Are you reading anything currently, if so what is it?
What are your favourite books/Do you have any recommendations?
My favourite fictional books are the “A Series of Unfortunate Events” books, I grew up reading these as opposed to Harry Potter. Standalone would be “The Giver” a book I had to read in high school that I actually enjoyed.
I mostly read non fiction now as my imagination while reading is so bad that when I read fiction it’s normally the book of a movie I’ve seen 😂.
The last few I read were all autobiographies or political books and out of those i’d definitely recommend “The Disaster Artist” (even if you have seen the movie) really interesting read on the making of “The Room” and Greg & Tommy’s bizarre friendship.

Last night I just finished thesportsgene.com/Just started this morning www.amazon.com/Leg-Stand-Oliver-Sacks/dp/0684853957I read almost exclusively non-fiction. I've read about almost all the massive disasters in American history, fires, floods, mine explosions etc. I've discussed my fandom for Malcolm Gladwell here before. Also a fan boy for Chuck Klosterman and Oliver Sacks. I read a lot into certain subjects. Evolutionary science/biology/psych. Lots of stuff that spins around futurism and abundance. I am all over the place in my reading. The one book I read really recently I would love to talk to someone else who read it is. I mentioned it before in a thread recently. stealingfirebook.com/

I have two books sitting on the shelf waiting to be read, Return of the King about Lebron James return to Cleveland and Homicide by David Simon about Baltimore cops in the early 90’s, just seems that I always grab something else.
I enjoy both, but tend to read more non-fiction. I read everything by Gladwell, though each book seems to be less impactful for me than the one before it. I can really get obsessive about a good fiction book, but I rarely seek them out. I don’t think I’ve read one since The Art of Fielding came out.

My goal is to read a fiction and non-fiction book each month. My novels tend to be silly thrillers or something that jumps out to me (I just read a superhero novel called "Soon I Will Be Invincible" because, well, superheroes).
The non-fiction tend to be business-centric, economic, political or biographies. I'm reading "Money: The Unauthorized Biography" right now. It's dry as toast, but I've put too much time into it to give up.
I have about six books in the queue now. One of my resolutions was to read 25 books this year.

I used to read a lot. Always had my nose in a book from childhood up until about two years ago. A lifetime of reading books came to a screeching halt when I finally upgraded to a smart phone in November 2016. Think I've only read three books since then. Now I spend all my free time playing with my phone rather than reading. Technology wins and I suck.

I read sci fi / fantasy books. I have an hour bus ride to work and back and often get time at work to read. I usually read a few books per month.
The last year I've read all of Terry goodkind 'sword of truth' series. I'm on book 23 in the series right now.
Just finished the first two books of Brandon sanderson's series. I really enjoyed Brent weeks as well.
I usually stay well within the sci fi fantasy genre. I read as a relaxing distraction, so not into over challenging books or non fiction.

I read a lot. Always have one or two books on the go.
The two most recent books I finished are George Orwell's 1984 and David Nicholl's One Day. David Nicholls being the guy who wrote Starter For Ten which caused a fuss in the current movie countdown. Both books are fantastic, albeit completely different in tone and writing style.
Now I'm reading Stephen King's Cell. The blurb sounded really interesting, but I'm about halfway through the book and it's more or less a standard zombie apocalypse story. However my prejudice against zombie stories is overcome by King's fantastic writing and characters, so I'm having a good time. Still a long way to go though.
Also making steady progress through my Sherlock Holmes collection.

I don't sit down to read a lot these days, mostly when travelling. Up until a couple of years ago I read a lot of fiction, mostly Tom Clancy, Clive Cussler sort of fiction. These days I read non-fiction, some biographies but mostly science, theology and business... I'm weird.

Why not try the Kindle app? It's available for any smart phone and you can either do Kindle Unlimited or buy digital books. My virtual library probably now outnumbers my physical one. Now on the subject of books, I'm currently reading about reincarnation and living past lives. There are actual proven stories and studies that agree that there may be in fact something to it. A couple of books by Michael Newton who has a PH.D in it are great reads. Soul Survivor is a great one to ease your way into the subject. It's a true account of a kid who remembered his previous life as a WWII fighter pilot. His father was raised Christian and refused to believe it until he was convinced by the overwhelming evidence that the son provided. It's by Andrea Leininger. Another one is by Richard Bullivant. Also Jim Tucker who is a M.D. My other books run the gauntlet of whatever mood I feel like at the time being. I'm a Stephen King fan. I like true crime stories. Especially Joe Kenda. His book like his show is fascinating.

Finished reading Battle Royale last night, my gf bought it for me years ago and I only just got around to reading it. Fantastic book, annoyed I waited so long. One of the most influential books ever considering how many films and games it inspired. There’s a part where it jokes about “hey imagine this as a video game” (written in 1996) if only the author knew of the Battle Royale game craze to come 😂.,
In saying that it definitely helped that I had seen the film first and even then it’s a bit hard to follow at times. It jumps back and forth between characters and they’ll sometimes refer to them by their first/last names instead. EG There’s Shinji,Shuya,Shogo and other similar names that it alternates between. It also helped with imagining the island etc and the zones were.

Has anyone here read IT by Stephen King? If so, I’m guessing the pages being out of order is intentional? Like it will be page 401,402,357,358,405,406 and so forth with diffetent parts all over the place. I’ve tried googling it with no answer, really putting me off reading any further tbh. http://instagram.com/p/BuberE7gNHg Anyway had a competition as to who could read the most books (via page count) in February with my gf as we keep buying books and not reading most of them. I won at 2,505 pages (She got up to 1,357)

It's been a while since I read It but I don't remember it jumping around at an incomprehensible pace. I know there are two timelines in parallel, but I didn't find it that hard to follow.

FYI- Battle Royale is one of the few fiction books I really enjoyed. I gave all the characters nicknames so I could follow the names.
Currently reading Tommy Caldwell's Push.

There must be a bum copy of 'It' going around. I've got my copy open right now. After page 402 is 403, than 404, then 405, and so on. That one must have been printed very badly

Wow you stuck at it a very long time  Good effort.
As I recall, the chapters alternate between the characters as kids and the characters as adults. It certainly doesn't alternate page by page.
