Merry Christmas and happy holidays, I hope you all enjoy the holidays with your loved ones.
Anyways, a few questions about this most wonderful time of the year... what's your favourite Christmas movie? favourite Christmas song? favourite thing to eat during the festive dinner? As for me, my favourite Christmas song is The Little Drummer Boy, favourite Christmas movie goes to I'll Be Home for Christmas, with Jessica Biel and Jonathan Taylor Thomas, and my favourite thing to eat is the apple pie after dinner.

Merry Christmas PW. Christmas has come and gone in Australia.
I've made a very convincing case over the years, that 'Go' starring Katie Holmes and Scott Wolf among others is a Christmas movie, and I reckon it's because they played it on network television a number of years in a row on Christmas night here in Oz.

Had a good run back in the Burgh from 12/14 though this morning. Traveling on Christmas morning is surprisingly easy. Back in Mass, for better or worse. But having a solid quiet second half of xmas. Hope everyone's enjoying/enjoyed theirs.

Hope everybody had a Merry Christmas. I've been busy with Christmas related activities since the 21st. Historically I don't get into the Christmas spirit until Christmas Eve. Then I always feel a little guilty about not doing more. I'm a terrible gifter, for example. Both from a giving and receiving standpoint. But this year I got into the Christmas spirit a whopping three days earlier than usual. So hooray for me, I suppose. Movie- Scrooge, the 1970 musical with Albert Finney in the lead role, is the GOAT Christmas movie. Strong honorable mentions to Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story. It is tradition in the Baker household to watch those three movies on Christmas Eve and/or Christmas day. I also like the old school cartoons- Rudolph, Frosty, Charlie Brown, and most Rankin/Bass. Songs- Little Drummer Boy is a good choice. I am also a fan of most Trans Siberian Orchestra tunes. Even my normally Christmas-music hating brother likes them. In fact, he and my Lawlermania Cousin went to see them in concert about a decade ago. I'd have went too if I had known about it. Too bad those jerks never told me. Carol of the Old Ones Bells is another good 'un (though Old Ones > Bells). Food- I do love my cookies, and Nestle's Tollhouse Chocolate Chip is pretty much the King of Cookies. Baking Christmas cookies is the one time a year where I live up to my Baker namesake. Fun Fact: You will not get worms from eating cookie dough. Trust me. I've been gorging on cookie dough for over two decades now. That whole 'worms' thing had to have been invented by the same party pooping parents who told you not to go swimming immediately after eating.

Hope everyone has had a wonderfully merry Christmas.
Favorite Christmas movie: Christmas Vacation would have to be it for me. Home Alone 1&2, Elf, and A Christmas Story for honorable mentions.
Favorite song: “Happy Xmas” (War is Over) by John Lennon, “Mele Kalikimaka” by Bing Crosby, and “Christmas All Over Again” by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
Favorite festive food to eat at dinner: Gingerbread cookies

EDIT: btw, the thing I watch every year is Mickey's Christmas Carol. Been watching it every year since I bought the Bluray. It's short and sweet and it's something I watched every year as a kid.

Happy holidays everyone! Having a five year old changes your Christmas so I mostly watched her open gifts. It was great.
My favorite Christmas movie is probably Home Alone, but every year I try to catch it, Christmas Vacation, and The Family Stone with the wife.
My favorite song is Please Come Home For Christmas by the Eagles, but I’m alsonprtial to I’ll Be Home For Christmas.

Merry Christmas everyone! I've enjoyed discussing movies, music, gaming and sometimes Pro Wrestling with you all.
These days we travel up the sticks to see my mom's side of the family where they put on a nice spread and all the boys have a massive game of cricket out in the paddock. Then usually around the arvo, my brother and I tag along with Oldy to go visit his dad who lives an hour north. He's had a tough time of it lately, so we put together a nice spread of seafood and wagyu beef just to make the holidays more merry for him.
My movie of choice is It's A Wonderful Life. Revisiting Bedford Falls is like seeing old friends again and the movie has never failed to put me in a good mood. Otherwise I mostly enjoy watching Christmas specials from TV shows like Frasier, The Simpsons, American Dad (so-so show, but the Xmas episodes are always strong) etc. One movie I definitely don't watch is Die Hard on account of it not being a Christmas movie - a certifiable fact that John McLane himself weighed in on and confirmed.
Back in the day, The Little Drummer Boy was my favourite song, so much I put all my relatives through a solo rendition of it when I was 8. These days though I find myself leaning towards the classics and have to put on Bing Crosby or Johnny Mathis to really get into the festive spirit. If I'm feeling frisky, I'll put on the Boss' Santa Claus Is Coming To Town and The Killers' entire Christmas Catalogue (Joel The Lump of Coal tops that list).
The stand-out dishes for me on Christmas are rum balls and wombok salad. I'm not huge fan of either, but they always remind me of this time of year.
Final tradition: I always try and play a Legend of Zelda game since one of the games stands out as one of my favourite Christmas gifts ever.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas however you chose to spend it.
Ours was quiet and that was a-ok with me. I have a Christmas tradition of watching White Christmas every Christmas Eve while wrapping presents. We also make sure to watch Love Actually and Family Man amoung many, many others. My mom starts watching Christmas movies Nov 1.
Stuffing is my favorite part of our Christmas dinner.
Music varies. My favorite classic carol is O Holy Night. Modern is likely Last Christmas or Brenda Lee's Rocking Around the Christmas Tree.

Pete reminded me that technically Its a Wonderful Life is my favorite Christmas movie, I just never think of it as such despite the climax of the movie being on Christmas and the annual showing of it. Christmas is so inessential to the story.

My two favourite Christmas movies are Elf and Miracle on 34th Street. It's a Wonderful Life has a really powerful ending and a praiseworthy protagonist, but on second watching I realised the bulk of the film is good, but not extraordinary. Meanwhile the other two films I mentioned grip you right from the start with great stories, and they end the stories in the best way possible.
Wizzard's I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day is my favourite song. I also have a soft spot for Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas Is You.
Normally I make a point of listening to those songs and watching at least one Christmas movie during the season. I failed to do any of those things this year. This makes me a bad person. I'm sorry, PW.

Movie: Bad Santa My wife and I have watched it every year since we’ve been together. We drink, smoke some weed, and watch it. Then we fuck. It’s how Billy Bob would have wanted it.
Song: “Holly Jolly Christmas” by Burl Ives Easily the greatest Christmas song ever written and in my books, it ain’t even close. It’s the only Christmas song I can hear every year without being upset.
Food: ALL OF IT Turkey, stuffing, gravy, alcohol, chocolate, you name it. It goes in my face for like a week straight and it’s the best.

What are we doing here? Movie, song, food?
Favorite Christmas movie (without re-instigating last year's Die Hard war) is probably Elf and binge-watching Harry Potters (even though they're arguably subject to the same "not a Christmas movie!" complaints as Die Hard). Home Alone 1 & 2 would be up there as well. That said, caught parts of A Christmas Story for the first time ever this year and have a feeling I'd really like that movie if I were to watch it straight through. Also, Christmas Vacation grew a lot on me since last viewing.
For songs, Three Ships and Drummer Boy are my jams. But I also like just searching 1940s/1950s Christmas music and letting those playlists play. Something about the sound from that era is just perfection to me.
For foods... HAM!

Movie: It's A Wonderful Life I think this may be the first film I ever saw James Stewart in, who has now been my favorite actor for a long time, so...yeah, he's awesome and nails this starring role perfectly. The best actor for a heartfelt Christmas performance.
Songs: Well I like a lot of power metal Christmas instrumentals that no one would know...other than that...the 'N Sync Christmas album is pretty good? I like Michael Bublé too.
Foods: Pumpkin pie. The only kind of pie I like and it's in season for Thanksgiving and Christmas! Even Denny's who has mostly terrible food serves a mean pumpkin pie special during this season.

That's interesting, because we actually went to Denny's for Christmas supper.
