If this fed does do the rush to TV implosion we seen all to too much, it will really bad for wrestling too, as it would WWE that the best matches in the world cannot complete with branded figures fighting without even a coherent story.  Then again, so many people are claiming they been waiting forever for a product like this, so this will really be put up or shut up times for fans.  AEW fails no one's gonna attempt to fund something like this again for a decade or so.  But the numbers to make this work (based on being the elite views on youtube) and the media is turning hard on WWE or late so Cody may get some free publicity if the product makes even a little sense.  Rooting for him but seen too many indie feds collapse or nearly collapse from rushing TV.

Hardly seems comparable. What venue did wsx sell out for their ppv?

Different times and different approaches. WSX felt like it was doomed to fail from the start.

I don't remember much about it but I do remember thinking they were trying to reboot ECW in the lamest way possible and that the show would never catch on airing on MTV. I also just looked up the wiki article and they had contract issues before the show even started.

It's different now. Wrestling is mainstream and people aren't in the closet about liking it anymore. Cody, Brandi and Page were at the NFL Draft for crying out loud. And they've sold out two shows now, have a proper TV deal coming (apparently) and are locking down quality wrestlers and getting all the details ironed out before even starting.

You wanna talk about an MTV audience.  I heard that for WSX, they were CASTING for an audience.  Where only attractive people and models were allowed to be the "audience."

They certainly had some interesting names. Looking back at the roster, they had a few guys that went on to PWG and CHIKARA, they had Jimmy Jacobs who was crushing it mid-2000's on the indies, Joey Ryan and Jack Evans who are big names now, TJP before he was TJP, Teddy Hart even though he ended up being a fucking idiot, Scorpio Sky...it wasn't bad talent-wise, they just fucked up everything else.

Breakout talent from WSX was Seth Rollins. It was his first big break and he killed it, going to RoH shortly after. People shit on the MTV side of WSX but the talent side of the fed was insane for the time. They grabbed a crapload of the best free agents and gave them some really easy pay and exposure. They had some really great ideas that Lucha Underground then capitalized on like shooting a bunch a shows at once, focusing on camp characters and promoted a product for TV instead of live show.  Also it was the otherway around, WSX took a crap load of PWG guys and put them on TV.  What was amazing is how many of these guys then on to appear for Vince.

As for AEW selling out a show they cannot expect those numbers every show. Many fans flew in as there was a packaged hotel deal. You do not get fly in fans for regular shows though and it would be insane to expect them to fly out or travel a thousand of miles for a regular show. This becomes doubly true if the show then must be segmented for TV, as TV shows due to the time demands are almost always lower quality that PPV or live shows.

The for me is not popularity or talent but straight money.  The only way AEW works is with outside money, and they have not even proven this model works yet.  It works for two shows but when it is just another AEW will 10k fans still come?  It is not likely and when the fans start to die off, Cody will have to pray the money still comes in or the fed does belly up since he never laid the groundwork for the fed to support itself and costs are too high to pay based off gate.  And I really do not want this to be a flash in the pan as I love the shit these guys are doing with Being the Elite and the youtube stuff.

Ehhh I don’t buy that WSX was Tyler Black’s big break. I’m pretty sure him joining Age of the Fall was his big break. And I think he was working with Jimmy Jacobs before WSX happened.

They are also airing on ITV PPV in the UK, which is a big deal. Not sure what it means for WoS but would not be surprised to see some AEW programming on ITV's channels if it all goes well.

iMPACT never even got close to getting this sort of exposure which just shows how much pull AEW has with its money and names assiocatted with it.

People can bury their heads in the sands all they want but AEW is the real deal and is doing everything right so far in the fact its organically growing and putting the right things in place before it launches full-time.

You only need to see the state of flux the WWE is in in terms of talent in and out of the ring to know AEW has put the willies up Vince.

For the companies sake, he should take a backseat in terms of overall control and give it over to Triple H, but we all know that wont be happening.

AEW made it official via their Facebook page this morning. They’re on TNT.

That’s a pretty big deal.

Glad the tv deal was finally announced! AEW on TNT will be great!

Nope, WSX was their first major pairing.  Almost certain that is what he said led to the RoH deal.  Basically before WSX he was only used in NWA Midwest and smaller feds.  So WSX was the real turning point in his career.  After that he was used in FIP, PWG and RoH.  He only wrestled for 18 months or so before WSX.

If The Bella Twins were booking, there would be outrage, Brandi though? How many derogatory comments would there be about talent not being sexually transmitted, if Nikki picked up the book. But Brandi?

Well drama already. PAC refused to job on the AEW PPV or do a DQ finished so his match with Page was pulled from the show. AEW will air the Wrestlegate open challenge match from tonight show with a DQ finish for free on the net, but I guess PAC refused to do a match he was not winning on the actual PPV. In the open challenge match, Page answered PAC's open challenge then PAC got DQed when he low blowed Page then tore him apart with a chair. Reasoning is as Dragon's Gate Champion, PAC should not be losing to someone like Page. PAC will now not be appearing on the PPV and Page will get a new opponent. Should note PAC no showed wrestlecon due to vista issues as well, so now is 0-2 for appearing to promoted AEW dates.

It's what happens when you're called Bastard on the roster page.
