Earlier today it was reported that Emma had been released from her contract with WWE, after more than six years with the company.

While many from the wrestling world have been pouring out their support for Emma, as well as Darren Young and Summer Rae who were also let go, it took Lio Rush all of half an hour to take an unnecessary shot at the Australian star.

“I guess these are the things that happen when you’re not TRULY ready for Asuka,” the 22-year-old developmental newcomer taunted on Twitter shortly after news broke. Emma’s final matches in WWE were against the debuting “Empress of Tomorrow”, who had spent more than 500 days as women’s champion in NXT before Rush even made his debut.

Several members of the roster are apparently unhappy with his comments.

– Peyton Royce: “Wow, kid. Didn’t you just get here? Professionalism goes a long way.”

– Bray Wyatt: “You ain’t gonna make it here with the wolves, kid.”

– Sean Waltman: “Sad to see this from you.”

– Rosa Mendes: “SHOW SOME RESPECT!! Have some class. You work for the same company. I’m so disgusted.”

I mean, it's a pretty dumb and insensitive joke, but the reaction to it feels a little overblown. It's a joke you can't make when you also work there, but there's very clearly no malice behind it, it's just a bad joke.

i think it's also the fact that Lio has been in WWE all of 5 minutes making remarks like this publicly...

Enzo will probably delighted to know he is going to have company.

You said it before I had the chance to. Poorly-timed but ultimately harmless joke, overreaction from people.

I don't think Lio's take is a big deal. I just don't it's necessary. It's as of Emma rejected Lio and now he's sour about it. I know that's probably not the case, I just find his jerkiness very random. I'll just chalk it up to immaturity I guess.

A wet-behind-the-ears rookie cracks a joke about the firing of a veteran. Of course that was gonna go over poorly. A co-worker just lost their dream job and some newbie takes a shot. That's not cool, especially in a business like pro wrestling where the talent has a close bond with each other. The comment was bad, the apology was worse.

Dude earned himself a spot in the doghouse.

Dude deserves all the comments he's getting. He should know his place. Made a bad joke, whether it was tongue and cheek, left no one really laughing. Hope he learns from it though.

As previously reported, WWE announced the release of several Superstars today including Emma, Darren Young and Summer Rae. NXT newcomer Lio Rush then made some careless remarks on Twitter, “joking” about Emma not being “ready for Asuka” which provoked an immediate response from many of his WWE colleagues.

Rush has since deleted the original tweet and posted the following apology:

“At the end of the day there’s a certain level of respect within professional wrestlers in the sports & ENTERTAINMENT industry that is noted within peers. With that being said, Emma I respect you and everything that you’ve done for our business. It saddens me that the ‘controversial tweet’ got completely blown out of proportion and looked at in a very insensitive way. As a family man with a 4 year of son expecting another, I would never laugh or mock the fact of someone loosing there job because of how it can affect self person and there families. Whatever the situation may be regarding the release. You’re an amazing performer and respected athlete by yours truly and I’m sure you will excel beyond expections. To my fans who may have seen this as inappropriate as well as Emma’s fans, I apologize and I love you ALL regardless of the responses. On Behalf of myself and the WWE Goodluck!”

We’re not exactly sure how else to look at his original tweet (sent less than half an hour after Emma lost her job) besides “insensitive”, but at least Rush is sorry…that it got “blown out of proportion”. Apparently several members of the WWE roster didn’t buy into the apology either, including 205 Live Superstar Jack Gallagher and Dash Wilder.

– Gallagher: “Apologizing because people didn’t like your joke, not for joking about someone losing their job. Also, try the English classes at the PC.”

– Wilder: “So busy trying to be a comedian, you forget you’re a dumbass.”

Side Note: I miss the Revival...

I agree with Gallagher. he seems only sorry his comment was taken poorly, but not sorry for making it in the first place.

How is anyone surprised by this.....this is the same guy who got power slammed from a ladder through a table only to rise up within seconds smiling in CZW just a few months back :lol:

And Storms very close with Jericho....You just know Jericho's giving Rush a lifetime ban on Talk is Jericho until otherwise, he will join Sexy Star
