I wonder if this time around the D's get the clown car event with A and B team level debates.

Oh wow, just realized this board didn't have a separate politics forum. I have to first off admit that I do not follow much for typical world news politics. I regularly am naive to current affairs and have no idea what is going in some topics. But I do have to say this about Kamala I am glad to see the notion of someone new to the mix running. Something fresh. Not a multiple time loser like Trump was, like Hilary is and like how Bernie could be. I am also hopeful to not see a geriatric dinosaur running for president. Unless it was Jimmy Carter or Jerry Brown who are vampires that don't slow down. But still, it is a nice breath of fresh air to see something other than seriously old repeat losers running.
Bring on the fresh blood. I often feel the same way with movies. Who do I want to see play Bond or Batman? Some new kid I never heard of that hasn't been defined already. Someone I don't even know yet.

Only legitimate shot they have of dethroning Trump is Biden or Bloomberg. That’s how I look at it.

Wow this would be the gift that keeps on giving for Republicans. Kamala Harris is about as unlikeable a candidate as you can get, with her resting bitch face and grating voice, coupled with her complete ignorance of key issues (comparable with Ocasio-Cortez, but without the excuse of youth) Not to mention how she got her start, by spreading her legs for a married Willie Brown while he was mayor of San Francisco.

I think her behaviour during the Kavanaugh hearing will go against her. She was appealing strongly to the democratic base and those who will be voting against Trump, but for the dems to be successful they need someone to reach across the aisle and show that they listen to the voices that got Trump elected. Right or wrong, the perception many undecided voters got from that trial was Kamala and Booker were being as divisive and anti-Trump as possible and just trying to obstruct the process. I'm not saying that's what happened per se, but the perception is undoubtedly there. The democrats need to avoid someone that has the appearance of elite and disconnected - beating Trump will totally be about optics and not about policy.

Out of the people who have thrown their name in already, obviously the only two with any shot are Harris and Warren. But I still think Biden is going to run, and once he throws his name in it's over.

RT just clarifying that I can only make political threads if they are left wing? I don’t see Biden winning, part of Trump’s platform was that people were sick of establishment politicians ..so they ran one against him and he won in an electoral landslide. I don’t really see Harris winning either though, but I’m not very familiar with her other than from the Kavanaugh thing.I wonder how candidates feel when they run a race knowing they are very unlikely to win, Walter Mondale for example.

Biden definitely has a good shot. His iron was hotter 3 years ago, but I think people are sympathetic as to why he didn't run. Warren on the other hand definitely should have ran 3 years ago and really doesn't have a good excuse as to why she didn't. She actually has more of an uphill battle this time around. Harris on the other hand I've made my thoughts known. Harris running would be a godsend for Trump and the Republican Party. She is Ocasio-Cortez levels of ignorant WITHOUT the excuse of youth that Cortez has. She has a thoroughly unlikeable personality coupled with a sordid past that really screws with her "independent powerful woman" creds.

Kanye West was the best chance against Trump for 2020, but Trump wisely talked him out of it. Everything Kanye is infamous for..as is Trump. Almost like a mirror match in Mortal Kombat. RT just clarifying that I can only make political threads if they are left wing? You can make all the threads you want as long as they aren't race-baiting horseshit. How was it race baiting? I posted my opinion, people argued against it as is their right. Wouldn’t you rather people prove that my point was horseshit rather than silencing an opposing opinion?

Biden not being as universally disliked as HRC undercuts your argument a bit. Yeah I was under the impression that a lot of people wanted Biden to run last time and he had a ton of support. I think from a political standpoint it was smart of him to sit out though. He knew the last election was going to be a shit show. Let Trump fuck shit up for 4 years then come in as the Dems saviour and crush Trump, if he even makes it to the election. Harris is as polarizing as Bernie Sanders was and Warren will be compared to Hillary, or called an “evil socialist,” or just generally torn down because she’s a woman.

I think he made a big mistake politically sitting out the last one. The Democratic nomination would have been sewn up and he would have been running against one of the most disliked politicians ever to run for president. I suppose he could do that still, but the democratic nomination is no longer easy and the base may be moving to his left in response to Trump.
Trump will make it to the election. No one legitimate is gonna primary a sitting president with 80% approval amongst the party and if Dems think he’s a beatable candidate there’s no good reason to try to impeach.

I just feel like Centrist politicans like Biden aren’t successful anymore, Hillary said herself that she thinks not being a progressive hurt her campaign. Everyone’s either a commie or a right wing nutjob these days.

I don’t think it’s fair to blame Biden for sitting out. He was still grieving his son’s death - he doesn’t owe the nation an apology for that.
Biden is the only one I think can beat Trump 10 out of 10 days. Everyone else is a coin flip to me, including Harris (who has a lot to answer to from her past).
Report today that Hillary hasn’t “closed the door” on 2020.
Allow me to slam that mother fucker shut. Go. Away.

I'd vote for Hillary again. Sadly she won't qualify until 2024. But I'm totally down for Lizzie McGuire to become the first female president.

Nobody is really passionate about Hillary, she's like buying a Hyundai, it's a sensible purchase but you're never going to love it. And you may just have a mid life crisis and buy an orange gas guzzling Cadillac on the way to the dealership because at least it's interesting.
If the DNC runs Biden they win, he's likeable and stable. If they choose a progressive candidate they will get murdered in the general election, people like talking about change but it frightens the hell out of them when it actually happens.
People are stupid, lazy and full of insecurities, it's about how you leverage those facts to win.
Socialism excites people who don't pay tax... Nobody else. Bernie would have ruined the USA financially.
