So, now that that piddly little "Super Bowl" thing is over, the REAL football season can begin. Next Saturday, February 7th, the triumphant return of of the XFL is finally at hand. Who is the best team? Who is the worst team? Who are any of these people? Only time will tell. Be homer a pick a team based on location, be fashionista and pick the team with the best uniforms, be a bandwaggoner pick who ever does the best, or, just flip a coin, because...why the hell not? Probably not a long term decision anyway.
So...football is dead, LONG LIVE FOOTBALL!

Game times aren't ideal for me which is limiting my interest, but I'll be online posting about the final game of the week, St Louis vs Dallas.
If I had pick a roster I like the look of I'd go for the LA Defenders who have a couple of the best performers from the AAF in RB Jhurell Pressley and WR Rashard Ross, plus some CFB legends like Cardale Jones and Donnel Pumphrey.

I stuck with the original XFL until the bitter end. Week after week of terrible football did not drive me away. I see no reason to change course now. Will be watching unless life gets in the way. I'll have to watch a little bit before I pick a team though. Never know when a Derrick Henry will appear to capture my interest (sorry shinobimusashi but I like the Titans now :ugh: ) Last time Vince went though with this daft idea I was a San Fran supporter because they had the best crowd.

I'm not big on homerism, but since I live 2 hours from the Lou, I'll back the Battlehawks.
That said, I'm really pulling more for Shawn Oakman to ball out and get a shot at the NFL down the road.

Well, one half is in the books. Any early thoughts about the game?
I thought the talent was better than what the AAF offered. And I do like some of the new rules.

Houston's helmets look almost like the Oilers' old helmets of the late 60s/early 70s.
Except for the red facemask.

The Defenders stadium looked like it had pretty good attendance. Maybe people in DC are hopeful for a good team there, and not a shit show like the Redskins have been under Snyder's ownership.

Caught Seattle/DC mostly decent showing, clear why the QBs aren’t in the NFL though, weakest position in the game. Didn’t realize a few like Eli Rodgers were drummed out of the NFL, while not a top level guy, was a decent outlet receiver.
Definitely better football than the original XFL, would hope it could succeed, but I don’t have a lot of faith in it.

Enjoying this. The broadcast is fun with the extra access to the coaches and replay referees, and the rule changes with the kick offs and point(s) after plays make a lot of sense.
And I remember posting a lot about this last year during the AAF but the big one for me is the speed of play. A two hour game is perfect. The 25 second playclock and the dedicated ball spotter are big pluses.

Unfortunately it looks like I got the least exciting game of the weekend. I know Dallas didn't have their starting QB but they looked pretty ordinary - especially considering they were made the preseason favourites in Vegas.
Jordan Ta'amu looked very decent for St Louis - I believe he is the only QB in the league that didn't get drafted into the NFL so that's kinda interesting. Other really notable performance was from Marquette King who should quite obviously have never not been in the NFL.

Forgot all about this last week. Watched a few minutes of two games this today. I was not impressed. It definitely had that minor league football feel.
The intrusive interviews annoyed me watching at home. I would almost surely snap at them if I were a player who just threw an interception or whatever  Maybe that's what they want? #ControversyCreatesCash
What stuck with me most were the rule changes on extra points and kickoffs. I suppose they're operating under a "dare to be different" mantra. Oh, and every single person on the field being confused after a poorly explained booth review. That was amusing. DC looked dominant on defense.....or maybe New York's offense is just THAT bad. It's probably the latter.
Bad football or not, I'll most likely check out bits and pieces of future games on lazy Saturday & Sunday afternoons.

The attendance in Washington fell quite a bit from last week. It looked only half full at Audi Field, and that's only a 20,000 seat stadium.

Lost in all the other news, the XFL is over. Again.
Everyone fired today and all players released.

You have to wonder whether they would've survived even if this damn virus wasn't around.

Yeah, QB's were probably killing them regardless, they did some very good thing, their review format should absolutely be industry standard...but most of their QB's were dog shit. To put it into perspective, Landry Jones was a STARTING quaterback, that's how bottom barrel they were going. PJ Walker was the sole bright spot, followed up by the up and down Jordan Ta'amu, actually kinda hoping Steelers would have picked up one of the two with the XFL level QB's they have behind Ben. Either way, people weren't going to keep tuning in to watch poor QB performances for very long.

The pandemic is a saving grace for Vince's dignity here. Definitely going to be using it as the reason it fell apart, instead of anyone recognizing how stupid of an idea it was. Any bets on how long until we get XFL rebooted again?
