I've always likened Joey Ryan to a circus act. Meaning, he can go from town to town, doing the same thing night in night out. It get's over, it's fun. It's all good. But it's hardly a character that would work, albeit survive within the WWE.
Although, more credit to him. He's created something that works. Every time. I like Joey Ryan.

Not everyone fits the WWE archetype. There's not wrong with that.

One trick pony. He'd never succeed in a long term situation like WWE requires. He's too limited.

He also mentioned that he would be making 2/3s less if he were to work for WWE. In the future, I can see many guys taking the same path as him and like Cody Rhodes has learned. They get to travel the world, and work on their own term. WWE as the final destination is a mentality that will be changed soon enough.

I think for a long time, we, them, the industry, etc always considered the WWE as something comparable to Major League Sports. In fact, wrestling, is less like Professional Sports and more like the film industry. WWE is Hollywood, the independents are the independents. And as a lot of actors, directors have shown, you can be very successful as an independent.
