Since both women are signed to AEW will call it a great AEW womens match. But it is odd how AEW let's the NWA title matches look better then the AEW title match.

Also not sure how long they been doing this but either JR and Tony didn't care about this match, the division, or their company. They were calling the match like announcers do in video game with generic statements that could apply to almost anyone.

Agreed I felt like she was so close to asking Anna Jay to attack Serena after the match. But maybe once Tay joins up. Anna can take the AEW title with Tay helps and Tay could take the NWA with Anna's help.

The world could learn a lot from Anna Jay and Tay Conti's friendship. Two people with some different ideas and viewpoints and still able to be friends.

It amuses me everytime when they come out together, but one from the heal entrance and one from the face entrance.

Shanna is back which is nice sadly the ending to the match was botched.

Shanna's hold on to the bridge thing after the pin is a bit weird as comes off like a heel move - and especially so when she did it after the initial botch. She's a good seller though, made Big Billie Kay's stuff look good which is an achievement as she seems very wooden and green.

Swole vs Alex was a soundly executed match which is a positive as that's something both have had issues with. The commentators talked about Swole training with Dean Malenko which seems like a great fit for her.

The tag match was better than average Dark fare. Ivelisse obviously stands out but there was good quick and crisp stuff from all the women in this match.

This could be interesting I guess. The way the graphic is structure makes it seem like there will be a US/NA bracket and a Japan bracket.

I'm assuming this will be where Riho comes back, and that Yuka and Shoko will be back as well. That leaves 5 spots. Emi Sakura could be brought back I guess even though a lot of people did not seem super impressed with her. I hope Ryu Mizunami is one of the talents brought in for this she was very impressive during the first joshi tag match in AEW.Maybe Miyu Yamshita is brought in too, I hope other than her and Yuka and Shoko no one else from TJPW is brought in the talent drop off after them is pretty severe.

Shanna vs Kilynn was fine. Shanna needs to tone down some of her complicated spots, it just makes things look sloppy without any real upside.

How about Mina Kimes making her AEW debut Blindy ?! It was nice to see Britt actually wrestle for a change, her problem solving Lockjaw despite the glove being on her wrong hand was cute. Rebel adds so much to her gimmick.

I thought Tay fell back into some of her bad habits this week, overdoing the poses and trash talk, but she's the opposite of my complaint about Shanna - all her complicated judo stuff genuinely comes off really impressively and unique.

Pretty sure that Madi Wrenkowski is going to fill the Madison Rayne sized hole in my heart. Brodie Lee's son is actually really good on commentary, I'd rather listen to him call a match than Cole, JR or Josh Matthews.

Had to double check, Havok's face does look like Kimes

They should bump Marvez and get Mina Kimes or Katie Nolan, the latter has hung in with the likes of MJF on social media, she's as battle tested as one gets. Trade in Jenn Sterger/Decker and Marvez and upgrade Tony. Get Dasha in the ring too or she can do both.

Given Kimes was on a Las Vegas betting odds for the next full time host of JEOPARDY though, this might be a downgrade for her. That and ESPN probably not letting either one take their talents elsewhere.

Britt's twitter game is so strong:

Wow two Britt matches in a week! Shanna looked a lot better in there with her rather than the inexperienced girls she's been against on Dark - it was a pretty decent match. Britt vs Rosa next week should be good, it's on one of their branded episodes of Dynamite so hopefully it gets generous time.

Serena vs Riho as the first announced match in the tournament is another to look forward to. Things are trending up.

One of the best ever episodes of Dark this week in my opinion!

The weekly Tay Conti showcase might have been the best yet, absolutely flawless execution on all spots from her and Tesha.

Couple of squashes for Rosa and Leyla were fine and to the point.

Ivelisse and Diamante do a good job of looking dominant in their tag matches whilst being on the defence a reasonable amount of time. AEW really needs to create a permanent tag team for them to have a real rivalry with.

Red Velvet and Alex Gracia rounded it off with a surprisingly solid match considering they can go off the rails at times. Red Velvet's speed really stands out.

She'd get farther too, I guess Riho is in US and the matches are happening in Japan so the whole 14 day quarantine thing and not having Riho go back and forth I guess. Or to rebuild her standing to the American audience. Sucks for Ford but she's probably more of a valet and is probably going to wed(I think) and get time off with Pip Sabian.

I'm guessing she's in the USA bracket because she's currently a talent who is signed and from what I understand will be living in the US for the most part going forward.

Regardless cool to see Ryu Mizunami in the Japan bracket, Aja Kong is also cool but she doesn't have a ton left in the tank.

I also thought Britt vs TR was a pretty nice match, I feel as though they have a better match in them.

Really enjoyed Britt vs Rosa, that's the best match I've seen in at least a couple of months. Britt seems to have really raised her level recently, this is kind of what I always expected out of her but I think she just got derailed because of all the injuries. There was a great little sequence just before the finish that I particularly loved with Rosa using La Reinara, Britt using her crucifix pin and trying to put on Lockjaw where they were just fighting for control on the mat which really put over the struggle for command. Good stuff!

Love the Thunderstruck chant for Rosa too, that's going to be awesome when crowds are a thing again.

Would not be shocked if this is why Omega set the matchup now that I think about it.

A couple of nice matches on Dark tonight.

Tay vs Alex was a fun squash. Tay's strikes are really good, and I love how she keeps adding new things to her move-set like the hammerlock ddt tonight that looked sick.

Nyla vs Miranda was your typical Nyla squash match that you've seen a million times before.

Red Velvet vs Dimanate was a fun match that I wish had a little more time. I also hope Velvet eventually upgrades her finisher cause her current running dropkick one is pretty bland

Maki Itoh earned a lot of respect from me for answering back to Jim Cornette on twitter, who is revered by plenty and has been known to go on tirades. Didn't know who this was until this, she has jumped on my radar for not backing down.

Alex is starting to look a lot more comfortable in AEW I think, she's been much more solid the last few weeks. I'm interested to see who Tay gets in the tournament to see how she goes in a longer more competitive match.

Velvet vs Diamante was cool for being a genuinely competitive Dark match which doesn't happen a lot. Velvet too looks more and more solid each week, you can see her experience and confidence growing each match. Agree that the finisher isn't great though.

See what Red Velvet can do with the right opponent? I know she’s caught up with Jade Cargill who probably won’t give her the best showcase but I hope there are more matchup opportunities for her in the upcoming tournament.

I think this Dark episode was a good showing for the three most promising prospects in the division: Red Velvet, Alex Gracia and Tay Conti.

So it's looking like the Japanese side of the tournament is going to be on Youtube while the US side will be on TV.
This is not ideal but ok overall, maybe it means the Japanese side will get more time for their matches? Although since they taped them all at once it will probably be like the MYC.

Wow 2 trans wrestlers in the tourney, that's pretty cool! Guessing the Maki Itoh chick isn't beating who looks to be the female Rainmaker Okada. The former is more marketable IMO.

Sucks the lack of black representation in the tourney, would have bumped RIHO in favor of getting either Big Swole or Sonny Kiss in there but this should be pretty good for the people into this. Not a fan of the Magic girl as she is way too nice or the Emi Sakura freddie mercury gimmick but I guess it is set up for Sakura and Kong in the finals?

I thought TR vs Leyla was good but too short, and the finish was kind of anti-climatic. It would have been nice for a longer match with both getting full-screen promos before the match, especially since that was the only real women's segment on the show to my knowledge.
