Might as well kick this off , the Packers and Bears , as the oldest rivalry in the NFL kick off the season the right way on Thursday - the Packers will obviously win so I'm going to focus more on Season predictions.
NFLMVP - Drew Brees OPOY - Odell Beckham Jr. DPOY - Aaron Donald OROY - Kyler Murray DROY - Devin Bush COTY - Doug Marrone CBPOTY - Leveon Bell
Note: I chose no Packers , otherwise they would have filled every category.
Playoff Teams: Packers Eagles Saints Rams Falcons Vikings
Browns Patriots Texans Chiefs Colts Steelers
Superbowl Packers over Texans!
Lets gooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I see some sucking up to shinobimusashi going on. It’s going to be the Andy Reid Bowl. Chiefs and Eagles. Week 1 should be fun. Can’t wait to see what the Browns, Jets, Cardinals and Raiders look like.

It sucks that the NFL isn't doing throwback uniformed games, like they did when the league turned 75.

Can’t wait to see what the Browns, Jets, Cardinals and Raiders look like. I've always liked Houston , and I spent the last few days trashing the team. However I do think they can have a great offense and enough pieces on defense to make a difference.

Will do @admin. And I will love the Texans if they trade for Melvin Gordon. The big talk in the last hour is that he has just followed Philly, Oakland, San Francisco and Atlanta on Instagram. Might mean nothing. Might mean something. If he was to go to one of the four, I would be happy with San Francisco the most.

No they didn’t.
They shut down contract extension talks.
AND Melvin Gordon can not sit out the whole season. He doesn’t have the same luxury as Bell did. Melvin Gordon is under contract, whereas Bell was not. If Melvin doesn’t report by Week 10, he loses the whole season and is in the same situation next year repeating his 5th year option.
The 5th year option is a team option which they exercised which means he’s under contract still. It’s not the same as Bell and he has to play eventually.

Are they going to break out the retro uniforms for this year like they did for 75? I thought that was really cool. As much as I hate it when Titans wear Oiler gear that would be one hell of a spectacle of they wore it for one of their Houston games this year, celebrate the 60 year anniversary of the AFL, I mean this was the city where they wore those uniforms. Even cooler than that would be if the Texans were granted permission to wear Oiler throwbacks even if just for 1 game.

Here's my QB list since it's always good for discussion - remember the classic Sam Bradford vs Tyrod Taylor argument from last preseason?
I'm doing Week 1 starters in order of who I would like to have playing for my team this season - with no real eye on projected potential.
1. Patrick Mahomes 2. Aaron Rodgers 3. Russell Wilson 4. Drew Brees 5. Matt Ryan 6. Phil Rivers 7. Ben Roethlisberger 8. Tom Brady 9. Jared Goff 10. Deshaun Watson 11. Baker Mayfield 12. Carson Wentz 13. Cam Newton 14. Kirk Cousins 15. Dak Prescott 16. Sam Darnold 17. Mitch Trubisky 18. Jimmy Garoppolo 19. Lamar Jackson 20. Matt Stafford 21. Jameis Winston 22. Derek Carr 23. Nick Foles 24. Kyler Murray 25. Andy Dalton 26. Josh Allen 27. Marcus Mariota 28. Joe Flacco 29. Eli Manning 30. Jacoby Brissett 31. Ryan Fitzpatrick 32. Case Keenum

Only a couple of points I would argue with. Tom Brady is top 3 until proven otherwise. Definitely top 5. I still take him over Big Ben, Matt Ryan, or Rivers. Rodgers is tough to rank. You know talentwise he is top 3, but he's coming off a down year and should probably be dinged a couple of spots for it.

I have Brady lower because I think there were real signs last season that he has started to decline, he had a few genuinely poor games - vs DET, TEN & BUF. People have been predicting him to fall off because of age for a few years now because it has to happen eventually, but until the Patriots stop making the Super Bowl I think there is a reasonable argument that he is the best. Rodgers played injured for the whole season, and was contending with a volatile coaching situation - I view those as pretty big caveats and expect him to be better this season with both issues fixed. The only person I would consider bumping above him is Brees, and he, like Brady, also doesn't have age on his side and ended the season in some rather concerning form.

People talk about Brady having a rough go down the stretch but Brees wasn’t very good either. Both guys showed signs of age.
I still think Brissett is going to be fine and will finish the year in at least the Top 20. Id certainly take him over Eli. I don’t hate Keenum either but he’s in an impossible situation in Washington.

Brady's bad games were sprinkled throughout the season but Brees went from being MVP calibre to rather ordinary almost instantly. His last six games: 7 TDs, 5 INT, 4 out of 6 games below 70 completion%, 1 game out of 6 over 8YPA. Brady didn't light it up vs the Chiefs or Rams but he did have that monster day against the Chargers in the divisional round.

I think Bills win this game on the road vs Jets
I don't trust the Jets secondary. Trumaine Johnson who stunk last year was out with a hamstring injury will be matched up with John Brown I think who can burn him especially given Josh Allen has god given armstrength. Even if the Bills don't take their shots, Johnson will give Brown such a cushion that not even Allen can miss him. Daryl Roberts will be up against Cole Beasley who will have his way IMO as Roberts isn't very good. Comes down to if the Bills vaunted but overhauled OLine steps up and can maintain the Williams'duo, Henry Anderson and the other blitz packages(Mosley, Adams) Triple G throws at the offense.
Jets OLine have alot of question marks to be honest, they have yet to play a game together and that worries me. Winters, Kalil, and Osemele have injury pasts and hadn't played a single down on the field. Going against the Bills aggressive defense, I expect Darnold to scramble for his life and make plays improvising because in the pocket, I don't think Buffalo bends. They have improved stuffing the run so Leveon Bell at least on the ground I don't forsee a great day. If the Jets go one too many three and outs which I think they do, the Jets D will give up the big play that Josh Allen somehow ends up getting in his games.
I would probably do 23-16 BUF. Think they jump out the gates and hang on to the 1 score game for the "upset".

I'm so excited/curious/nervous for Thursday night. It's been a long time since there was this much change with the Packers and lord knows I've been wishing for a coaching change forever now and now that we got it - it better make a difference. The fact that like no starters played in the preseason and we had some weird things happens only ups my curiousity. I have no idea what to expect out of the Packers. Also excited about this defense , if King can ever stay healthy we have one of the top young CB duos in the NFL and added some front seven help to go with that.
Here's to hoping we come out guns blazing on both sides of the ball against Chicago.

Yeah but no one really talks about that with Brees because of the blown PI call , but as egregious as that that is - it really did take the spotlight and scrutiny off the rest of the Saints including Brees for blowing that game and not really playing up to their reputation.

To me Brees is almost the favourite for MVP. All-time great QB with a narrative to win the award on arguably the most talented roster in the league. I feel like he could win it without being even that great.
I'm stuck on MVP. I would have picked Luck. Now I may actually go Brees.

UT - I understand your concerns with Brees and I have those same concerns myself. I also see you picked him as MVP for this season. Why is he your MVP pick? Narrative. I think Brees could still have a good regular season and front run a bit , put up decent numbers (33/12?) , the Saints get a bye and writers remember Brees has never won an MVP and give him a token one for the road before he falls short in the playoffs. The NFL is such a narrative driven league (see Manning , Ray Lewis) that these awards often play into that. I don’t think he will be as good as in the past but he will do enough and build the resume to justify voting for him. Plus I banned myself from picking Rodgers. I do think Deshaun Watson has a legit shot at it too - that offense could be insane if ol buttchin doesn’t get in the way.

I really hope this is the year for him. I’d love for him to finish his career with a MVP award. Although, I’m sure he would take another Lombardi Trophy over MVP as would I. It’s just crazy that every time he’s had a MVP season, there was someone who put up historic numbers and won the award. He’s looked great in camp and on his lone drive in the preseason so I am optimistic but last year’s road felt so long and tough, I don’t know if they will be able to repeat it.

My REAL REAL picks for awards:
MVP: Aaron Rodgers OPOY: Davante Adams DPOY: Jaire Alexander OROY: Elgton Jenkins (guard love) DROY: Darnell Savage COTY: Matt LaFleur CBPOTY: Jake Kumerow
I’m actually really excited to see what Kumerow can do. Dude has balled out every chance he’s got. MVS is talented but Kumerow has been a lot like an Adam Thielen so far.
