Talking Head's "This Must Be The Place" has been on heavy rotation for me lately and it's one where to me it gets better the deeper it goes into the song which generally I find the opposite in. To me usually the first two minutes of a song are the best but this one, not the case. From the 3:25 mark all the way to the 4:15 mark I just fall in love with this song. Lyrically and vocally it's just a slam dunk. The lyrics really hit me and generally lyrics have no lasting imprint on me at all but these really just spoke to me...
"We drift in and out Oh! Sing into my mouth Out of all those kinds of people You got a face with a view I'm just an animal looking for a home and Share the same space for a minute or two And you love me till my heart stops Love me till I'm dead Eyes that light up Eyes look through you Cover up the blank spots Hit me on the head I got ooh!"
So lets talk about the moments in a song that just take the song to another level or just the moment in the song that makes it so damn special to you.

2112 by Rush is my favorite. And my favorite part of it, was Part VII, or the Grand Finale.
Crazy end to a crazy-long song.

Cool thread. Here's one of my favourite songs.
My favourite part of the song is the second solo and the short vocal line leading up to it. 3:02-3:45
The note held just before the first solo is perfect, and the first solo itself is classic Boston: great tone and full of feeling. However the second one is even more powerful, although that power wouldn't be felt if the first solo section didn't precede it. The second solo isn't as good, but then the singer kicks in with "She slipped awaaaaaAAAAYYY", gives me goosebumps every time. Then there's a great transition into the main riff and the last chorus.

A song that battles for the coveted favorite song of all time spot. The song fits in the context of the album that builds up over a few song spans, touching on religion and the inherent fear of not only death but what happens after death. The stretch from the bridge to the outro is one of my favorite sequences in a song. The live version really captures Jesse's haunting vocals in the outro along with Vinnie's raw energy in his solo. I love the little modifications they do live compared to the recorded tracks.
"So they say They say in heaven There's no husbands and wives On the day that I show up They'll be completely out Of their forgiveness supplies And I can't use the telephone To tell you that I'm dead and gone So you won't know"

I once got a hand job to Boston's more than feeling...and it was more than a feeling. So picture that next time your listening to that jam. lol
Another one of my favorites is "Patience" from Guns N' Roses. Their masterpiece in my opinion. I love a good whistle and we get a lot of that right from the jump. What I LOVE about this song though is that it feels like it reaches it's conclusion at the 4:10 mark but then cuts back in. Loved that and really bumped up what would have been a great song to an amazing song.

My favorite version of perhaps my favorite song, especially once Bruce gets up on the piano then slides to meet Clarence as they play in unison, magic.
Another cool unison where they all race to a different position on the stage then play the main riff right on cue.
From the solo bass part on.

Something about this time of year always puts me in the mood for some Type O Negative, one of my favorite bands of all time, something completely different from any other music I'm into. Type O was an acquired taste for me, I knew goth chicks that were into them but their music just didn't really work for me when I was younger. When I was 14 one of my friends I made when I moved to a new small town gave me their CD Bloody Kisses because he didn't like it. I didn't have much of a CD collection so I took it but I didn't like it when I tried to listen to it. Around that same time there was an awesome radio station that played some of their songs and they just really grew on me. Gradually over a period of time Bloody Kisses became one of my favorite albums of all time. Type O has great epic parts of songs that are buried and almost hidden, they write really long songs that grow and build and change over the course of 9 or 10 minutes and usually always hit a sweet spot like in the song We Hate Everyone: Around 2:45 they drop into one of my favorite parts of any song they ever made, fucking jam that shit loud as you can on your car stereo. The other morning I played Love You To Death at like 5:45 in the morning while it was still dark with that cold Fall weather snap in the air smoking a spliff while my truck warmed up, man it just hit the fucking spot. Their music was made for this time of year. My boy Kilgore knows what I'm tom'bout, "WE DON'T GIVE A FUCK!"
