Not sure if it's Corona Virus related or if Sony's decision to cancel their presentation is what got the ball rolling.
Either way, it's a shame. E3 was always incredibly fun and I used to love watching the GT/Easy Allies reactions.
I'm sure another convention will rise in it's place, but with the new consoles launching, things are going to be incredibly different than what they were in 2013.

Good, the last thing the world needs at the moment is a large amount of people gathered with poor hygiene.

It's probably been on the verge of not being a thing for years hasn't it? With the big companies doing their own directs and such.

The Bombcast brought up a good point, several major companies are likely to do their own thing now, MS has already announced a digital event. This is going to lead to the big players to see what is probably going to be minimal difference in sales from going to E3 vs not going go E3, and they will have no reason to spend millions attending again. That is going to suck for smaller and mid tier publishers.
Also, it appears WB was planning to have their first press conference at an E3 this year, to announce the new Batman, the Harry Potter Game that leaked a little over a year ago, and Rocksteady's new game. Would have been great.

Since everyone can launch stuff to their own platforms too, they can do the same big reveal stuff but in a studio.
