Emma earning this match was pretty much a given when I saw the line-up on Raw; she was the only heel in that match they would feed to Asuka.

Obviously this is going to be Asuka winning in her main roster debut, but I wish they would think of some interesting routes to go.  I would hate for the main roster to relegate Asuka to 'dominant wrestler with winning streak' without a compelling storyline.  Obviously she needs to keep the winning streak for a bit on the main roster, so of course she can't lose here...but it would be great if they used this match with Emma to kick start a story.

Why not have the match never get under way?  Emma, with the help of either a heel turn from Dana or a main roster debut of Peyton Royce and Billie Kay, attack Asuka before the match and ruin her epic debut.  This sets off Asuka and then the story becomes Asuka's revenge on Emma and co., rather than 'Asuka has a winning streak and will steal the show when she wrestles Sasha Banks in a few months.'

It would also be a great help for Emma who needs a true feud to establish herself on the main roster.  Alexa and Nia are filling certain heel character roles already and Emma isn't like either of them, so pushing her further up the ranks would be a good move.

What are your thoughts on this match at TLC?

I'm really looking forward to this match, Emma is a great first opponent for Asuka to have on the main roster. Assuming this isn't a squash and is given time, it should be the best match, out of the three women's matches booked for TLC.

She'll kill Emma right in the middle of that ring. Unfortunately.

However, I'd love a swerve. Emma is fantastic. Because I enjoy fantasy booking convoluted storylines, I would have Alexa Bliss interfere in the match, costing Asuka the match for her first loss. Emma and Alexa would beat down Asuka and totally bury her, because fuck you internet.

Mickie James would make the save attempt and when order is restored, we transition straight in Bliss v James. Emma interferes and Bliss retains. The crowd begs for Asuka, she makes the save. This way, instead of just another throw away victory, we establish an emotional connection with Asuka - we want to see her get revenge on Emma and, more importantly Bliss.

Remembering Asuka can't talk. Bliss can. Alexa will carry this feud. There's more to wrestling than just squashing jobbers at Full Sail.

I admire the creativity around the internet, including here, in trying to book this interestingly. To me, sometimes to obvious option is the best option. I love Emma as much as the next guy, but Asuka has to win this and convincingly and there be no shenanigans. Establishing Asuka, who could legitimately main event pay-per-views if they do it right, is the most important factor in this match.

I would love for them to do something creative with her debut. A new star debuting beating a jobber was something I despised about the brand split era. It was just so boring.

And this is why crowds of more than a few hundred people at full sail will get bored with her sooner than later. And why the WWE writers will fuck her up. 

Was that the most "comeback" Asuka ever had to fight for? Honestly have tuned out a lot of her work in NXT after a while, but don't remember her being on the defense as much. Just assumed that was main roster babyface STRAIGHT FIRAHHHHHHH, but it was quite noticeable compared to before.

I didn't want her to run through Emma like a Goldberg squash and am kinda glad Emma got time to shine (in her first singles PPV apparently) but it kinda didn't help Asuka in her debut barley getting past her.

Will start with the good Emma and Asuka was a very enjoyable match. The problem was both their past booking. Emma until like the last month was a jobber. Sasha and Nia Jax have both beat her like it was nothing. Coming from someone who doesn't watch nXt I hear the announcer and the ads building her up like someone who is going to dominate everyone. Then Emma has probably her best showing to date on the main roster and look to nearly beat her.

In a match meant to showcase Asuka it seem to do more for Emma.

I guess, the booking of the match is to differentiate the level of talent in NXT v The Main Roster. Which is good. I've always felt, they need to make it very clear that the talent on the main roster is above and beyond that of their development territory.

And, there's maybe 10 women on the RAW roster. And maybe 5 that matter. If Asuka is going to be a feature, they'll need to spread out these matches.

For the next several weeks, they'll probably just put Asuka up against PC talent on RAW. They'll give her the Braun Strowman treatment, by destroying enhancement talent.

Well, at this point, we can safely say that Asuka is fucked.
