Firstly , I had an idea for the presentation of the list where I wanted to put the original and remake side by side in profiles but it looked like shit so I'm just going to stick to the old format for now.
Secondly I am not a Bond fan in the least but I'm surprised that Casino Royale finished so low in the rankings and only ended up on one list. The movie made a shit ton of money worldwide and is beloved by critics and fans alike. So either less of PW enjoy Bond than I would of thought or a few might of forgot - either way I'm surprised by it's finish because I knew how popular it was/is.

I've never seen any of the three version of The Thing , not the original , the 82 remake or the 2011 remake (which I hope isn't what people meant). I don't like older horror movies and half my list actually ended up being horror remakes even if most didn't make the final top ten cut. I've heard great things about it obviously and I should watch it out of respect for Carpenter and the fact that the original Halloween is one of my favorite horror movies of all time despite the time it was released.
I love REALLY OLD movie posters and The Thing from Another Worlds poster is fantastic , not that I really plan on giving the movie a shot.

The Thing (82) made my list. One of my absolute all-time favorite films. Never seen the original.

I've been meaning to watch The Magnificent Seven forever now , it's been on Amazon Prime and I do like Westerns and LOVE Denzel - just have to be in a Western watching kind of mood. I've seen the original and liked it , one of the few older movies I've sat and watched all the way through but my old boss on a farm back in the day got DirecTV when it was still fairly new and discovered the channel that played nothing but Westerns and was obsessed so I remember seeing it one night and remember actually being into it though I can't tell you a whole lot about it.
I know there's a Japanese version about it as well from Kurosawa , which I am positive Emperor can shed more light on that me.

Magnificent Seven is an entirely enjoyable movie, more of an action/western mash-up than the traditional western of the original, but a strong cast of characters, well done action, enjoyable climax, just a good movie start to finish. Not amazing, but thoroughly enjoyable.
And if I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times...the Thing is THE practical effects masterpiece. I actually found out it was a flop when it hit, and has gone on to be a quintessential horror classic. Also, the 2011 version wasn't a remake, it was a prequel, and it was ruined by the studio who decided to opt out of the thing the original was literally most acclaimed for, and went with terrible CGI monstrosities (not in a good way). Here's a great video about the ruination of the film (in general, I highly recommend the "Exploring" series on Good Bad Films):

Yeah, I can admit, not really the biggest Bond fan myself, I appreciate the character, and I loved the games Golden Eye and the positively underrated Everything or Nothing...but I'm just not as into it as other major pop-culture phenomenons. I absolutely love Casino Royal, and in general, the Craig Bond films are my favorites. Though he's not necessarily my favorite Bond, the films all around, I prefer.

So the original Magnificent Seven was high on my list, and I've so far avoided the new Magnificent Seven because of how great the "original" was and how much I loved it. Seeing some of the comments in here though is giving me a little bit of hope. Is it actually recommended as a go-out-of-my-way-to-see movie? Or just something worth leaving on the TV if it happens to be playing?
Or, via direct comparison to the original, will I just end up pissed off?

I fucked that part up , that was meant to be your vote for Magnificent Seven , based on Seven Samurai. I clearly didn't read close enough and assumed it was the most recent remake. I fixed it though.

I absolutely adore the Dawn of the Dead remake , it made it all the way to #2 on my list and dare I say: I like it more than the original. For everything it lacks in the satirical look at society and consumurism it makes up for in bells and whistles and fun dialogue. Looking back now after watching both GOTG - you can really see Gunn's writing shining through in this one. I credit it for even getting me into Zombie culture and Zombie horror. It inspired me to go back and watch the Romero version , along with some of his other work and while I didn't connect to them as much I still respect them for what they meant to the genre and just how well crafted they were. Romero is a legend in the industry for a reason.
Anyways Zombies have long been part of the culture and holding up in a mall seems like an awesome scenario. I will always love the scene where they are sniping Zombies from off the roof and the ending and badass attempt to escape was loads of fun.

I think DotD made my list or if not it was my last cut. Really enjoy this film & it is what started my love of the zombie genre.

Probably my favorite scene from the movie , there's a few close ones including an awesome opening to the movie that completely hooks you. It's actually too hard to choose a favorite scene as so many serve different purposes but that's definitely a fun one.
Great opening scene to get you hooked right away , no bullshit off the bat - they let you know you're in for a zombie ride and deliver. Also special shout out to the intro credits being exceptionally creepy while Johnny Cash plays in the background.

One of the parts of DotD remake I liked is the scene with the zombie baby. Absolutely creepy scene. Yeah that seen was pretty great as well , it's something I'm surprised The Walking Dead hasn't done yet , especially because they've had a few oppurtunities with pregnancies. The motorized weapons they built were a lot of fun too , right down to the improvised weaponry inside. I think all this speaks to the fun of the movie , it's what everyone believes they would do , trapped in a mall with a zombie apocalypse outside.

I was really surprised how many people liked this film when going over the lists , kudos to you guys as this was a completely unexpected movie. I've never seen it and don't really know what it's about aside from the synopsis and it really doesn't seem like a film I'll feel compelled to go back and watch but it's cool to see it represented on the list.

UT, I won't regurgitate the synopsis, but I will highly encourage you to check it out sometime. I haven't seen it in a long while, but recall loving it both as a kid (for god knows what reason) and upon re-watches as I got older. I feel like it was an interesting story and compelling acting (a somewhat different character than what I was used to from Pacino). In fact, I'd be willing to put my money where my mouth is (so to speak) and outright suggest that you go out of your way to watch it. BOOM!

God damn that original movie poster - I need a mansion and more money so I can just start buying these things to hang all over my walls. I really have nothing else to add to this spot on the list other than loving that movie poster.

The Fly is great. Can’t remember if it made my list, but if it didn’t it should have. One of my favorite horror movies & Goldblum gives a great performance.

I ended up with such a longer list than I was expecting, and had to make a bunch of surprising/frustrating cuts. Without going back and checking my PM, I can't recall for sure but I think The Fly was a cut. Glad to see it make the list. Those transformation FX messed me up when I was younger.
