Last night, Nintendo released a Direct on Animal Crossing touching on all the latest features and essentially what I took from it is that along with the Deserted Island theme, the game will have a lot of the same features from past games. What really stands out to me about New Horizens is the level of customisation. In New Leaf, you had the ability to customise your town but there were limitations. Villagers could randomly plonk their houses and destroy all your handy and the lay of the land couldn't be customised. In New Horizens you have the ability to terraform to create your own rivers and walk-ways and they also allow you to build paths in-game instead of having to rely on custom-made textures. You can also outline pieces of land where the villagers can move to and it's easier now to invite villagers to your town. I presume it'll be easier to retain them as well, since New Leaf had a system where you had a limited amount of time to keep a villager in town and if you missed that window, they would just move.
If you've played an Animal Crossing in the past and if you were wondering if the series had evolved since Wild World, not really. It's still the same mellow experience where the real fun is going out and exploring other towns. The game is not for everybody so if you feel like you had your fill with past entries, you're not missing out.
Otherwise the game comes out on March 20th and has all sorts of online fuctionality. It'll be cool to visit some of your islands and see what you've got going on.

As someone who never played an Animal Crossing game before, I actually enjoyed the direct for what it was. I am mildly intrigued by the game and looking forward to my first experience with the franchise.

Nintendo doesn't know what it has done, giving me such level of control over the island.
I am ready and full of plans.

As someone brand new to the series, this game has been absolutely amazing and I find myself at least spending 90 minutes a day on my island and trying to advance the objectives as much as I can. This morning I needed to wake up because Daisy Mae was on the island and selling turnips she looks really cute and is doing it for her grandma back home so I felt like I had to buy some even if it doesn't seem worth it. She seems like a little kid so wanted to just be nice and help her business out, like a lemonade stand. She also continues to stand next to me whenever I have to step away from the controller for a little bit so felt sorta bad.
This Tom Nook dude is ridiculous though, just got my back room and now he has me on a 198,000 bell loan balance, fucking ridiculous.
Been recruiting like a mad man and helping out collecting museum necessities, this game is really, really fun. It's Bunny Day over on the island, collecting all the eggs that I can to get as much DIY material necessary!

Turnips are the best way to make money.
You buy as many as you can on sunday, then check the sell prices at Nook's Cranny every morning and afternoon, until you hit a good price and then sell, just make sure to sell before the next sunday, or they will rot.
If a friend has a better sell price than yours you can also just go visit their island sell there (and leave a tip to the island host, be nice!). I sold last week's haul of 4K turnips at a friend's island at a price of 558 bells per turnip, I'll let you figure out how much money that was.

I figured that just checked every day and saw the prices weren't that much better. HAD no idea the prices change 2x a day, holy shit. I was checking with the two Nook kids and saw a price and figured it was better than what I bought it for so I took it. I bought as much Turnips as I could this time around, really hoping to get more of a profit. Didn't even think about the island roaming part, my guy Nighty! NOW I am gonna check twice a day with these guys, have more wiggle room than I thought when it comes to selling them.
I forever thought why people continued to talk about this series and I nearly bit into New Leaf but this game has been fantastic. I am not even a Sims/Harvest Moon/Stardew Valley sort of player but this has been really, really fun. Really feels like you accomplished something by upgrading your house, island etc. Try my best to advance whatever I can before the day sorta ends by waiting on a new house to be built.

So I finally started playing Animal Crossing, I may or may not come to regret this, we will see. I have come to the conclusion though, that Tom Nook is lazy AF, ugh if you were gonna inspect the peaches yourself, why not just grab the six, you needed for the campfire in the first place.
Trashpanda's are the worst.

Purchased it today, only knew very small details about it but the way everyone’s hyping it up I thought I couldn’t be disappointed.
Enjoying so far but now I know what everyone’s talking about with the days thing, very unique concept. Though how do professional reviewers that have to get their reviews out quickly do just? Cheat the clock every day?

Enjoying so far but now I know what everyone’s talking about with the days thing, very unique concept. Though how do professional reviewers that have to get their reviews out quickly do just? Cheat the clock every day? Possibly, from the few reviews I read it sounds like they only played a few in-game days because they highlighted the slow start to game or gave a play by play on their own experience. Animal Crossing is one of those series that hasn't changed since the original, each edition makes incremental changes, so it's pretty easy to write 1000 words on all the new features and skip the rest.
The thing is with Animal Crossing, it's one of those games that comes down to the individual. How creative are you? How much are you willing to engage with the wider community? If you've got no interest in decor then it's going to seem like the most boring game imagineable.

I wish I would have known about upgrading pockets first before I spent my Nook Miles on other stuff. Loving it so far, is there any way to remove flowers though?
I don’t like the ones I choose for my garden 👰🏻

Just found the infamous Tarantula Island last night and cashed in big time, caught about 8 or so of the buggers. Tarantulas are borderline broken in this though, they are ridiculously quick which they can out run your net swipe to catch them so I got 1 shotted more than I actually caught them, absolutely ridiculous especially when there's 2-3 because while you are showing off your capture, a tarantula is already next to you and stings you to death.
The reason I was able to make over 100,000 grand was because this emo kid Flick who is a bug collector was there last night and I was able to pawn off all the Tarantulas enough to have a roof now built! Still a 2 star island and I had thought about building a bridge which is ridiculously overpriced but wanted to get that roof over my head.

You need to do all of the stuff Nook asks of you if you want to reach the credits and unlock terraforming.
Build that bridge, put up three new houses for more villagers afterward, upgrade resident services, there is a whole lot of stuff to do, you're best bet is to continue asking Nook "what should I do" to keep up with the main progression.

I am so hooked on this game! Got K.K Slider to visit and have a full island..just working on getting rid of Rodney as he was my first camper . Perfect game for isolation though Nook's Cranny shutting at 10pm wil be really annoying when I go back to work.

One more home loan to pay off and I’m done 🥳 I have the funds but I’m going to buy more turnips first to have more bells afterward. Also finally got Rodney off my island, sandylea thinks I’m a horrible person for exercising many human rights violations to get rid of him but he wasn’t invited in the first place! 😡
