I’m fucking losing my mind right now.

Like all VG adaptations, believe it when you see it.

If things go smoothly and it actually gets moving quick, offer whatever it takes to get Hugh Jackman.

I’m optimistic considering who is running the show. Original game creator + writer that had one of the best series of television ever made...like they would have to actually try to fuck it up.

We ever get that Speilberg Halo show?

It certainly has the potential to be the greatest video game adaptation in history.

My only issue is that the appeal of the Last of Us was how it felt like a video game adaptation of a movie. In which case it felt heavily inspired by 28 Days Later, right down to the final mission that's eerily similar to the movie. It was hardly the most original property out there story-wise, but it was the fact that it was an interactive adaptation that made it stick out.

I'm sure it will be good, but The Last of Us would be one of the last series I'd want to see adapted since it basically writes itself.

I'm trying to think of a video game adaptation I'd actually like to see - Killer 7 directed by Lynch would be unreal. Otherwise give me a Phil Lord Super Mario Bros movie.

I got a feeling they’re going to pull a Witcher, in that Joel and Ellie are established early on in the first season, but they don’t meet until the end.

I think they’ll drag out the outbreak a little and show us some of what happened between the initial outbreak and Joel and Ellie meeting. Season 1 ends with them meeting.

I think the biggest reason video game movies flop is because they just pick games that already have a huge following. You’re asking for trouble when you do that, but the studios have to bank on fans going to see the movie no matter what, so I get it.

I wish they would tackle games that have a really awesome setting or idea, but kind of flopped so that fans don’t care as much if the movie sucks. Like Watch_Dogs for example. Really cool universe, terrible execution.

But at the same time I would mark out if someone made a Legend of Zelda series and did it right so what do I know.

For the role of Ellie, I'd like to see two actors portraying her at different ages. I'd have Millie Bobby Brown play young Ellie, and Ellen Page play the adult version of her.

Even in Tlou2 Ellie is like 18-19 I believe.

I wonder if they don't go Joel and Ellie in this which seems silly enough and have a brand new cast of characters altogether but still have clickers, bloaters, runners etc. How far do you stray off the first two games if you are creating a show? Even The Walking Dead's TV show changed up so much from the comics, like does Tess

90210 had actors in their 30s playing teenagers.

So if they can do that, I'm sure Ellen could do the same here.

I would hate that. Millie Bobby Brown is Eleven and that show is still being made. And she’s an outcast on that show with a father figure guiding her. The similarities would be too much.

Ellen Page would be fine if they jumped to her being an adult but I don’t really see that happening.

And I think it’s a given there will be other characters or story arcs. Gotta fill in the episodes some how. I’m excited to see how they expand the universe.

Page is a wee bit too old now to play Ellie.

Super excited for this. Great creative team on it, great universe and story to use as a base and HBO is really backing this.

That's Russell Crowe. Boy Crowe as Joel would be something else.

Hugh Jackson was in the film too but man Russell Crowe improving needs to happen asap.

Even though he’s perfect, they might look away from Jackman because Logan was basically “the Last of Us Mutants,” straight down to the reluctant father growing to do anything to save his now full on daughter figure more and more as the story goes on. But, he is perfect, so maybe they don’t care.

Hopefully if it’s a full series they explore more of Joel and Tommy’s early days in the apocalypse, get most important part for Ellie just by adapting Left Behind. Honestly, kind of be okay with the aforementioned Witcher method, explore their backstories more leading up to the ultimate kick off of the main narrative. Then again, you get enough story that you already have a season’s worth of content in a mostly direct adaptation.
