That sucks. Was looking forward to that match. Always like a good heel vs heel encounter, and they are both among my favourites in the company.
No idea who this Madi lady is.

Who? Isn't Big Swole American? Or Abadon(Or is her character that she is some hellspawn). Weren't these two on PPVs for this company?
Either way DMD was going to win.

Fucking hell. The shoulder injury requires surgery, which means Anna's gonna miss between 6 to 12 months.
Just as we get Riho back, we lose Anna. This division, man.

Sad to hear about Anna but Madi is an HR Future Superstar™ so I'm stoked she's getting this opportunity. The match is coming out on Youtube tonight so I might split these posts off into the WoW thread.

Not as sold as HR is on Madi, but love her gimmick and she has a ton of potential. Needs more camera time for sure to prove herself.
Sucks about Anna Jay. Beginning to think pro-wrestling is just not in her cards. Two shoulder injuries in two years makes it seem like her shoulder just does not like wrestling at all and maybe it is best for her to move to a non-ring role.

Two shoulder injuries in two years makes it seem like her shoulder just does not like wrestling at all and maybe it is best for her to move to a non-ring role. Randy Orton had/has a similar issue and he's managed to deal with it. The out of the ring stuff is interesting though, because it's definitely an area that she can really improve on. She's become synonymous with "star potential" because she's hot - but her charisma and promo ability isn't really a strength. She can use this time to really build up her character and mic skill like Britt did when she was injured.

Willing to give Madi the chance given she has a Polish last name and all. Just boggles my mind how she got the chance in the tourney if this is suppose to be the best of the best. She must be a AEW Dark top talent and this is a reward?
And Anna Jay had this magician gimmick that went nowhere, I just think she's above the Dark Order honestly, she is such a strange fit with them. I know with the Lee passing it's tough to break anybody from the faction but I think she can still do well as a valet and HONESTLY I think it would be smart to have her be Tay Conti's commentator for AEW Dark matches and if it goes well, have her be the Chris Jericho to Big Show when they were JeriShow and just consistently put Conti over and have her go over the top for her on commentary.

Tay vs Nyla was decent, but I really wished Tay would have won. Nyla could have taken the loss and a win for Tay does much more than a win for Nyla.
Yuka vs Emi was a solid match that I felt got better as it went along and increased in intensity.

Really think we get a rematch of Riho vs Nyla for the US finals, lots of bad blood and rivalry between the two.

Ryo vs Kong was a solid brawl, but the finish was not great. I guess Aja didn't want to do the job?

Britt vs Madi was pretty solid. You can tell Madi is still pretty green but she bumps and sells really well for her experience. Britt continues to improve her offense looks really nice now.

I really enjoyed Conti vs Rose. I think Nyla has gotten better and better in her role, she's able to maintain an aura of dominance whilst taking a lot of offence and making her opponents look tenacious and resilient. I haven't seen anyone do it as well as she does since Sara Del Rey in Shimmer and Awesome Kong in TNA. Tay continues to be a real highlight weekly, the hammerlock DDT is a great move to add to her arsenal.
Don't really have a lot to say about the two Japanese matches. Shida in that white suit though - what a boss!
They pivoted really well off Anna's injury to further the Britt/Rosa feud. Madi did a nice job in the spot, she's full of potential and I think her as TR's second is going to be a great role for her.

Some nice matches on Dark this week
Leyla vs Brooke was a fun competitive squash. Leyla is really strong and Brooke seems like she has a lot of potential and is very clean in the ring despite being so inexperienced, it's a bummer she tore her acl.
The tag match was fun as most La Sicaria matches are, although Renee wasn't super impressive and gives me Velvet Sky flashbacks in where she doesn't really botch but nothing she does looks super great, and her movements are kind of slow. I'm wondering if they're actually planning on doing something with Miranda and adding her to Ivelisse and Diamante's group? Or if this was just something to add some heat to the match. I think Miranda is pretty good it would be nice to see her try out her Lucha spots against a better base than Diamante.
Tesha vs Kilyn was solid, although I came out more impressed with Tesha her offense really seems to be coming along and looking more impactfull.

I didn't even realise she was injured during the match until I looked online afterwards, that's such a disappointment! That's what, the fourth long term injury in AEW over the past 12 months?

A little bit surprised that Nyla beat Britt, but it looks like we'll be getting Nyla vs Riho in the US final with Britt costing Rosa that other semi to continue their feud.
This one got a bit sports entertainment-y, probably didn't need the Rebel interference and the turnbuckle spot, but it was still a fun watch. That's what, three really strong matches on Dynamite in the past month? The ladies are TURNT up.

Nyla's two tournament matches are the first time I've enjoyed seeing her wrestler. The match vs Baker match was especially good. Those first few minutes where Baker was scrambling around but Rose just kept picking her up and slamming her. Wonderful. She seems more natural working the face role, and was a pretty convincing underdog, combined with Baker's nasty offense. Great finishing sequence too - I thought Baker would get the win after kicking out of the first Beast Bomb, but nope.
On the other side of the bracket, another giant woman exceeded expectations. Aja Kong was very impressive, working a hurt leg very convincingly and fighting from underneath. Ryo Mizunami wasn't especially great, way too much yelling, but the finish was pretty innovative, didn't see it coming at all. A bit contrived but good fun.
Despite Riho and Nyla starting to impress me, I still shudder with dread at the thought of a Rose vs Riho final. But I think that's where they're going.

I really liked that tag match, Mei came out looking a decent amount better than she did in her tourney match. I think having Hikaru and Emi on opposite sides of the match really helped the math stay focused and on track. Some really creative spots like Emi using her opponents to put a submission on each other, or Hikaru's sunset flip into a Meteora. This really made me want to see a long Hikaru vs Emi singles match in AEW.
Ryo vs Yuka was I think both talent's best match in the tourney especially when it got more serious. Ryo finally got to showcase more of her power offense , and Yuka benefited from getting to wrestle someone who could base for her really well.
I'm really hoping they have ryo win the finals as her vs Hikaru could be a great match.
Honestly AEW is destroying WWE in terms of high quality women's matches so far this year.
Riho vs TR was a little disappointing it was still pretty good just not great like I was hoping.

Bit limited for time today so I'll come back and watch the tag match later - but I enjoyed both singles matches. Props to those involved booking for giving us some genuine surprise winners all the way through, I would have predicted the Japanese final and both US semis to all go the other way.
Riho vs Rosa wasn't as exciting as Riho vs Serena but I still thought it was a high quality match. Rosa showed her versatility working as the heel, and she's really good at it with some unique submissions and some clearly quite brutal strikes.

I thought Rosa vs Nyla was a pretty good match, the ending was a bit sudden and some of the power moves looked a bit off but still pretty good. Really like the wheel-barrow into the leg submission that Rosa pulled off.

Rosa's got a lot of strengths but I think the thing that she's best at is never having a match feel like one you've already seen before. She's excellent at varying up her offence and adapting her style to the person she's facing. I personally would have liked to see her win this one (think she would have made a better opponent for Ryo than Nyla will) especially in her awesome Warriors gear! Nyla has improved a lot though compared to where she was at the beginning of AEW, she seems much more confident, and her flipping people off Stone Cold style is fun.

I agree as having Nyla as an opponent really limits Ryo's offense, as she can't really pull off a lot of her power spots on her. Rosa would be a better opponent to showcase her.

Jane Cargill is legit. Yeah she had a blooper with the ref having to tap her shoulder to tell her to turn back to Velvet but man she plays up to the crowd, does some pretty slams and she looks damn good. Very entertaining to watch. Want to see what she can do with someone much better than Red Velvet.
Cargill has a little Chyna in her, very impressive debut. She is better along than I thought she would be in ring.

Very impressive debut for Jade, she's clearly green in aspects ( ring awareness mostly) but with her physical gifts, there's no reason she shouldn't be a great talent eventually I just hope they don't rush things with her, take it slow.
Red Velvet also shined tonight I am amazed she was basically a no-name before her AEW appearances started with her level of talent and natural athleticism, maybe just another sign of the poor state of the women's indy scene, where even talents that have a lot of potential struggle to build hype around their names. I was also shocked to learn that she hasn't been signed full-time yet which is just crazy to me.

The Battle of Japan at Revolution. Shida vs. Mizunami Who is this Mizunami? I thought she looked like the female Okada but seems AEW is big time on her.

The Battle of Japan at Revolution. Shida vs. Mizunami Didn't see that outcome coming. I thought it was odd she beat Itoh in the first round since I didn't think she would win the whole thing.

I liked Red Velvet new gear for tonight and really surprised they didn't close with that match. I really hope the reason wasn't something like Red Velvet and Jade weren't going to be given the honor to be the first women in the main event of dynamite before others *cough*Brandi*cough*
Why does Nyla even need Vickie? She seems more prone to losing when Vickie is there.

Maki Itoh getting the pimp spot here and maybe becoming All Elite is well earned. She stood her ground big time on twitter and is unapologetic.
