After two weeks on the beach, and on board, AEW's back on the mainland, and back on live.
35 minutes until showtime.

I like seeing Double A as this type of manager. I was skeptical about the Anderson/Tully shit but I like it. I kinda wish Cody and Spears had a longer feud but whatever. Anderson doesn’t do much but just his presence makes everything feel legit. Cody can run the show without feuding for a title. And that playbook thing during the entrance was great.

Kudos to SCU for honoring Kobe Bryant with those Laker jerseys.

Love him or hate him, Cody’s entrance is fucking dope Cody's entrance is special Wrestlemania quality. Though it does makes him seem above and beyond nearly the entire roster I like seeing Double A as this type of manager. He is doing the role well but it seems better for a heel or someone not named Cody.

This week's episode of AEW was incredibly safe. Jericho/Moxley is the biggest match they can put together so they're milking it for everything it's worth. Which is why the show was formatted like a WWE show. You got your 15 minute opening promo segment between the two stars and then to close the show, the two go at it again in an all-in brawl. It's nearly as cliche as lazy security at a Pro Wrestling event, but I get the feeling the ratings will justify that decision.
Plus, I felt like it was an essential story beat with Moxley asking the question 'why not now'?
MJF needs to reconsider his investment, the Butcher and the Blade suck and the Bucks made relatively short work of them. They felt like an after-thought anyways as they continued the Bucks-Omega/Hangman storyline.
Swole had a decent showcase before going down to Rose. I'm not sure about her slaps and jabs, but her kicks were on point and she moved very well in the ring. I thought it was a good showing for the division as they look to get back on track after the Nightmare Collective farce. Hopefully it doesn't take another six episodes for Swole to appear on television.
I thought Sabien had his best showing in AEW against Cody. Cody has really helped elevate guys like Guevara, Allin, MJF etc. and a lot of these younger performers are getting better from the experience.
SCU quickly returned to the winners circle against the Hybrid2. It's been awhile since we've seen Hybrid2 on Dynamite and like Swole I hope we don't have to wait too long for their next appearance. I hope the Dark Order bring things ahead next week. They've been talking a big game since Double Or Nothing and so far they've delivered nothing but cheesy promos.
Finally, I thought the main event was a good showcase for Darby and Private Party. The Inner Circle continue to dominate in the six man tag format, and the Judas Effect continues to be the most deadly move in the company, one-shotting so many stars when they appear to be in control. My only complaint is that this match could have used more steam and I don't know where Darby or Private Party were for the opening segment. That was a golden opportunity to score some points against The Inner Circle, make a name for yourselves and do it.
Next week we've got Britt Baker vs. Yuka Sakazaki, Jon Moxley vs. Ortiz & The Elite vs. The Lucha Bros & The Butcher and The Blade. Cody also has to undergo 10 lashes from a leather belt from MJF.

BBB felt like they haven't won a thing as a tag team besides their debut. And I can't believe they actually had them working at a butcher shop.
Cody does help showcase better, but I think it is more most people in AEW don't know how to layout a match. Doing his matches Cody probably lays things out. But when it two people with not as much experience they may make them do it themselves.
Hybrid2 are mostly on AEW dark. AEW really wants their fans to watch all their youtube stuff since I think they reference watching Dark and Road to series as background to some of their matches.
I know Cody has his own thing but not sure why they said a match with the entire Elite

It's Emperor's snarky comments time.
Moxley remains the best thing on the show.
I know MJF brought Butcher and Blade into AEW, but why does he continue to pay them after he has seen their complete incompetence as mercenaries? Maybe his actual goal is for Butcher and Blade to be taken our in their work so he can have The Bunny to himself.
Kip Sabian vs Cody is everything I hate about how refs are presented in American pro-wrestling. The trigger happy ref would scream at Anderson if he so much as breathed too loudly, yet Penelope Ford wrestles half the match on Sabian's behalf and the ref doesn't notice a damn thing. Also, how did Joey Janela know that Sabian and Ford would kiss right in that spot? Did he crouch behind the guard rail the whole night with the perfect knowledge that that would happen?
No wonder Britt Baker took up wrestling; she's an awful dentist. Probably got sacked for telling customers to "brush their damn teeth". Better promo than last week, but hardly a masterpiece. Her new attitude is still very forced. But it's nice for someone to finally call JR out on his constant butchering of names.
God damn PAC is a great promo. A great character too. "The Bastard" fits him like a glove. He wields his accent like a warhammer.
To be honest, I skipped the main event, but that was a pretty good finish. Judas Effect from out of nowhere ain't bad.

MJF is such a good heel. I hope next week is the start of The Young Bucks heel turn. Their function to solid as babyfaces but much better as whiny entitled assholes. I think teams like The Lucha Brothers & SCU can not only thrive in both roles but they can maximize effectiveness & potential in both roles depending on the circumstances.
