By year:
2010: Donkey Kong Country Returns(I played this on 3DS few years later but I am not counting remasters on this so I will give the original the nod) 2011: Batman: Arkham City 2012: The Walking Dead: Telltale Series(SEASON 1)(DUD year for me but this was the best telltale game) 2013: The Last of Us(Link between worlds was fantastic though) 2014: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze(Again I played the remaster on Switch but I am counting it for the original game. Sunset Overdrive and Shovel Knight deserve shoutouts!) 2015: Bloodborne(But honestly Rocket League is right there, I still play Rocket League daily) 2016: Dark Souls 3(Overwatch, Doom 2016, UC4 are fantastic too) 2017: Persona 5(NiOh 2nd) 2018: Spider Man 2019: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice(But honestly Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night was fantastic too)
FROM Software, Donkey Kong games and SONY exclusives.....yeah. That's my decade
I gotta think hard of a true top 10 of the decade. 2016 was the best year of gaming in a long time.

Blindy some really great games there, I love the telltale games and The Walking Dead season 1 is still one of the best by far. I wish I was better at Bloodborne lol, still such a great story for what I know of and Rocket League almost made my list as well. Considering it was a free game when I got it, I have played it more than most games I paid for. Definitely agree that 2016 was the best year for gaming

Pokemon Y (2013) - 249 Hours Nioh (2017) - 196 Hours Animal Crossing New Leaf (2013) - 172 Hours Persona 5 (2017) - 168 Hours Splatoon 2 (2017) - 135 Hours Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (2017) - 135 Hours Mario Kart 8 (2014) - 128 Hours Splatoon (2015) - 120 Hours Pokemon Moon (2016) - 72 Hours The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017) - 72 Hours I presume I spent a lot of time playing Rugby League 3 as well but my Wii bricked years ago and wiped 3 years of constant updates along with it. There's a couple of other games like Red Dead Redemption 2 that could possibly qualify but I can't see how much in-game time I've spent.
I thought this would be a more accurate way of showing off my favourite games. While there were other games that impressed me more, these were the ones I spent the most amount of time with.
I'm not sure how I'm going to cope in March - Nioh 2, Persona 5: Royal and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

I haven't played anywhere near as many games as I'd have liked to in recent years since getting a full-time job and a family, but even throughout the decade I've fallen far behind where I'd like to be. It's hard to balance shows, movies, wrestling, and games and get enough of any of them.
I've yet to play Spider-Man or God of War or Death Stranding or Bloodstained, though I suspect all of them would be on a top ten of the decade for me once I get to them.
I also have a terrible memory, but some highlights for me are:
2009 (Yeah, not in the decade. Sue me) - Majesty 2
This is by no means the most well-designed or technically impressive game, but it has a loving concept that has always managed to pull me in. The first one is one of my all-time favorite games and one of my most-played games as a child. The whole concept of automation in games has always intrigued me; for example, the monster arena in Dragon Quest VIII was my favorite part of the game. Well, in Majesty your whole Kingdom of heroes do whatever they want and act on their own. It's an anti-RTS where you construct the buildings and choose research but the only way you can get your heroes to actually do something is by offering them gold through bounty flags (which they will often ignore). The second one is not quite as good as the first, but I have spent many hours of both enjoyment and frustration over the last decade striving to get my heroes to actually beat the levels for me. And I'm still not through the last expansion for it yet. I managed to get Emperor to play through a good deal of the first one before the frustration got to him, so others may not have the heart to play through them like me.
2011 - Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception / 2016 - Uncharted 4: A Thief's End / 2017 - Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
Uncharted 3 is the first Uncharted I ever played back when I first got a PS3 in college and I fucking loved it. No game is more like a movie with as much action-packed fun built into it. I binge played through this entire game in two days, staying up until 5 AM and skipping class because I loved it so much. I played through Uncharted 4 shortly after getting married with a PS4 I got for Christmas, and my wife and I both loved it as well. It doesn't miss a beat either and the shoutout to Crash Bandicoot where it makes you play a level in there is a standout thing to mention. Lost Legacy was no different. All very solid games in this series that are some of the best gaming experiences I've had. The first two games are fantastic as well, though not quite as good as these latter three.
2016 - Overcooked! / 2018 - Overcooked! 2
Yet another game that isn't technically the most well crafted, but boy did they sure hit the jackpot with this gameplay idea. Incredibly addicting and fun. My game sessions playing this with my wife and Emperor are some of the most rewarding and memorable game experiences I've had. There's not much else to say here. I'm not even sure why it's so fun - it just is.
2018 - Red Dead Redemption 2
This game has a lot of bugs that have really frustrated me while playing it, but I can't help but feel attached considering I've spent the better part of the past year fixing many of those bugs. The game itself is really easy, but something about it just makes you want to keep playing. The open world concept and the technical achievements of raw graphical power put into it fuse together to create an endearing game, even if the gameplay isn't as fleshed out as I would have liked. The narrative is the driving force of it and I am a sucker for stories in games.
2019 - Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
What a fucking awesome game! I'm only a few bosses in, but it took a long fucking while to get there. The feel of swordfighting and blocking like a master ninja warrior and the rewarding feel you get when you accomplish the great feats of conquering these bosses is just unparalleled. One of the greatest games of all time.
I'm obviously missing a ton of stuff, as a decade is huge and too difficult for me to process all at once. But I will post about more games if/when I remember them.
2009 - Punch-Out!! (Wii) 2010 - Kirby's Epic Yarn (Wii) 2011 - Kirby's Return to Dream Land (Wii) 2012 - Kid Icarus: Uprising (3DS) 2013 - Pokemon X & Y (3DS) 2014 - Super Smash Bros. For Wii U 2015 - Shovel Knight (3DS/Wii U) 2016 - Kirby: Planet Robobot (3DS) 2017 - Splatoon 2 (Switch) 2018 - Kirby Star Allies (Switch) 2019 - Pokémon Sword and Shield (Switch) Games have been good to me. I am really impressed by this strong style Kirby gimmick.

I've not played so many games from this decade so I could list all of the games I really liked, although half of them are modern games made in retro style. Batman: Arkham AsylumGreat combination of action, adventure and puzzle solving. I can't really find any fault. The confined environment is great, compared to Arkham City, which is also great but gets marked down for getting a little too bloated/open worldy. UndertaleAmazing JRPG that uses fourth wall breaking, minimalism, and characters based on unpopular fonts to amazing effect. Still need to do a genocide run. Shovel KnightVideo games can often get away with really dumb concepts, and this is a shining example. Amazing platformer with silky smooth controls, great boss fights, and the perfect level of difficulty. The only game I've though about speedrunning. I'm not going to speedrun it, but I've at least thought about it. OvercookedAs Lionheart said, genius concept for coop gameplay. I don't think a better coop game can ever be created. It's that good. Endless fun. The Binding of IsaacOne of those games I've had to go cold turkey on because of it's insufferably addicting nature and infinite replayability. If you've never played it, think a 2D Zelda dungeon, randomly generated, and full of disgusting cartoon imagery. Poop and guts and blood. Chivalry: Medieval WarfareAnother cold turkey game. Think Team Fortress 2, but based on medieval combat, with actual sword swinging mechanics. Deathmatches in the throne room. Siege warfare. Kill the hing missions. The combat is very unique and takes a lot of practice to learn. At one time I was semi-competent, then I quit. I tried again a few years later and I was completely hopeless, and lots of people were using glitch exploits to get easy kills. At that point I realised I'm never going to play it again. Good times though. Good times. Dead SpaceYeah I know it's Resident Evil 4 in space, but it's awesome, so fuck you. OmniBusI learnt about this game from watching speedruns. Another really dumb concept. You drive a bus that is perpetually going forward and slowly accelerating. They built a whole video game around this, with worlds and levels and secrets and bosses. It's also a really fun and technically challenging game! Portal 2Suffered from the same sequel problem as Arkham City, but it's probably more of a me problem than a game developer's problem. The more open worldy a game gets, the less I like it, as a general rule.

2013 - The Last of Us
I was late to the party on this game, as with most, and didn't get to it until a year or two ago with the PS4 remaster. Holy shit though. What a game! It's very similar to Uncharted, but I have to give the slight nod to Uncharted over it for several reasons. First of all, huge props to the eerie and creepy atmosphere this game establishes throughout. I was creeped out early on and the feeling never went away. It also made me feel like I was actually in The Walking Dead, wandering through this fleshed out, albeit linear, world in fear of zombies around every corner. My only complaints are the friendly AI at times doesn't react to alarming events and gets in the wrong position sometimes and doesn't move. Also, the LoS was pretty bad with you blatantly standing in someone's view but it hitting some distance limit so they couldn't see you even in perfect light where you could see them. These things can take you out of the immersion quite a bit. Also, the crafting system is a huge chore. You have to constantly search every nook and cranny (literally opening a hundred cabinets inside every house) to gain crafting materials to make medkits and bombs and stuff, but it is very repetitive and because I am OCD it meant I had a huge excess of everything but rare chances to actually use it. But that was but a small inconvenience inside a fantastic experience.
I feel like I focused too much on the negatives, so I'll further say that the varied enemy types and environments are really well done and just when you think you have the hang of things you are thrown into a different situation where the enemies have an environmental advantage or a new enemy type comes out or there's a sniper attacking you from the other side of the map. It kept the game very challenging and fun to try and figure out how to get past each stage. Plus, the story is really good. One of the better video game stories with a plot that actually makes a lot of sense, has depth, and a very interesting controversial philosophical decision that the main character has to make that shapes the entire ending of the game.
The whole concept of automation in games has always intrigued me; for example, the monster arena in Dragon Quest VIII was my favorite part of the game. I knew you were strange, but this is another level of oddity. The Monster Arena is fun, but your favourite part of the game? Come on, man. Well, I admit to this being weird. The game is hugely enjoyable overall, but I spent many hours specifically trying to flesh out my Monster Arena team and repeatedly trying every time I advanced to a new area and caught a slightly more powerful monster to get past the next round and the next. So it was a very persistent part of the game to me and I was just fascinated by it. I am biased but it was the perfect hidden gem to satiate the desires of my weird personality. Perhaps it has something to do with Majesty and Dungeon Keeper being favorites of mien as a kid, so any kind of automatic fighting just sets off my nostalgia triggers.

2010 - Mass Effect 2 (New Vegas) 2011 - Skyrim (Dark Souls) 2012 - Mass Effect 3 (Dishonored) 2013 - The Last Of Us (GTA5) 2014 - Dragon Age: Inquisition (Sunset Overdrive) 2015 - MGS5 (The Witcher 3) 2016 - Doom (Stardew Valley) 2017 - Breath of the Wild (NieR: Automata) 2018 - Red Dead Redemption 2 (Tetris Effect) 2019 - Fire Emblem: Three Houses (Disco Elysium)
Mass Effect 2 is probably my favorite out of all of those, but beyond that, ranking would likely prove difficult.

Not gonna break down by year, but Path of Exile is clearly my favorite game of the decade. The league model works so well to keep the game fresh over long periods of time.

Missed this thread. I don't come in this forum very often.
I'll list my favourite games but the only order is my 1 & 2.
#1 - The Last of Us #2 - Breath of the Wild
After that, in no particular order....
Overwatch Spider-Man Days Gone Red Dead Redemption 2 Skyrim The Witcher 3 Whatever Batman games came out this decade. Played em all, loved em all. Super Mario Odyssey Uncharted 4 Bioshock 2 Bioshock Infinite Mario Kart 8 Minecraft
I'm probably forgetting some because I'm not sitting in front of my Switch/PS4 and can't remember all the games I have. That pretty much covers it though.
EDIT: GTA V is another one. I beat the main story and really enjoyed it but never really spent time sandboxing around the open world. Always meant to go back and play it some more but Online kind of took over and I got hooked on other games.
