Can their not be a single discussion about AEW without mentioning Punk? Let the man stay retired. Why can't the world leave him alone?

Can their not be a single discussion about AEW without mentioning Punk? Let the man stay retired. Why can't the world leave him alone? Because it would be the pop to end all pops if he showed up in Chicago for this. It would quite literally be Bash at the Beach 1996 all over again. I get where you’re coming from and I have tried not to think about it and just focus on what we got, but this show is such a huge opportunity if he is even remotely thinking about wrestling again.

August 31st, huh? Same day as I go to see New Japan Royal Quest in London
So I guess Moxley won't be on the NJPW show...

Nothing wrong with hopes and dreams. CM Punk showing up would make me a happy man. Even if it's unlikely, it is not totally impossible.
Moxley/Omega at All Out was kind of expected but it's nice to see it is official with an awesome poster included.

Incredible stuff. Great move to announce the dream match main event on the eve of ticket release. I like everything I see so far from this company.

Not sure even that match announcement played that much of a part. People are going for the brand and the brand is hot.
Just over 11,000 tickets were sold last year for the venue. Time to scale up a bit I think and try for 15000 or 20000.

60000 were in the queue for tickets in the 15 minutes they sold out. Extraordinary.

This really is so exciting. Even if I don't like everything they do, to have an alternative on this scale is just so refreshing.
I also think they have another big name lined up to debut here or on night one of TV if they're giving us Moxley/Omega this soon.

It's amazing that when WWE's morale and fan enthusiasm seems to be at an all-time low, AEW is rapid and exciting. I'm sure those elements are related, but as a fan it's nice to see.

Since Jericho is apparently the master manipulator, according to JR during his match with Omega, this is undoubtedly foreshadowing that he is trying to steal Edge's gimmick. This means that the new big name AEW has lined up to debut is none other than...EDGE himself, new and improved and ready to go with new advancements in medical technology (or he is just now a hologram) who will enter into a feud with Jericho over ownership of the Master Manipulator moniker.

If it leads to Edge just saying spear over and over like their feud in the E... sign me the fuck up.

I think it’s highlighted ( creative aside ) how fucking daggy WWE is. We’ve been sitting through this campy, out dated circus for years without little more than hopes and dreams that Vince retires and Hunter takes over. If AEW nails it’s weekly show, surely there’s a force of Vince’s hand, something needs to change. I think on a side note, allowing talent to work independents, will see AEW take an advantage. BTE has shown you don’t need 20 minute promo to sell a fight, a 5 minute viral clip of Omega attacking Moxley in front of 200 people can do just as much if not more to build heat. They’ll work the industry in their favour, on someone else’s dime mind you to sell AEW, you watch. Including NJPW.

AEW does not even need to do anything now. Everyone is reporting that people are now waiting to be able to leave WWE to work elsewhere to wrestle. That is what will kill Vince as WWE is already starting the us or them shit. And many people are willing to say ok, I will work with them. If a steady stream leaves WWE then the indy scene in general just gets stronger and stronger and suddenly Vince is up against a handful of super strong feds with his top talent.
If vince allowed his guys to work more indy dates this shit may all go away. Talent can now work select dates in Progress, NEW and some other feds, but he should just open it up to where if they are not using guys they can take dates with a collection of feds up to a month or so out. Then talent gets to work while getting WWE pay and everyone is happy.
Watched Mox vs Allin from NEW earlier (up in the Moxley thread) and another problem is clear. Moxley looks the best he has ever been. When guys leave WWE and get freedom again they will be putting on amazing matches. Matches they want to have in WWE but are not allowed. Eventually more people are going to realize if you want to see these guys work, WWE is not the place to go to see it. Mox vs Allin could have headlined any show and been a hit. And these hits will all have one thing in common, they are not in WWE.

Big Dave talked a bit about AEW and NJPW's relationship on his show, basically saying that there isn't one.
Something I didn't know: back when NJPW tried to do a big super show tour in California in January and had all those visa issues, Kenny Omega was still under contract for the first part of that tour. They could have used him and just chose not to, despite the fact they knew he was walking when his contract was up and didn't have any star power for that tour thanks to the visa thing. And AEW would have let him do the whole tour even if he signed a contract with them the second his NJPW one was up.
He also talked about Moxley not having the IWGP US title on him at a couple indie shows he did. He can't work NJPW shows on US soil due to his AEW contract (which is why he is in Block B and not working in Dallas), but he could have still had the title with him if NJPW gave him permission. Looking like they didn't. And they'll likely not give him permission to have it at Fyter Fest and Fight for the Fallen.
Annoying that NJPW always does this to themselves when they're given an avenue to expand into the US market like they always say they want to.

It is indeed a great interview and I was thinking the exact same thing Omega mentions about how the last three or four matches really felt different from each other what with the bloody Rhodes match and the emotional Jericho match and the action-packed Bucks match. I noted that this was really unique and it had kind of stuck in my head, but I hadn't processed how difficult that must have been to plan out and really pull off to give such a noticeable impact of differences in the match-ups.
It's also really cool that Omega has so much control and input into how the production is set up and everything. I thought them "controlling the show" may have been in-part just a gimmick, but it seems that is not the case. He was brought on board and is immediately expected to help out with all that stuff. I'm also very glad that he noticed the minor technical issues like the theme music not being loud enough and the camera work being a bit off and that he thinks those are easy fixes, because although these issues didn't detract from things too much...it was definitely noticeable and made me think the production didn't have that top-notch WWE quality. But it seems promising that this will be changing.
It's very cool that he just basically told all the Joshi superstars to show off what they're all about and try to get as much diversity as possible into the match. Although it wasn't anywhere near the best match on the card, it definitely showed through and led to an interesting match if anything. With that kind of attitude, even the matches that aren't all that great are still worth watching because at least they are interesting and keep things mixed up and entertaining rather than the same thing over and over.

Watches the first Road to All Out video, and it looks like we're gonna get Cody vs. Shaun Spears at All Out.
ANNNNNNNNND, it also looks like Spears is gonna be managed by an old Rhodes family foe. That being Tully Blanchard.

So we're absolutely getting Spears/Blanchard vs Cody/Dustin at some point, yeah?
I'm loving this angle. And I'm not just saying that as someone who is both from Canada and a big fan of Spears/Dillinger.
