jannetty & 1-2-3 Kid vs. Quebecers (Raw 1/10- Tag Title Match)Unlike Kilgore, I remembered this. That tends to happen when you're on the verge of tears Good match though.5. Randy Savage vs. Crush (Wrestlemania 3/20- Falls Count Anywhere Match) Dumb rules but it's less much objectionable than that Lawler/Piper debacle from KOTR when it comes to shitty matches involving company legends.6. Tatanka vs. Lex Luger (Summerslam 8/29)Kilgore is right. Slim pickings when it comes to '94 Luger. I originally wanted to include a Luger/Backlund Raw match with a cool post-match angle but couldn't make it work. To be fair, this was a big deal at the time as an early swerve I fell for all the way.7. Diesel vs. Mr. Bob Backlund (MSG House Show 11/23)Like Quebecers vs. Kid & Marty, but shorter, and even more painful. Tragic. Dammit, Diesel! Why couldn't you do just ONE good thing without the aid Bret, Shawn, or Razor so I didn't have to include this atrocity?8. Yokozuna vs. Undertaker (Royal Rumble 1/22- WWF Championship Casket Match) Kilgore nailed it when he called this the most WWF match of 1994.9. Razor Ramon vs. Shawn Michaels (Wrestlemania 3/20) Including this game changing match was a no brainer.10. Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart (Summerslam 8/29- WWF Championship Cage Match) Yep. That's right. Summerslam, not 'Mania. I wanted to end the show on a high note. Plus Owen was much bigger deal by this time. We also get Bulldog & Anvil on the show this way.Pre-Show
1. Smokin' Gunns vs. Heavenly Bodies (Sunday Night Slam 11/20) 2. Earthquake vs. Adam Bomb (Wrestlemania 3/20) 3. Roddy Piper vs. Jerry Lawler (King of the Ring 6/19)

I've been digging through 1994 WWF results and thought I'd try something a little different... a themed SuperCard MashUp! I present to you fine folks... SuperCard MashUp: Tag Team Turmoil! **Men on a Mission (w/ Oscar) kick things off with a fun rap, as taped on 4/28 for Wrestlefest '94.** 1.) The Bushwhackers vs. The Heavenly Bodies (w/ Jim Cornette) - 5/8 Wrestling Challenge *Underrated, very capable heel tag team in the Bodies vs. an over-enough, loveable face act in the Whackers to get the in-ring action going. Chubby moonsault finish for the win, literally and figuratively! 2.) The Smoking Gunns vs. Yokozuna & Crush (w/ Mr. Fuji & Jim Cornette) - 6/11 Superstars *Serviceable and over face act in the Gunns serve as fodder for the dastardly duo of YokoKona. Cornette's momentum keeps on rolling! 3.) Tag Title: The Quebecers (c) (w/ Johnny Polo) vs. The Headshrinkers (w/ Afa & Lou Albano) - 5/2 RAW *Fun title switch that gets two deserving teams spots on the mixtape. Dub in some voiceover commentary to suggest that YokoKona are likely next in line to challenge the new champs, and possibly feature the KOTR tag title match on the next mixtape... TTTT: Tag Team Turmoil, TWO! 4.) Maybe insert Men on a Mission squashing Well Dunn from somewhere if you really feel like MOM deserves a spot actually wrestling on the mixtape. 5.) Lex Luger & The British Bulldog vs. Tatanka & Bam Bam Bigelow (w/ Ted DiBiase) - 1/2/95 RAW (taped 12/12/94) *I'm giving myself this based on when the match took place, not when it aired. Gets the not-yet-Allied Powers on the card, and gives the Million Dollar Corporation some representation. 6.) Bret & Owen Hart vs. Rick & Scott Steiner - taped 1/11 and featured on Wrestlefest '94 and Hart & Soul: The Hart Family Anthology *Dream match to determine who are the best brothers in pro wrestling. This went to a draw, so not the right match to close the show. 7.) IC Champion Razor Ramon & The 1-2-3 Kid vs. Shawn Michaels & Diesel - 10/30 Action Zone *I can't remember if this was for the tag belts or not, but let's pretend not or use our creative voiceover commentary to explain that they're a different tag title. Kliq politics get the Kliq featured in the mixtape's main event. Arguably the best tag match of the year. I wish I knew the vb coding to format posts from my phone...

How have I never seen the Harts/Steiners? Probably because it only exists on some obscure VHS...
