I just finished the story mode

and it’s like they saw Infinity War & Endgame early and
cut/pasted it into MK but they made it suck and have awful voice acting and dialogue

The fighting is always great but just another franchise the vocal minority have infiltrated. All the female characters are almost as covered as a Muslim woman is such a current year thing, it doesn’t bother me because I’m not a teenage boy excited by 2D women but the developers attitude has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

It’s not past games were over the top like Dead or Alive, and female UFC fighters just wear shorts & a top not full armour like in MK11. Only the female characters have heavy armour, what are you saying MK? 😒

There’s also the grind/mobile action stuff but I’m not far enough into game to have experienced it.


It’s just getting ridiculous with every medium that has to have a political agenda to get good reviews from journalists, it’s a game where you rip people’s heads off FFS, Shao Kahn even says “Make Outworld Great Again” because he’s an evil dictactor, HA get it?! orange man bad.

Wish more things would take the Taylor Swift route.

The online works fine and the character models seem a bit lacking compared to MKX in my opinion. I might try to platinum it, the Trophy list doesn’t look to challenging from what I’ve seen.

What's the issue with the Jax ending exactly? And "Make outworld great again." was a harmless line, yeah, low hanging fruit to go after such a garbage person continually, but relatively inane. That was about it.

Either way, finished up the story, quite enjoyed it, happy to see Liu Kang not get the shit end of the stick for the first time in a long while, can't wait to see where the story goes for the next entry. On to days gone.

That the franchise that’s responsible for the ESRB existing and got its reputation of boobs & blood decides its the moral compass for America and everyone needs to “get woke.” The dislike ratio on the video for his ending says it all.

That people get all kneejerky over nothing? Anti-PC culture has become just as bad as PC culture if something so benign is kicking up controversy, he said woke and got rid of slavery and tried to make the world a better place for everyone, oh good golly gosh, how awful. And it only makes sense that some characters would have an ideology like that, not like the game was particularly shoving anything down people's throats, making every character like that. It certainly wasn't trying to be a moral compass on whole. People are so sensitive these days, I swear. 

While I can agree about the costuming, this one is pretty damn goofy.

MK has been apolitical since its inception in 1992, now all of a sudden it’s appeasing a vocal minority and games journalists for good reviews

If Jax was developed as a character that way from the start I wouldn’t care

People are annoyed by it because it literally seeps it’s way into every medium for no reason other than to keep people that don’t actively play games happy.

Jax's ending isn't a big deal, but the execution is just so pandering that it deserves to be called out as much as those Senran Kagura games that the games media loses their minds over.

The big story is the micro-transactions and just how grindy MK's game design is. The MK series was never known for it's amazing fighting engine, however, they were usually amazing with their audience. The amount of easter eggs, secrets, extras etc. in previous games was amazing and it just seemed like they went over and beyond to make sure their community got their money's worth. With the towers, it just seems like a ton of busy work and isn't something known for MK.

I just wish they'd save the crappy design choices for their side games.

I agree, that user reviews are completely useless in the era of review bombing things with objectively absurd scores any time there's anything remotely divisive, we see it every time there's some inane bullshit like this.  I'm entirely un-PC fundamentally, but it's just getting out of hand. Barely even existent within the game.  Honestly, the costume thing is eye rolling, but it's hardly even a factor,  wouldn't have even noticed if people weren't making a big deal out of it. 

Also don't think it's markedly counter to Jax's development, after the mental anguish of being a revenant,  he went back and tried to end as much suffering for all as he possibly could. Plus he's older and has a daughter now, which changes perspective. This was the only time he's been given the opportunity to reshape time, why wouldn't he make the most of it? I'd say it's a likely course of action for any virtuous black American. I wonder how much that would have even stirred had he not used the term "woke." (Which, admittedly, is a stupid term)

I loved Mortal Kombat games, but I'm not hearing enough good or bad about it right now to know if I want to spend money on it. This political shit I'm hearing now is definitely a turn off.

On the plus side, though, Baraka is back and he's badass. His fatalties are absolutely brutal

It’s very grindy/micro transaction heavy also

Gameplay wise it’s pretty much the same as the last few games.

Political shit is almost entirely non-existent, past your general Outworld politics. And while the gear system is the definition of a grind fuck, that's really just for customization, game can be enjoyed on a base level as much as the previous entries. None of them had it, can be ignored entirely. Just depends on how much time one personally wants to put into the game.

I’ll probably buy the game when it lowers in price. I am a huge fan of MK games since childhood so I should be okay avoiding all political nonsense that it does have. Especially if it is extremely minimum.

If you're waiting, most of the time MK has Ultimate editions down the road. Last two was MK9 Komplete Edition & MKX had most of the DLC. I like Mortal Kombat but don't really pay 60 dollars for it most of the time. So I'll probably wait for those later editions. I'm watching Maximillion and the doods playing the story and must say I'm really really enjoying the story.

That's how I always do it, right now I just have the Gamefly rental. I don't buy many games day 1, but NEVER a fighting game, there's pretty much always a later edition with a finalized roster and probably some other extra shit too. Most games I'll tend to put off in hopes of a "Complete Edition," while some games never come out with DLC integrated (Evil Within, we're looking at you, taken over to the PS4 with DLC still detached...fuckers.), I'd say the lion's share do.

I thought MKX was greedy until SFV came out.

A glorified alpha at launch then $60 AUD each year every year for new characters with no arcade until 2 years after release. Now in game ads also. I just don’t bother anymore I only play Dhalsim online anyway.

One thing I can definitely say for it is that the fatalities are absolutely insane, by far the best of any Mortal Kombat.

Almost have the platinum trophy.

I have 1 combo left in Tutorial mode, the block, crouching flawless block into throat slash with Baraka, I can’t for get to work for the life of me.
