Imagine you have to pick one player to play all the positions of football both offense and defense and even kicking. So you have 11 of 1 player on a team. Who would you pick to play?
Similar in basketball 5 of 1. Who would pick as your one guy to clone and play 5 of at a time?

Aaron Rodgers is the answer to both questions.
So you want the one player who you feel could play all the positions? That's damn near impossible - unless you want to go down the line and pick guys who could play both positions. Are we talking all time? Whats the deal here?
Basketball the answer is easy. It's Lebron. His size , speed , passing and shooting combination really makes him at least viable at every position.

Yes, one player cloned to play all the positions at all the time. Yes, it's damn near impossible. All time, sure. Why not? 11 Walter Paytons, vs 11 Bo Jacksons or what have you.

I want to see 11 Aaron Donald's vs 11 JJ Watts.
11 Deion Sanders vs 11 Randy Moss's would also be a treat. Just to see the athleticism.

I still don't understand the question really , because it's impossible to judge. You can't put 11 Deion Sanders vs Reggie Whites out there because they are different kind of athletes. It feels like you are simply asking who the best pound for pound athlete in the NFL is/was and there are a ton of answers to that.
As for pure athletes go: Deion Sanders , Randy Moss , Sean Taylor , Ronnie Lott , Gale Sayers , Michael Vick etc would all have a chance to win. Sean Taylor was young but is one of the best size/speed/power combinations you are going to find. You can then go to linebackers like LT , Ray Lewis , Derrick Brooks and find some incredible athletes as well. Defensive linemen like Julius Peppers was an INCREDIBLE athlete , Ladainan as a RB was a great all around athlete.
There is too many ways to frame this question. Do you value speed or power?

I'm going to do something a little different for an exercise , and out of curiosity of what I come up with off the top of my head. My all 11 Two Way Team -
QB/SS - Randall Cunningham - He's got the athleticism to play in the secondary I think , plus was a good QB. One of the better combinations you'll find.
RB/FS - Ed Reed - Was a marvel with the ball in his hands so I think he could play running back , along with being one of the best safeties ever.
WR/CB - Deion Sanders - An obvious choice with his speed and the fact he already played two ways. Elite Cornerback who I think could be a really good receiver.
WR/CB - Tyreek Hill - Might seem like a weird choice but he has the speed to catch up to anyone and we need some offensive players on this team. Probably better choices out there but Hill is a fun one.
FB/MLB - Mike Singeltary - I think he could do this , student of the game and as fierce as they come.
TE/OLB - Lawrence Taylor - Just really so I don't have to listen to The Real LT complain about not having Taylor on here. He was an incredible athlete though.
OT/DE - Reggie White - Come on he has to be here. OG/DT - Larry Allen - Need an offensive linemen in here and Allen could at least be a dominant nose tackle. OC/DT - Aaron Donald - He's a little undersize which would make him a center and probably a great one. OG/DE - JJ Watt - I think he might be a little long but I think he could make it work plus I need to find room for this fucked up team. OT/OLB - Julius Peppers - I think he could do it , he weighed 290 while playing and being an awesome OLB in Green Bay. Best size and speed combo left.
That was a little tougher than I thought it'd be. Crazy that it was so hard to envision offensive guys playing defense and the natrual instinct and seemingly better all around athletes all played defense. I mean if I was doing this right , the Tyreek Hill spot would go to Darrell Green or Ronnie Lott but I had to shoehorn a few offensive guys in there.

I guess a different stoner thought would be playing a NFL game where you had to pick one player to play all the positions and see which player you could make it the furthest with. But I think you would likely still get squashed by the worst team.
Playing 5 Lebrons in a NBA game would probably work.

I think you'd have to have someone with some size on them since the game really begins/ends in the trenches, if you can't win the line of scrimmage battle you can't win a game, so you'd need somebody with some beef that can also make tackles on defense and be able to score touchdowns somehow on offense. The answer is pretty clearly The Man... JJ Watt. He would dominate the defensive line and be pretty good in the linebacker position, I mean you would have 11 JJ Watts coming at you on defense, I mean just think about that, nobody will be able to run the ball or have any time to throw the ball so defense is covered even with 11 Bo Jackson's on the other side of the ball. Prime Watt is the answer to this question.

Would anyone say 5 Jordan's beats 5 LeBron s? I’m on the Jordan side of the Goat debate but I think Team Lebron ultimately wins that one.

Odell Beckham had a perfect passer rating this season and that's without the benefit of throwing himself the ball.

Since the actual football things is so ridiculous, I want to chime in on the basketball one.
5 MJs would absolutely beat 5 Lebrons. The only 5 of a player that might beat 5 MJs is 5 Kobe’s. You’re not remembering why those two were assassins. If Lebron was using his body on them, they would’ve found a way to counter. They would’ve audibled. This isn’t just in 1 on 1, clones vs clones but this is in the GOAT discussion.
Say what you want but I STILL can’t put Lebron ahead of Kobe. Not with a 3-6 Finals ranking. It’s just not fair to the players in a physical AND mental way that MJ and Kobe were.

That’s a great stat that I didn’t know about. How many of those games were playoff games? None probably. Give the players a reason to play in this Clone Wars and there is no doubt in my mind who wins.
I’d still take Kobe.

I'd take Kobe in a 1v1 but at the end of the day Lebron can do more things on the court than Kobe can. That's more valuable in a 5v5

Maybe you’re right. Maybe the argument to win this case of a hypothetical 5 on 5 is; “Would Kobe pass Kobe the ball?”

Maybe you’re right. Maybe the argument to win this case of a hypothetical 5 on 5 is; “Would Kobe pass Kobe the ball?” Similarly when we talked about it in the office last night, Lebron would probably be the least self destructive team. 5 competitive hateful Jordans would likely self destruct.

Maybe you’re right. Maybe the argument to win this case of a hypothetical 5 on 5 is; “Would Kobe pass Kobe the ball?” That's hilarious. 5 MJs vs 5 LeBrons is such a fun thing to consider. Both are absolute beasts on offense in every sense of the word. It doesn't matter what defence you put in front of them, they figure out a way to beat them. Yeah LeBron has lost against teams in Finals and whatever but he hasn't always had a stacked team like Jordan had his entire career. When Jordan was forced to strap a lesser team on his back and carry them, he never made the finals (granted he was very young but still). MJ is 3rd all-time in steals. LeBron is currently 16th and will probably climb into the top 10, maybe. Hard to call that one. Jordan finished 116th in blocked shots. LeBron is currently 111th and will climb higher, so he's slightly ahead of Jordan there likely due to his size. How else to you rate them defensively? I honestly can't decide who makes better defensive decisions and I think that's what the game comes down to. I also think the mental game plays a part and Jordan is unmatched in that regard.

Initial gut reaction was Hines Ward. He's one of the greatest receivers of all time so we know he can catch and run. He also played QB in college. Plus he loves to hit/block. Yeah, I'll take a team of 11 Hines Ward's every single time.

Lebron as a player is so much more unselfish, five of him would win. I don't consider him in contention for GOAT (right or wrong), but you have to consider the best 5-clone team to be Magic Johnson. A 6'9" PG that also posted up as Center when absolutely needed? He'd dominate everyone because better than anyone, he can play everywhere unselfishly.

I was going to throw Magic's name into the conversation but he was apparently mediocre on defense so I didn't bother. We've done football & basketball. Time for a little baseball.... Jose Oquendo is the only answer here and I have the footage to prove it. Serious Answer: Babe Ruth. The only other hitter in his league is Barry Bonds. Ruth was also the best left handed pitcher in baseball for a few years. Dude was ridiculous.
