Honestly, what do you think would happen if Mahomes just said fuck it and held out right now?
Do you think the Chiefs would just throw all their money at him or would he get Kaep'ed?

Quarterbacks generally don’t hold out and he comes from money so I don’t see it happening but I’m sure they would have no choice but to cave. Or they would search the nearest prison yards for a guy with an arm.

Untouchable is correct, it's a matter of inflation especially for QBs. The market for all titles in all football will consistently go up and with a CBA looming(Which players ala Sherman have hinted might be a potential lockout) the contracts will go further up so teams will be smart to lock their signal caller up prior to before the prices get crazy. Makes me scared since Darnold will be creeping up around that time of asking for a big time pricetag by that point, can only hope that teams cap space will go up much more by that point to help cushion said cost.

The Chiefs can’t give Mahomes an extension until he earns another season so him holding out now would only delay the process by league rules. And if that weren’t the case fuck so many players would’ve held out like that sooner like Russell Wilson. At least Mahomes has top ten pick money, Wilson played on that third round deal for years.
But if the Chiefs could give him an extension tomorrow they would back up a Brink’s truck.

Yeah, but you can't take that away from Flacco or Dilfer. Jared Goff may never reach the Super Bowl, let alone win one. I don't think he's a game changer who deserves the (at the moment) richest QB deal ever. Just like I didn't think Kirk Cousins deserved it either. I don’t know why, but I really think sometime in his career Jared Goff will “reach the Super Bowl.”

I just don't understand why literally NOBODY in this entire fucking thread is picking Deshaun Watson as MVP. If completely healthy, and if he can produce like he did prior to the injury in year one, and if Houston gets good results, then sure. But for now, he's a little lost in the fray.

I just don't understand why literally NOBODY in this entire fucking thread is picking Deshaun Watson as MVP. Kid picked Watson as MVP. But to be honest, I don't think he's a good choice. Not with the foolishness the Texans front office has shown this off-season. If they didn't have their heads in their asses then maybe. The bigger mystery is why no one has picked PATRICK MAHOMES....but I'll do it!!! Season prediction:
AFC
North
11-5 - Pittsburgh Steelers - Immensely talented roster with proven coach, and minus the distraction of AB. Defense should take a step forward 11-5 - Cleveland Browns - Rough start but come into their own down the stretch, they have play-makers in all the key positions 10-6 - Baltimore Ravens - Three play-off teams from this very competitive division, as Jackson takes a step forward and pairs nicely with a still fearsome defense 4-12 - Cincinnati Bengals - Stale organisation lacking big-name talent. I don't think they're going to be awful but they are in a tough, tough spot in this division
South
10-6 - Houston Texans - Bill O'Brien's ass being on fire may do him a favour, perhaps Watson will let his arm go a bit more - receiving group of Hopkins, Fuller, Stills and Coutee is scary but secondary needs to do something 7-9 Jacksonville Jaguars - Offense is upgraded and defense is one of the best but struggles continue as Jags just lack options for QB Nick Foles 7-9 - Tennessee Titans - More of the same from the Titans. Great defense, too much playing between the sticks on offense 7-9 - Indianapolis Colts - I used a play-off predictor for these results, and this is an example of where it came out worse than I actually think it will. Still, a step back for an organisation losing their superstar QB and enormous pressure on the new starter will tell
East
10-6 - New England Patriots - No bye this year for the sometimes impotent Patriots, but defense is stellar enough to win some tight games and they'll beat some teams in the tunnel 9-7 - Buffalo Bills - Understated, underrated, but ultimately just lacking accuracy in the passing game to make the play-offs. Will make teams sweat 9-7 - New York Jets - See above, but switch accuracy in the passing game for quality on the defensive side of the ball. Darnold and Bell will be an electric combination behind the snap 3-13 - Miami Dolphins - Terrible roster, barely an established top-15 position player in the team. Fitzmagic may win them a couple of games, hopefully for Josh Rosen several so he doesn't have to play behind Julie'n Davenport
West
12-4 - Kansas City Chiefs - Offensive talent will see many games over by half-time. The most-feared team in the league win a first-round bye with ease 9-7 - Los Angeles Chargers - Regression for this LA team, the combination of a weak-looking offensive line and a QB getting up there in age a worry. Just miss out on play-offs 7-9 - Denver Broncos - Will drive their fan-base crazy. Will win tough games and lose comparatively easy games. Great defense that will make teams uncomfortable but Flacco won't quite work out 3-13 - Oakland Raiders - Maybe some of their draft picks will be great, but I'm not inspired by this roster. Derek Carr is fine, but not in a position to lift a mediocre supporting cast. AB drama doesn't do them any favours
NFC
North
11-5 - Green Bay Packers - A more dynamic, unpredictable offense sees the field open up for Aaron Rodgers and we all know the results. Average on defense will do, I think they'll manage it 8-8 - Minnesota Vikings - See the Colts. They seem a better than 8-8 team but tough division and that's what they got from me. I ultimately don't trust the offense to go on the road and pick up W's 8-8 - Chicago Bears - Regression for the Bears who will still be pretty good, but I don't expect the Trubisky step forward and I think ultimately they'll depend on a lot of 3rd down stops and turnovers - a feat I find unlikely they'll repeat 6-10 - Detroit Lions - I think they'll look better but tough division once again, and the self-belief within the franchise needs to build over another year or so. Lacking true play-makers although they have many, many good starters and could surprise
South
12-4 - New Orleans Saints - If Brees is still good, which I expect, this is the best team in the NFL. No weakness. All-pro players, pro-bowlers aplenty, play-makers every place you look. Top five coach in the league. It's tough to see them not being brilliant again 10-6 - Carolina Panthers - Similar to BoB, Newton is encouraged to let the arm go a little more with Rivera's ass on the hot seat, and the results are pleasant 9-7 - Atlanta Falcons - Better from the Falcons but they miss out on a play-off birth by a hair. Defense takes step forward but teams still fancy airing it out against this team 5-11 - Tampa Bay Buccaneers - I quite like this team and I think they'll win some games but it's one of the toughest divisions in the NFL. More than 5 wins would not surprise me though
East
10-6 - Philadelphia Eagles - Division title for the Eagles who are just too well-rounded. Players coming back from injury at the right time. I expect big things from Wentz, he had a year last year to build confidence in his movement again, and I expect him to take off 9-7 - New York Giants - I don't know how this happened, I don't really see them winning 9 games although apparently I do? A winning record for the Giants will probably need Eli out of the team quickly, and maybe that just happens 8-8 - Dallas Cowboys - Great defense, but some regression will require greater dependence on the offense, and I'm just not sure. Cooper will be key 2-14 - Washington Redskins - This seems unbelievably harsh (they may have a tough schedule) as it's not a terrible roster. I expect more like 5 or 6. Offensive line will be key and looks dodgy
West
11-5 - Los Angeles Rams - I don't expect the trailblazing offensive magic of last season as teams will adjust to McVay's ideas but the defense will be better and the Rams have too many good players. I also expect another quiet step forward for Goff 10-6 - Seattle Seahawks - Could go either way with worries at receiver and with the play-calling. Still, some nice playmakers on defense and you just know Wilson will bail them out a few times 5-11 - San Francisco 49ers - This years Texans (high ceiling, low floor) and my gut says they struggle. Huge pressure right out the gate on the QB to perform. I don't think he will be afforded the patience that maybe Wentz and Watson would have been had they not been good immediately last year 3-13 - Arizona Cardinals - I don't buy that you can take a bad offensive line, pair it with a young QB that's never played in the NFL and a coach that's never coached in the NFL, and magically everything will be great. I hope for the league I'm wrong, but it's a pipe-dream
---
It was interesting to write that up using the play-off predictor rather than write the summary and pick the record to fit the narrative. Some of them came out a bit daft. Will be interesting to look back on in January.
I've gone for the Packers tonight btw.

I’m rooting for the Bears. Just to give tonight a storyline and piss off UT. Fantasy implications have me cheering Davante Adams, Anthony Miller and Chicago D. I have this horrible feeling Davante Adams is getting injured.
