Cena's greatest rival and dance partner is CM Punk. Everything they do together is pure magic. Edge, The Rock, AJ Styles, Randy Orton, and JBL would all feature as better rivals of Cena than Lesnar. Probably The Miz, RVD, HBK, Triple H, Batista, and Kevin Owens as well. Shit, I forgot Punk and AJ and Rock. Miz is a good shout too. But don't be sleeping on the quality and duration of the Cena/Lesnar rivalry. You FORGOT three of the greatest wrestlers of all time? What the fuck? Anyway, who do I send this list to? I already have a ranked list with literally everyone I like that I maintained years ago. It will need updating though. Shark Boy may or may not be #1 on it.

Also, this is Cena feuds we're talking about. Not those other wrestlers and their standalone careers. Don't be a pseudo intellectual.

Not those other wrestlers and their standalone careers. Don't be a pseudo intellectual. Punk is way better than Miz and AJ. What the Hell? On the stick, Punk is maybe better than AJ... Or at least pre-WWE AJ. In the ring? AJ has Punk's number. On the stick, Miz passes Punk easily 9 times out of ten. Which is impressive considering Miz was essentially born and bred in modern era WWE's overly scripted environment. Miz might be Punk's equal I the ring or a step behind, but again... Considering Miz's only pro wrestling existence has been modern era WWE, that's a way more impressive thing to say about Miz than it is about Punk. Punk just struck a chord with grungy grease rats who thought they were latching onto the second coming of Steve Austin. And then they all got butt hurt when Punk ultimately proved to be a bust.

Oh I’m definitely a greasy rat. And Brock appeals to dumb jocks who want “real” legit shoot fighters.
Also, I think you’re in the minority saying Miz is better in the ring than Punk. AJ I can see. Miz is a perfectly average wrestler with the occasional good performance. However, Punk is easily better in the ring than the Miz. Miz never had matches on the level of MITB 2011, SummerSlam 2013, the Joe series, and Taker WM 29. Punk is an underrated big match performer as well where Miz doesn’t have that.
On the mic, it’s closer but I always gravitated more towards Punk’s style a lot more. Miz can cut fantastic heel promos that make you want to see him get his ass kicked but Punk had that ability too and could also cut some fiery baby face promos that you could really invest in and get behind. Punk was just more dimensional as a character imo.
It’s funny you hate on Punk when both he and Lesnar had one of the best matches of their career against each other. Punk fans and Lesnar fans should get along.
In the end, Punk, Brock, and AJ made my list. I love all three of those guys. Miz never connected with me.

Also, 🤯. Punk just had this to say about The Beast Incarnate: "I don't want to ruin his image," Punk said. "I think he's a f---in' sweetheart. This is a guy, when I got into MMA and I left wrestling, he was texting me, 'Hey, if you need any help.' I'm always kind of a standoffish guy. It's hard to open up and trust people in the pro wrestling world. But he was never anything but a real sweetheart. It was a pleasure to work with him. He's just a great guy, I think. I think I'm one of the lucky guys who he wanted to work with in pro wrestling. We put together a pretty special match. I don't think Brock gets the credit for how smart of a wrestler he is. "I didn't know how Brock was going to be receptive to any ideas. So I, especially at that point in my career, I was like, 'Let's just go out there and call it in the ring.' He was totally stoked to do that. I kind of said, 'I just want to do this and this and this.' He said, 'Oh.' After every idea I had, he had three ideas that spun off that he wanted to do. It was fun. That match is everything that I loved about pro wrestling. Just two guys coming together and being like, 'F---, let's just do whatever we want and have fun.'" Punk continued, "I think Brock has got a big heart, and that's something a lot of people don't talk about. They'll talk about the freak strength and the crazy athletic things he's done in his career, the accomplishments. But they don't talk about the fact that he loves his wife, his kids, lives on a farm and just kind of wants to be left alone. All the fame and the money and everything is really just a side effect of being successful at what he wants to do. And he does what he wants, when he wants. That's the beauty of Brock Lesnar." See 🤯. Punk fans and Brock fans should be friends.

I just sent my list to Baker. I moved Punk up and Brock down my list to spite 🤯. I feel like I'll be the high votes for several wrestlers.

Sat and put together a list tonight. Outside of the top 20 or so the order is pretty loose. Found it more difficult to decide on the lower spots than the higher ones.
Going to sit on it overnight, look it over tomorrow and then I'll probably end up submitting it as it is

11 ballots are in. A pair of wrestlers have now received two 1st places votes. And then there were none. No wrestler has appeared on all 11 ballots. The longtime leader continues to runaway with this thing, but everything else has been in a state of constant flux. 89 wrestlers have reached 50 points with no end in sight. One of my big wishes for this project was to get 100 wrestlers with 51 points or more. We are probably going to shatter that mark. 51 points is a good milestone because it eliminates individual quirks. At least 2 voters are needed to get a wrestler to 51. Kilgore UT Emperor Strobe Rogue Lionheart and @ck have all expressed interest in voting. If all those people vote that brings us up to a whopping 18 participants. I will also tag bodyslam since he's participated in some of my previous countdowns and 🤯 neglected him when he tagged practically everybody else yesterday.

I got my list in and I'm sure it's quite different than most. I left off quite a few very popular wrestlers that never did anything for me, but I'm sure they'll be fine in the rankings...whereas my guys need all the help in the world.

Looking at my list right now, I think I'm going to have very few unique picks, but fuck it, I'm handing it in. Guess I'll just affect the final rankings more than anyone else.

Received two more ballots this evening. That brings us up to 13.
251 different wrestlers have received a vote. 10 wrestlers have received a 1st place vote. 96 wrestlers have reached the coveted 50 point milestone. 1 is closing in on 500 points. 9 have topped 300 points. 19 are above 200. And 48 have exceeded 100. The leader is a ridiculous 135 points above the next closest competitor. 2 wrestlers have appeared on 11 ballots. Nobody has been on 12 or 13. The number of one vote wonders continues to plummet. They have only received about 18% of the total votes. It was around 39% just a few days ago. And there are still a good number of wrestlers, old school and new, who I’m surprised have only one vote.

I expect my list to bring that one hit wonder rate up a bit. I may have a high-ranked one hit wonder, but I’m not sure. Let me know once I submit the list! I am waiting to confer with Emperor before sending it to make sure I didn’t miss anyone.
Also, I found an old top 50 list of Emperor’s from a decade ago that he sent me. Can the Emperor of the past submit that list as a separate participant alongside the present Emperor? Past Emperor and Present Emperor have completely different tastes.

It's been a minute, but I remember Cena being really wishy-washy with Punk. Punk would be there saying he hated everything Cena stood for and before he walks out on the company he's going to embarrass him meanwhile Cena is all like I respect your opinion dawg and I hope the fans get what they want like some diplomat. It really took HHH to talk some sense into the Punk feud and nobody wanted to hear it because it's the guy who simulated necophilia on live television.
Punk came out of the Cena feud looking like a million dollars, on the other hand it just gave fans one less reason to hate John. He no longer held the WWE Title captive which fans for whatever reason get their nickers in a twist over. It didn't stop John from main eventing more shows than Punk or being THE guy.
Meanwhile guys like Kurt, Edge, Brock, JBL, Umaga etc. did more for Cena's career.

Got mine in. That was tough with a ton of hard cuts.
Top 4 could be in any order really on any given day. 5-11 are just barely a tier below.

After my initial draft of my list, William Regal was at #51 and I was determined to find a way to get him on the list. I really like him and there was no way he wasn't making it. Not only did I fail, but he got pushed all the way down to #58 in the end. I hate that Ishii didn't make my final cut either as he is one of the most consistent and best workers in NJPW, but I just like too many damn wrestlers.
The list started off easy but got very hard to finish up once I started remembered stragglers and determining who I had to kick off the bottom of my list.
Do I even have a single lone wolf? I don't know anymore. I was banking on Sandow, but I even managed to get Emperor to finagle him into his list at the #50 slot.
