Texans have done this at least 3 since I started watching them. Last year it cost them the bye. I presume Romeo made the call. Awful. Just awful. I've been watching football for just 2 years and my jaw dropped when he called it, how inexcusable is it for one of the most experienced DCs in the league to call prevent in that scenario. The Texans are their own worst enemy.

The prevent is good for only ONE thing, and that is stopping long passes with very few seconds remaining, when a team has no choice but to throw it long.


Any coach that uses it for any other purpose needs to be kicked in the balls repeatedly.

Yeah that was a weird call by Crennell but if I could assume what his logic was , was that he was going to take his chances with a 57-60 yard field goal try , thus giving up the 7 yards or so. As opposed to letting them gain 10-12 yards and set up for a far more makeable attempt. I mean Lutz to that point had a career long of 56.

I still don't understand the point of playing the safeties 20 yards back unless he didn't realize the Saints still had a timeout. Or feared they would break one , which is still stupid because whoever caught the ball was always going to go straight to the ground.

I don't know , but I assume he was willing to give up the 7 yards in hopes that Lutz would miss an incredibly tough kick. Even then though he could bring the safeties to the 10 yard mark and play tough man coverage to at least make Brees hold the ball for a few seconds longer than he wants to.

I was watching the highlights, got to the conversion penalty and was about to give a huge shout out to todd and Nobi. Only to read todd's post and realise there was still time left. That's awful, but it's Round 1 and the Texans showed a ton of heart against one of the best teams in the NFL. It's a long way away until the real season starts anyways and who knows how Houston will be shaping up by then.

Some of those catches, beautiful. Thank god the Vikings defence doesn't have to come up against that.

Which is dumb given the Pats resigned him a week ago. Joe Douglas was sleeping behind the wheel if he wanted Dey Thomas. I guess the Sheppard suspension opened up a valuable 53 spot but nevertheless.

A torn achilles Thomas, who bombed with the Texans. Maybe the extra rest works but the top four Jet WRs are so injury prone or hurt this year.

And Brown was a fifth rounder. Edelman was a 7th though!

Demarius didn’t “bomb” with the Texans. He got injured but he was doing fine with them.

The only thing I take out of this is that the Jets are over Enunwa which doesn’t surprise me since this is Gases team now and DT was his boy in Denver.

Gase was talking up Enunwa during offseason, it's more of our lack in WR.

Gase must have gotten his weekly Peyton Manning pep talk after the tough loss and told him to get Thomas at any cost. I truly believe Peyton had some pull in this Jets organization.

It's odd given the Pats and Jets play each other twice in the next five weeks. Think it's a good gesture on Pats part, Josh McDaniels drafted Thomas(and Tebow) together while in Denver so that was his guy. Must not be happy with his rehab.


Jets signed this Sam Ficken jabroni to be the kicker, Vedvik already lost his shotn with that piss poor extra point miss. Ficken couldent beat out Mason Crosby in the preseason and has a career 50% make rate this will be great.

Antonio brown now has a rape lawsuit set against him by a former trainer. Fucking A man dude hadn't played a down the whole 2019 year and its one thing after another. Not many other athletes can say they've had as bad of a 2019 as Brown

This really was inevitable. Glad to hear that Conley is ok though because the way his neck got compressed looked like it could have been very bad.

Seeing some of the late touches Henry Anderson pulled on Josh Allen bothers me. I thought the 15 yard foul was dumb but a flop by Allen for a call but the other shit is ridiculous.Play is over and he's going after Allen's knees, Gregg Williams must have told him do that to get a couple of thousand after the game. I would be pissed if that was Darnold in Allen's shows and I saw Henry Anderson do that. His dumb foul cost the Jets 3 points which made them lose. 

Hauschkas's loud wife butting in though with bias and not bringing up Jordan Phillips cheap shot on Darnold's knees is pathetic though. The Phillips shit was just as bad if not worse given he's a heavier dude and put more force in his late hit. Steven Hauschka probably should not let his wife fight his battles. The Hauschka hit from last season was unnecessary but it wasn't as bad as made out to be honestly, kickers should dive away after the play and not line up to tackle and not face any kind of contact. I think the back shot was silly though but if you know you are the designated kicker, you step away from making a tackle IMHO. I hold my breath when kickers line up to try and do something other than kick on special teams, same with a punter. 

Shame too because Anderson had a strong end of season for the Jets year 1 but this shit has to stop. It's dirty garbage shit.

Quincy Enunwa lost for the year, damn shame. Just got signed too but he's made of glass, he plays way too violently and his body has taken a toll from that. Makes sense with the Dey Thomas trade now.

Darnold missed Robbie on some throws and Crowder was a good intermediate option but they have nothing after that. Josh Bellamy was the 4th WR and after him was Honey Nut Berrios. They should consider signing Deontay Burnett. 

Crowder is a good Cotchery for the Jets. Anderson would be a good WR2, but they really need a difference maker and they don’t have it in their roster.

If Scarnecchia turns Newhouse into Solder 2.0, he has earned a spot in the Hall of Fame. 1st ballot. 

Derrius Guice had so much potential coming out of college, but these leg injuries seem like they're going to forever keep him from shining.

Against their will, they now have to start Adrian Peterson. I think it's time the Redskins pull the trigger on Melvin Gordon. I know the Skins would be dumb to trade a first round pick for him, but they can probably unload Trent Williams in the deal and maybe swap mid round picks. A win-win for both teams.
