How did you spend your New Years Eve/Day?
Do you believe in resoltuions and if so what are yours for 2019?
What was your favorite memory from 2018?
What are you looking forward to the most in 2019?

Favorite memory was I finally moved outta Mom's basement in mid-September.
Looking forward to? Hopefully not crawling back down there.
I've always slept next to my laptop, usually with netflix/youtube playing in the background. Find it helps me sleep. It apparently fell off my bed in 2019. No damage except I had to buy a new charging cable. Not sure if that's a bad omen or not.

I spent New Year's Eve watching the ABC 2000 coverage during the day, and spent the night with my folks.

I went to work as usual. Only 2 other staff behind the bar, then just me and someone else after 11pm. Luckily was one of my favourite co-workers.We had a storm so the tills and poker machines crashed at one point. Cut 2 people off but the only person that got angry with me was a lady that I wouldn’t let push in front of a line of 40 people 🤷🏻♀️.
We made $6,500+ ($4,580 AU) in the 8 hours I had the PM till in, so the night was pretty much a blur with how busy it was 😂. Finished work NYE at 3am, worked all NYD. I worked 20 hours of Public Holiday rates this pay week (on top of regular hours) so payslip was great 🤑.
Now I’m on holidays for five weeks 🥳 WOO!
Happy New Years everyone!

New Years Eve was a bust. Youngest is sick, other kid is fine but can’t stay up past 9 without being grumpy, wife had a tummy ache and turned in early. I hung out in our dark hotel room browsing the inter webs on my phone then went to bed around 10:30.
Not a big loss, I’m kind of over NYE ever since the whole Y2K thing didn’t pan out. No robopocalypse, no RT.
Today was fun though. We’re in Ontario visiting my family so we invited some friends to our hotel and their kids are about the same ages as mine. Played in the pool then ordered pizza and played Mario Party. It was fun.

I also didn't do anything for New years eve, staying up late is no longer a thrill an more of a chore. I don't really have any new years resolutions. In 2018 I lost 25kg and put on a fair bit of muscle. By the end of this year I plan on having a 6 pack and achiving 1.5/2/3/4 with my lifts. (Anyone here lift and know what that means?) People say looks aren't important, but I can tell you dropping the weight made a big difference to the attention I get from the ladies. I am happily married so the attention isn't particularly helpful anyway.

The wife feel ill, and I had to rush home from work and take her to the hospital, we spent another 7 hours in hospital having tests done. Great. She's still not great.
But the best memories of 2018 - spent 2 weeks in the UK in April on a bit of a 'one last time' trip from London to Edinburgh, as we had been to London a few times prior, and I needed one last London experience. Literally got home, and the old man wanted to go to Europe to a family reunion in the Netherlands. By September I was on a plane again and for 2 weeks traveled with my 64 year old father from Berlin to Paris to Amsterdam and then around Holland with family visiting all the old homes, and family history and as much WWII stuff as we could, considering the impact it had on my family's migration to Australia.
I'm really just grateful to be in a position to be able to do these things, I know for a lot of people, it's out of reach. Yet, it's also a by-product of some hard work, some basic financial good behavior and some smarts.
We had a bit of bullshit going on at work in the first half, and for the most of us, we came out on the other side better for it. I'm sort of the opinion now, it ain't success, if you're unhappy. As I've seen myself become quite disengaged in the first few months of the years, and a colleague or two leave due to work/life balance. I'm happy now, content playing a supportive position, albeit still in a senior leadership/management role.

2018 was pretty uneventful, and not in a good way, because that uneventfulness stemmed from unemployment. Things picked up late in the year. In late November I got a job. Started work on December 17th. The first week was awesome, and my job has continued to be awesome in the new year. Nice office with good facilities, great environment, great colleagues. So far I'm only doing the most basic tasks available (mostly messing about with Excel spreadsheets) but even that is fairly stimulating. Also in September the new chess season started and I had a sudden increase in playing ability. My rating skyrocketed and I beat two of the best players in my city, players I haven't beaten before. I utterly demolished one of them. Feels good. Life is picking up!

2018 wasn't a 'bad' year, so to me it was a good year. My favorite memories this year were with Mrs. RT when we went to New Orleans. I was invited to a bunch of 'get togethers' for New Years' (old people don't have parties. We're lucky if we make it until midnight)however, I chose to sit and do nothing at home. It was wonderful. I don't call them resolutions per say, but there are things I'd like to work on in 2019. For instance, I'd like to focus on being more positive and more grateful overall/daily. I need to work on procrastinating less, making goals and following through. And I need to start getting fit mentally and physically and building up my savings(I'm terrible with money and food).

In the US with measly pounds, I think it's somewhat more feasible to achieve what I laid out. Maybe more like 1/1.5/2/3 though. Who knows... I haven't exercised in so long I'm ashamed to even be commenting on this. I should seriously start a PW Fitness Accountability thread to see if maybe that helps keep me (and whoever else wants to use it) committed to getting back on track.

I spent NYE with some friends and played Cards Against Humanity, and some other card game called Disturbed Friends. We had the TV on in the background and watched the countdown, all in all a fun night to just chill with friends and take it easy.
NYD I had to work but it was a good day, nothing really of note but nothing to complain about. I didn’t mind working because I think I got holiday pay for it, but even if I didn’t it’s all good.
My favorite memory from 2018 was getting my new car. Also driving up to LA to be in attendance for nXt Takeover: WarGames.
What I’m looking forward to in 2019 is just to remain positive and stay in good health.

I wasn't bragging and of all the things I have been called in my life (and there have been many) the word "humble" has rarely come up. To quote Churchill: “He's a humble man with much to be humble about.”
