I’m sure everyone already knows the story. If not, educate yourself. This is some real big shit going on with the NBA. 

It all started with Daryl Morey of the Houston Rockets retweeting something that read “I stand with Hong Kong.”

As the people of Hong Kong protest against China, this became a huge issue to China. China gives millions and millions of dollars to the NBA. If you want to know what team is the biggest in China, it’s the Houston Rockets who DRAFTED YAO MING. 

Morey deleted his tweet after the backlash came. The Houston Rockets went public and said that they are not a political team  Funny, since everyone in the NBA has become an expert at politics in the US since Trump took office but we will get to later. 


Adam Silver did the commendable thing and publicly stated that he will never stop anyone from using their freedom of speech. 

That was the final straw for the Chinese government. All of a sudden, with the Nets and Lakers landing in China for basketball games, they landed into a war zone. Almost like when the Vietnam vets came home. Totally blown away by what was going on. 

The Chinese sponsors started pulling out of the NBA. The NBA banners across the street from where the Lakers and Nets were being pulled down right before the eyes. 

Then Lebron James, king of politics, decided to speak. Thinking he was smooth, he ended up calling Morey “misinformed” which now led to the people of Hong Kong turning on Lebron James and the NBA. They even started burning Lebron jerseys during their protests. Lebron had to retract and decided to admit he had no idea what the fuck he is talking about but didn’t like Morey putting the players in danger.... by using his freedom of speech! Lmao. Fucking phony. 

Now the NBA is about to lose millions and millions of dollars if they can’t fix the China problem. They’re in full scramble. Lebron James could be losing millions of dollars as well for publicly getting involved and having no idea what he’s talking about. His sponsors haven’t given comments yet although they’ve been asked. We’re waiting to see what Nike (who has A LOT of money coming from China) has to say. 

Donald Trump has even gotten involved and the President has mocked the NBA for how cowardly they’ve been acting when it comes to the values of another country and how openly they shit on America. Which obviously, he’s 100% right about by the way. 

This has become a shit show and I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts about it. I don’t care if you are team China or team Hong Kong, but this is a colasol story we should be talking about. Heck, I would LOVE to hear what iNCY has to say about this considering his travels to China. 

I am team Lol NBA, by the way. Bunch of clowns thinking they’re smarter then they are. Now they want to “shut up and dribble”. Makes no sense. I guess money talks for everyone huh? Even the good old people’s people.

I love watching Lebron play, but he is the living breathing example of why players should "shut up and play ball" The most glaring aspect of it was the sheer hypocrisy of it all. Lebron can barely go a half-hour without getting on some kind of soap box yet knocks Morey for doing the same damn thing.

Lebron has always been a phony who tries to use his cronies to do his bidding. His garbage blackballing on Phil Jackson using the word "Posse" being some how derogatory was the real "woke" moment. He is all talk until it actually affects his pockets and he uses his appeal and status within the NBA circles to do everything he can for himself and his close buds. He has his own shows that are pro black because he knows that caters to the demographic to make him cash. It's about time people start seeing him for what he is, at least Michael Jordan played basketball well and was apt enough to not bite the hand that feeds which people shamed him for.

He is the product of a league that has bent backwards for the top stars of the game on the court(Ref calls) or off(Asking his input on all hot topics) and him being so outspoken is because he has a safety net most don't have the fortune to have.

The NBA have put themselves in this position by making it a player first league and deserve everything it has coming to it. LeBron trying to throw a GM under the bus for speaking up is pathetic. 

China hasn't magically changed recently, they are actually much more mellow than when companies initially decided they wanted to chase dollars from China.
So people have to decide whether their wallet or their heart is more important.
I see hypocrisy everywhere, if people want to support HK protesters, then they are free to boycott Chinese companies and products manufactured there... But people won't do this... As they tweet about it from their Chinese made cell phone as they watch events unfold on their Chinese built TV.

I am not even sure that China could function as a democracy and the HK protesters are welcome to leave at any time.

What we need is honesty, the NBA should just say we don't really give a crap about politics and we are here to play basketball as we promote and expand the sport... The End.

"The losses have already been substantial," Silver said at the Time 100 Summit, in his first public comments about the NBA's relationship with China since he returned to the U.S. from China earlier this week. "Our games are not back on the air in China as we speak, and we'll see what happens next."



"I don't know where we go from here. The financial consequences have been and may continue to be fairly dramatic."




Silver also addressed criticism of the league for its initial response to Morey's tweet, a statement that used the word "regrettable." That drew strong responses from some lawmakers, who saw it as the league acquiescing to the demands of the Chinese government rather than backing Morey's right of free speech. Silver said the word "regrettable" referred to the reaction of the Chinese government and its people, not the tweet itself.




"Maybe I was trying too hard to be a diplomat," Silver said. "I didn't see it as my role as the commissioner of the NBA to weigh in on the substance of the protest."


"We made clear that we were being asked to fire him, by the Chinese government, by the parties we dealt with, government and business," Silver said. "We said there's no chance that's happening. There's no chance we'll even discipline him."

"These American values -- we are an American business -- travel with us wherever we go," Silver said. "And one of those values is free expression. We wanted to make sure that everyone understood we were supporting free expression."





A lot of scrambling. A lot of fixing statements. I have to admit, I'm loving this shit. I'm loving to watch the NBA scramble and cower to the Chinese government. I love watching them lose money. I love it, love it, love it. And I'm a basketball fan! I just love that a corporation that has acted like they are the "voice of the voiceless" lately with their bullshit political knowledge. Now they're eating their own shit that was always spewing out of their mouths and it's costing them 'substantial' money. Good for them.

Meh, everyone always cares more about people that look like them. It’s not that surprising that Lebron cares about racism against black people in America but isn’t that worried about the oppressed people in Hong Kong. Those people are just costing him money.

It’s not perfect, but it’s pretty well how the world works everywhere.

Happy to be moving back to Pittsburgh where the NBA isn't a thing at all.

BEIJING -- China is refuting NBA commissioner Adam Silver's claim that it demanded the firing of Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey over a tweet that supported anti-government protests in Hong Kong.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang says the "Chinese government never posed this requirement."

During an appearance in New York on Thursday, Silver said the NBA was "being asked to fire [Morey] by the Chinese government, by the parties we dealt with, government and business."

Several Chinese companies, including the Chinese Basketball Association and state broadcaster CCTV, suspended engagement with the NBA after Morey's tweet.

The league and LeBron James, one of its biggest stars, have been heavily criticized by some U.S. lawmakers for the perception that they caved to the Chinese regime.

James and Adam Sliver flopped from a PR perspective on this issue.

I mean... is any American doing anything about this issue that isn’t driven by self-interest?

The Fox News fan base is attacking NBA players for being social justice warriors but not caring about Hong Kong when they themselves don’t cars or do anything about Hong Kong, they just want athletes to stop complaining about the omnipresent issue of racism here where it actually might affect them.

I don’t think anyone realistically believes that because Lebron cares about racism against black Americans that he has to care about injustice anywhere else in the world, it’s just one of the few times the Hannity types get to be on the right side of the argument against an NBA player so they’re howling.
