I am still in shock that Jericho would want to work with Nick Fucking Gage. It is surreal. The insane fucker that did the first 200 light tube match at They Said It Couldn't Be Done is now in AEW facing a WWE legend who may be one of the greatest of all time.
Got to be surreal to Gage as he was a massive Jericho fan.

I feel like we're underselling the fact that NICK GAGE debuted on national television last night and will be wrestling CHRIS JERICHO next week. I still can't believe it until I watch it with my own eyes. I never thought the day would arrive where Nick Gage would wrestle on TV!

Also very likely the team behind Darkside of the Ring got Gage booked. They were on the talk is Jericho show a few months back talking him. Likely got Jericho's interest and if people have been following things, since he is facing Jericho it is likely Jericho wanted this match, since Gage should have come to AEW looking for Mox after Mox has been going to GCW to find Gage. Gage being in AEW and ignoring Mox is a disconnect, which makes it very likely, that this was a Jericho wanting a match and Khan giving it to him.

Granted, the talk of Strowman returning isn't new this week. What is new, is WWE released a new t-shirt for him in the last 4 days.

Is this just an AEW thing or is this how events work these days. AEW gonna be in my area in September, but they won't sell me a ticket unless I buy 2.

When they started letting fans back into Daily's Place you could only buy tickets in groups of 2 or more so maybe they're just still doing it. I would assume single tickets will eventually go on sale since they want to sell out.

My advice to AEW, I'm sure they'll listen. Unless Punk has signed, cease the potential guerilla marketing campaign hinting his debut. Because if All In comes and goes and there's nothing. You're going to look like absolute dropkicks.

If Jericho throws out the line, "the only reason for Gage joining AEW, was so Brit Baker could fix his teeth," I'll join Team AEW.
No more dweeb comments.

Interesting comments from Vince,
Speaking on WWE's earnings call today, Vince McMahon said that he doesn't see AEW the way he saw WCW.
Full quote:
"It's certainly not a situation where it's rising tides because Ted Turner was coming after us with all of Time Warner assets as well. It was a different situation. AEW is where they are. I don't really know what their plans are, all I know is what our plans are. I don't consider them competition in the way that I considered WCW back in the day. Not even near close to that. I'm not so sure what their investments are as far as their talent is concerned. Perhaps, we can give them some more."

I can see The Elite counting the TNT ratings and high-fiving. Then, I can see VKM looking at the collective worldwide viewership. That's the difference. Vince knows how far ahead he is.

They're enjoying the success they are having and that's ok.

It plays well for AEW to stoke the 'competition' thing but I don't see it as a competition at all. It's not even the fact that WWE don't call themselves a wrestling company. Look into the crowd at a SmackDown or Raw taping and then look at Dynamite - I'm not even sure they're trying to appeal to the same people. Really, they have completely different commercial strategies to monetise their product. WWE is trying to appeal to as many people as possible, even if its only in a small, casual way. AEW is looking to serve their core audience first and foremost. It's not a negative against AEW. Actually, I think in a world where everyone has hundreds of entertainment options at their fingertips, it's probably the best idea. They have been able to cultivate an extreme sense of brand loyalty by providing something that Vince McMahon refused to provide even as his audience dissipated - a core wrestling product focusing on fan service. As a result, PPV buys and ticket sales are incredibly impressive. I would imagine t-shirt sales too. But 50m views for a match on YouTube, that's more WWE's thing. Two completely different companies, and I find Vince's assessment quite honest.

Well, the AEW, TNT drama has been expanded on. Dominos complained that Nick Gage was cutting Jericho with the Pizza cutter in screen in screen when they aired a Dominos commercial. Gage apologized. Some other brands posted pizza cutter memes on twitter.
Dominos threatened to pull all ads in the future over this, so TNT came down hard on AEW about this. Likely nothing will change, as the problem was so specific that they would have had a right to bitch even with the mature rating.
For those who did not get the ad, here it is:

Figthful is reporting that Adam Page is no longer Kenny Omega's opponent for All Out. Looking like they're sticking with the stipulation and further delaying Page's big win.
Now we have to ask ourselves: was this always the plan, or are the anticipated debuts of CM Punk and Bryan Danielson pushing their plans back because they don't want them to overshadow Page's big moment?

It’s odd. Punk will overshadow everything for a while so it’s a very strange decision. The Page thing I’ve found inconsistent throughout though. Not so much recently, but at times they’ve made him too much of a loser. Now he’s hot and mega over, and they’re not going to do it. Surprising.

I assume they want to have Omega face Punk and Bryan before dropping the belt. Page is hot now, but I think now is not the time. They need to really ramp him up I think showing he is the best. The story is where it needs to be, but he needs some more big wins to show he is as good as the champ. Give him time, have him beat the best AEW has clean, then ramp up the Omega feud again. The worst thing you can do for an underdog anyway is give them the belt. The case is what matters, and they can easily extend his chase.
The story I would like to see is him challenging anyone that Omega faces for the belt to prove he is as good as Omega. Have Omega need to play dirty to win and Page win clean. Do this for like six months then start to have them dance together again.

No, Punk signing made them change up all their plans. They had plans for Bryan, but not for Punk and they did not expect to not only sign Punk, but have him ready to go. Likely Page got pushed back to open up stuff for Punk. And frankly, I am glad they pushed it back, as Page can benefit a lot from continuing the chase. When he wins it should be the biggest moment in AEW history, and taking some more time to set this up is not a bad thing. Having him win when two of the biggest stars AEW will have debut will dilute the win IMO. His win should be the moment of the show, and it cannot be if one of Punk's first appearances is at that show.

Hilarious news that TV execs are upset that Punk and Bryan will be on TNT and not on their networks. This was part of the whole AEW is not competition thing that Vince had to deal with. Other execs in WWE are upset that Bryan is now in AEW as they thought he was a company man. Willing to bet Vince is not so upset though. Punk and Bryan get big, he can release network specials and cash in either way. He may still be able to reissue the old shirts too.
