WWF In Your House: Bluenose Top 15
Hi all, I used to post quite a bit on PW during 02 to 08 and recently started watching a lot of wrestling again, in particular old WWF PPVs on the network from the 1990s. Whilst stuck in isolation I thought I would give a quick rundown on my top 15 favourite matches from the In Your House PPVs. Will post a couple a day and hopefully it inspires some discussion and for anyone who hasn’t seen them to fire them on and give them a go. Two names seem to consistently appear on the list, and it is no coincidence I regard these two to be in the top ten workers of all time.
I will kick it off with number 15 and 14 on my list.
15. Bret Hart vs The Patriot: WWF In Your House 17 Ground Zero

Rewatching this match all these years later it does tend to look more like a Raw Main event however I have always held a soft spot for it. Patriot enters the arena to Kurt Ankles music and then out comes Bret to a chorus of boos. Brets Heel run in 1997 is one of my favourites and at this point he was well and truly into it playing Canadian villian who hated all things American. There is a great spot where Bret wraps the figure four round the ringpost and is working on the leg continously. Great psychology. There is some interference from Davey Boy then Vader comes to the save and the Patriot then starts to gain some momentum landing some power moves and near falls. After around 20 mins the Finish then comes when Bret reverses the sharpshooter and makes him tap. Decent backstage segment after the bout as well. Not an all time classic but a really fun match in my eyes and makes number 15 on my list.
Up Next at 14 we have
14. Steve Austin vs Savio Vega: WWF In Your House 8 Beware of the Dog (Strap Match)

Throughout the lead up to this match, the Million Dollar Man Ted Dibese had vowed to leave the World Wrestling Federation if he lost, and if he won then Savio Vega had to become his personal chauffeur. This bit of build up added to the drama. At the time neither name was a big star in the company so there were little expectations however both battled it out back and forward both in and out the ring making great use of the strap for some sweet spots. After a good 15 minute battle Steve Austin looked like he was about to be victorious touching the turnbuckle as per the match rules. However the sweet spot at the end is that Vega was also touching the turnbuckles and as Austin launched him into the last turnbuckle unaware of Vegas actions Savio Vega was declared the winner. A really really solid mid card fight, although as good a match as this was it wasn’t even the best on the card.
