I should clarify something. Benoit was my #1 before his passing, nowadays I'm unsure where he falls because I haven't really thought of him in that way. I can go back and watch a Benoit match just fine, but I wouldn't feel comfortable calling myself a Chris Benoit fan. Before his passing, he was usually the one guy I'd go out of my way to watch and I was never let down. I considered what he pulled off with MVP at those recent shows to be a minor miracle and was eagerly looking forward to his match against CM Punk at Vengeance.
I feel the exact same way. Benoit would probably have been number 5 on my list, or maybe even higher as he moved into a grizzled old vet phase - but it's just so hard to know how to place him. So I left him off my list, but it didn't feel right.

I'm just not voting for Benoit. He would have been high on my list if this were done before he murdered his family.
Now, I just can't. It's one thing to draft him in a pretend draft that ultimately means nothing, it's another to declare him as one of my favourite wrestlers after what he did.

So do I have to put Benoit #2 (behind Lesnar, duh) to counterbalance for everyone not ranking him where he rightly probably should be based on his body of work?

And Scott Steiner sits on the Board of Supervisors for Suplextown. And Brock will forever and always be the Nightmayor of Suplex City. Man, I want to live in Suplex Nation so bad!

nazzer is right about #47 being too low for Taz. But #1 is a wee bit high. #13 is just right. Controversial Opinion: Brock is highly overrated as a suplexer. He throws fewer suplex variations than ancient Harley Race! Not sure Brock would make my Top 10 suplexers. Sorry not sorry 🤯 . Fwiw Angle is also overrated as a suplexer for a similar lack of diversity in suplexing. Suplex Specialists, Ranked
1. Taz: Sultan of Suplexcellence
2. Scott Steiner: Thane of Throws 3. ?? Not sure. Lots of people come to mind. But can't think of any one guy or gal who stands head and shoulders above the rest. One contender is... Chris Benoit- Who made the bottom quarter of my list in more or less the same place he would have been prior to late June 2007. This is what I wrote in the opening post of my 200 Favorite Wrestlers thread which lead directly to this countdown.... If you don't want to vote for Benoit, that's fine! I don't care who you vote for*, or for what reasons. Just vote. *OK, so this is not 100% true. You should all vote for Matt Hardy. And also Taz. At #13. Seriously though. Vote. I haven't received a ballot in like a week. Now I'm stuck inside with nothing pressing to do. Would be a good time to receive some ballots and continue tallying up the point totals well ahead of schedule.

Baker my list is nearly done, by which I mean I have written down about 60 wrestlers I like and need to make cuts, rank them, then try to remember the name(s) I know I forgot. So I should have something in by the weekend.

Received another ballot this afternoon. That brings us up to 5.
145 different wrestlers have received a vote. Only 4 wrestlers have appeared on all five ballots. The current #1 increased their lead and is now 31 points above the next closest competitor. 9/10ths of the Top 10 is about what you'd expect. But that 10th wrestler is definitely a weird "only on PW" quirk. The current #21 is somebody I expected to finish much, much higher. 35 wrestlers have surpassed the coveted fifty point level. Meaning they've earned pics when reveal time comes. Many legendary big name Hall of Fame wrestlers have received only 1 or 2 votes.

Received a 6th ballot last night....
170 wrestlers have now received a vote. 45 of those wrestlers have crossed the coveted 50 point plateau. All six ballots have had a different wrestler at #1. And then there was one. Only 1 wrestler has been on all six ballots. Oddly enough, this wrestler just now creeped into the Top 10 for the first time. #1 remains the same, but a new #2 has climbed to within 10 points of our leader, while a new #3 is within 21 points of the longtime front runner. The cream is beginning to rise to the top. Top 10 is about what you'd expect. Top 20, too.... With the exception of "oddballs" at #11 & #13.

170 different names on 6 ballots is pretty wild, if my maths are correct that means half of each list is unique?
Only one wrestler on every list is surprising too.

170 different names on 6 ballots is pretty wild, if my maths are correct that means half of each list is unique? Your math seems logical to me. Meh. I've got the lists right in front of me. Let's find out.... Wrestlers only receiving one vote so far by voter
Voter #1- 19 Voter #2- 12 Voter #3- 23 Voter #4 (35 wrestler ballot)- 7 Voter #5- 26 Voter #6- 25 *112 wrestlers have received only one vote. So about 66% of those 170 wrestlers are one vote wonders. However, about 61% of all votes cast were for wrestlers with multiple votes. I....don’t really understand how that can be. This math is beyond me :lol

Whew I got a list in. Some of those cuts were friggin tough. I had to pull off a few names that I didn't feel great about.
I ranked and re-ranked my list about 10 times before I said fuck it and sent it in. I was tinkering with it too much.
My list is very "2000's and beyond" heavy. I've only a few wrestlers from the 80s & 90s. When I was a kid there were two wrestlers I cared about and if they weren't involved in what was going on I didn't pay attention.
Mid-2000's indie scene and modern day heavily influenced my list. Quite a few Japanese stars on my list too.

I get entirely too excited whenever I receive a new ballot. More stats~!
7 people have voted. All 7 voters had a different #1. 1 wrestler has still appeared on every single ballot. 189 wrestlers have received a vote. 53 wrestlers have crossed the 50 point milestone. 23 wrestlers have reached 100 points. 2 wrestlers have exceeded 200 points. The longtime leader now holds a landslide lead of 50+ points.

Just to confirm this is favourite, as opposed to greatest or best? Because that is a far easier list to throw together.

I swear I predicted his #36! Kid’s completed ballot is a perfect example of how every vote counts. He just bumped two more wrestlers over the 50 point plateau, another over 100 points, and....other spoilery stuff.

Alright, done dicking around, will start making my list tonight, might even finish it because I got nowhere to go tomorrow, obviously.
EDIT: Also, not saying this should definitely be done, but banning anyone that votes for Kane should at least be considered.
EDIT EDIT: Have a completed Top 50 that I could live with, but it's such a boring list that I can't yet hand it in. Will sleep on it, take a look tomorrow, hope to have an epiphany of some kind or develop shame that Sid is on it.

No lie, I nearly voted for Kane based on his WWF Wrestlemania 2000 character. Until I knew any better, I was so into the pyromaniac phantom of pro wrestling and naturally presumed he was the coolest wrestler in all of wrestling. That illusion was shattered when they gave him a voice box and put him in a relationship with Tori.
List is in, it's my original top 30 that I put together earlier this year for a seperate board with an additional 20. A couple of them should have been on the original Top 30 but I expect they'll still pop up so no harm, no foul. There was sort of a first come first served flavour from 31-50 and a few epiphanies in there that shocked me.
