Microsoft had its E3 event today. A few things of note from it.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be released next year, on April 16th.
Borderlands 3 will be out in September, with a setup DLC being released for the Handsome Jack Collection.
Xbox's new console is called Project Scarlett, and has a targeted release period for Holiday 2020.
And one of Scarlett's launch titles will be a new Halo game.
Not a bad show, but what do you all think?

I was interested in the Blair Witch game but I don't know if it'll be on PS4 or not. Oh well.
Cyberpunk looks amazing. And the Keanu reveal was pretty awesome. I'll be buying that game for sure.
I was disappointed in the gameplay from Jedi: Fallen Order or whatever that game is called. The saber battles looked really underwhelming. Hopefully we get some more from that game before it's released or else I won't buy it until I find a $10 copy somewhere down the road.

Cyberpunk 2077 is THE game I'm looking forward to. Love that they finally have a release date. I'll probably also pick up the Outer Worlds as well when it drops in October. My son on the other hand was utterly smitten with the Flight Simulator trailer so I'll be getting for him when it comes out.
That Blair Witch trailer was better than any Blair Witch that has ever come out on film. Might be promising.

They're not doing the big thing at E3, but Sony just dropped something pretty big on Twitter.
They announced that the Final Fantasy VII remake will be released on March 3, 2020.

Did they say if it will be the whole game or the first episode. Rumors were they wanted to break that up.
Devolver's Bootleg launcher is hilarious.

Actually, the announcement and teaser came during a Final Fantasy concert, that was taking place in L.A. They said that more details will be revealed tomorrow at Square Enix's E3 event.

The biggest announcement for me was that Phantasy Star Online 2 is finally making it's way out west. For years, that had been the one Japan exclusive that had eluded us and to finally get our hands on it and experience PSO in all it's glory was such a mouth watering announcement. The only bummer is that we've got to wait a year for it to come out, it would have been perfect for a Q3-Q4 release since there's no real big game coming out like Red Dead Redemption 2 or Super Mario Odyssey to send people into a frenzy.
The other big announcements were spoiled ahead of time. There's a new Tales of game with more seamless Action RPG mechanics. After Tales of Zestiria, I'm hesitant to jump on board right away. The Tales of series is known for releasing half-baked entries, only to perfect it the next time around. For instance they rushed out Xilia and came back with a sequel the following year. From all reports, Beseria was a big step up from Zestiria, so I'd like to see more before jumping in. With that said, it's nice to have a current gen version of Tales. The previous games like Zestiria and Beseria have felt more like AA games since they've been designed around the PS3 than modern consoles.
One game that caught my eye was Spirit Fairer. The art style in that game was so charming and while it feels like a game that's going to be sappy and pull at the heart strings, there's enough ideas present where it should be enjoyable enough to play.
Bleeding Edge is another team based shooter, but from the trailer, it kind of looked like MadWorld where you're using the environment to murder your opponent. It's springboarding off of Overwatch, but if it plays well then I'll have to give it a shot.
I have no expectations for Blair Witch. Looking at Bloober Team's past releases, at most it will be an OK survival horror, but more than likely it will be as forgettable as the Friday the 13th release.
The Dragon Ball Z Action-RPG looked pretty generic. It's all cut-scenes and so far all we know is that it will go up to the Frieza Saga, so it's like Legacy of Goku on the GBA.
Elden Ring sounds good, it's a shame George RR Martin is attatched to it. I'm sure it will be simul-released alongside the last two ASOIAF books, aka never. Okay, maybe we will see it, but the lack of a release date will make it 2021 at the earliest. It's a shame for everyone else, but for me it'll allow me to catch up on all the legit SoulsBourne games.
Finally, I thought RPG Time: The Legend of Wright looked like the most visually interesting game since Cuphead. Hopefully it manages to play as well, but it definitely caught my attention.
The rest seemed like more of the same. Hopefully Outer Worlds turns out good, the other big releases like Gears 5 and Halo: Infinite are games I might pick up if they come with the new X Box model.

Really think they should have let Halo rest after Bungie left. I don't play Xbox so can't really agree or disagree but I liken Halo to being like Assassin's Creed is for PS4. It's guaranteed money. Maybe I'm way off base but that's the sense I get every time they announce a new Halo game. Forgot about Elden Ring. Thanks Blindy. That game looks pretty great, and it's got GRRM attached so hopefully his creative juices were flowing for that game since they certainly weren't for the last couple seasons of GOT.

Yeah I know some companies like to milk certain franchise to death but when the original company is gone they should let things die. Halo Reach was the last one Bungie did and it was amazing. Played Halo 4 but it felt lacklaster. And didn't play 5 but heard bad things about it.

Banjo & Kazooie are returning to the Nintendo family, as the latest DLC addition to Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.
And, they're also developing a sequel to Zelda's Breath of the Wild.

Absolutely loved the way they revealed Banjo, as I thought it was hilarious with the Duck Hunt fake-out. Dragon Quest coming to Smash is whatever though.

Finally got a chance to watch the Nintendo show in full, as RT said BOTW 2 is a day one buy. Animal Crossing getting pushed back to March 2020 kinda sucks, but at the same time, I'm OK with it giving how much stuff Nintendo will be putting out in the upcoming months, so it'll be nice to have something to look forward to next year. Contra Collection (released today), Super Mario Maker 2 (June 28th), Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 (July 19th), Fire Emblem: Three Houses (July 26th), Spyro Reignited Trilogy (September 3rd) Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (September 20th), Pokemon S/S (November 15th) Mario & Sonic Olympic Games (November 2019), Luigi's Mansion 3 (2019 Release), and of course Yooka-Laylee: The Impossible Lair (2019 Release). ^^Just so much stuff that I plan on picking up already (and that's just Switch games), that I can wait another 9 - 10 months for Animal Crossing: New Horizons to be released. As mentioned before, I'm more interested in the Banjo DLC, than the Dragon Quest DLC for Smash... hell, I'd love to see Banjo get the Crash/Spyro treatment, and have the games (the two N64, and X-Box games) released as a trilogy set.

I thought both Smash characters were good additions. The Dragon Quest Hero doesn't have as much reverence in the west, but in Japan, DQ is a massive franchise and deserved representation. Banjo Kazooie in Smash feels right since it started off on the N64 and Banjo was one of the star characters on the system. The trailer was awesome, I was wondering who they could get to troll and for the life of me the Duck Hunt Dog never occurred to me.
I held off from buying Dragon Quest XI after reading some fairly lukewarm reviews, but I might have to dive into the Switch release. Playing JRPGs on handhelds just feels right to me and all the new inclusions put the game over the edge. I'm also curious to see more of Astral Chain. I've yet to watch the Treehouse demonstration, but they basically had me at Platnium Hack n Slash. The Mario Odyssey mechanic of possessing other monsters looks like an interesting twist on their formula. Daemon X Machina I'm a little bit more hesitant on. Marvelous aren't a bad studio, but they've got a ton of 'good, not great' titles under their belt. I'd have to hear more before I get invested.
I'm OK with AC being shifted to 2020. AC doesn't strike me as a Christmas release anyways and is perfect as a game that tides you over till September. I don't think the month will be as hectic as it first appears either, I expect a lot of games will be delayed around that time. I get the feeling that crafting will be the only significant addition to the game and it'll basically be A New Leaf but on a more customizable island. Essentially, I think it will be like a Pokemon sequel than a big bold step forward for the franchise.
The two other games that caught my eye were No More Heroes III which should hopefully live up to it's predecessors and the Dark Crystals Tactics game. That was such an out of left field announcement, I hope it really leans into the Henson charm because it'll be a nice addition to other games like Disgaea and Fire Emblem.
BotW2 was a nice shock, but looking back on it, without a release date it's like announcing there will be another Mario Kart game eventually. That's cool, but it's basically a given that Nintendo are working on the next Zelda and given the response to BotW, they were going to stay in that direction.

It shows Gears 5 new escape mode. While this is another series I think they should have ended after 3. It is nice to see Woods, Breeze, and Styles work together in a game for a change.

I just finished watching a couple of Nintendo's treehouse videos.
I posted the Yooka Laylee trailer last week, and while I was intrigued by it and knew I would eventually get around to playing it, after watching the game play, this will be a day one purchase for me. I also watched the game play footage for New Super Lucky’s Tale, it looks cute, could be a decent enough platformer, might pick this up depending on the price. As someone who loves a good platformer (Super Mario World is my all-time favorite game), these two games are right up my ally.
Also because I forgot to mention it earlier, Minecraft Dungeons actually looks good, at least from what they've shown of it.
