Fucking pissed that we Canadians are getting snubbed out of this doc.
Two years of promotion, and we still get the short end of the stick.

From the first three episodes I watched, it is quite the watch. This is O.J.: Made In America on steroids. I really love how the series is being paced. The first one tells about how this is the beginning of the end, while also telling how Jordan's career began. The second on Pippen, his arrival, and his terrible contract. And now the current one with Rodman, and the Bulls' feud with the Pistons. It all blends together perfectly.

We didn’t get snubbed we just get new episodes a day late for some reason. They drop on Sunday in the US and Monday up here. I’m behind. Only watched the first two episodes so far. Absolutely loving it though.

How’s everyone liking it so far?
My opinion: this might be the best sports documentary ever.

As a Bulls fan bring back memories… The first two episodes making me hate both Jerry Krause and Jerry Resindorf even more but I do feel a little bad for Krause... Pretty cool they tidbit about Rodman and the bad boys days(Fuck Bill Lambier & Isiah Thomas.).

I could never understand why he did that. I hope they get more into it before the end.

I don't usually venture in here, but I've been watching this since yesterday. Once upon a time I was a huge NBA fan. I started to watch in about 86/87 until the Bulls won their last Championship in 1998 (I had my daughter in Jan '99). When I first started watching my favorite teams were the Celtics and Pistons. I honestly didn't jump on the Bulls band wagon until '89 when Phil Jackson became coach. Before then MJ was pretty much a one man band and I felt something wasn't cohesive with them as a team. That seemed to change under Phil Jackson.
I just finished episode 4, but I think so far they've done a great job showcasing some of the bigger names, the behind the scenes tensions between players, between players and management, and overall mindsets on the rise of the dynasty. I am waxing nostalgic right now and feeling like a teenager again.
There were lots of behind the scenes things I didn't remember or know about. I do absolutely remember thinking Krause was the dumbest Mofo of all time talking about trading in his cash cows when they were still bringing home the bacon and creating that tension. I remember the tensions with Pippen when he decided to get surgery late to prove a point, but I didn't know about Phil's methods of training them to become the team they became, or about what a tyrant Michael could be. He had a point though, if you aren't playing to win, why play?
Really well done so far. Looking forward to the next 3 episodes.

I don't want to crap on it, because it is very good, but Jordan had it made because he thought he was being forgotten about. So to me it's Jordan going, I'm still better than Lebron, here's why.
Best sports documentary that you've seen most likely, ever...nope.

I don't want to crap on it, because it is very good, but Jordan had it made because he thought he was being forgotten about. So to me it's Jordan going, I'm still better than Lebron, here's why. Best sports documentary that you've seen most likely, ever...nope. He's not? I think LeBron is a better all around team and defensive player, but scoring? game IQ? Killer instinct? No way. NBA now vs NBA in Jordan's day, I wonder how many of the top players now would have made it. It's a totally different game. It's why guys like Kobe excelled, because he mirrored his game after guys like Jordan. I do see alot of egos in it, but it's not like they didn't earn the right to them. Also, I'll say this about MJ. He is loyal AF if you are loyal. Look at how he was with regards to Reebok and Nike during the Olympics. Nike was part of his business and money and he wasn't going to test that. However, if the other party tests or disrespects that loyalty, it's over. Looks at Krause, Isiah Thomas, even the fair weather fans. He is intense.

ALL of the TOP PLAYERS would make it and even more borderline players. It was a way more physical game in the 80's & 90's. Every ticky tack foul is called today, unlike then. The 3 pointer is actually a thing now. Players like Bird, Magic and Jordan would average a triple double, if not better. Jordan was 9x All Defense first team, 3 time steals leader...I'm not going to get into a stat war, because it's a different era, but Lebron didn't do that. Jordan still better than Lebron.

Ummmm. I agree with you on both points: that Jordan was the better player (I thought you were saying he wasn't) and that the game was more physical in the 80's and 90's. Maybe what I was trying to say got lost in translation.

Just finished Episode 8. Now I have to wait until the 18th. My mom actually sat down and watched them with me. She no watches sports, but she found it super interesting. Jordan and the way he motivates himself to the point of making up something in his mind is crazy to me, but hell if it doesn’t work. It’s Probably a foreign concept to me because I have zero idea what motivates me. Another thing I’m enjoying is the soundtrack. So many great songs. If anyone is interested there’s a Spotify playlist. www.google.ca/amp/s/www.cbssports.com/nba/news/the-last-dance-songs-playlist-for-michael-jordan-documentary-released-on-spotify/amp/I was convinced 92 Bulls team was the best but after watching maybe it was 96. Hard call.

Is this the most compelling thing Jordan has been featured in since Space Jam?

It’s entertaining, but definitely feels like a Jordan infomercial at times. I wish the show used more of the 1998 stuff instead of spending so much time on the other seasons.
The last episode ending with Reggie saying “I’m going to retire Michael Jordan” made me long for the old days though. This is around the time I picked the Pacers as my team.
As for the 80’s/90’s being more physical, yada, yada is fine. The league was also considerably less athletic at the time and size was treasured in a way it just isn’t now. So Jordan and Pippen would still be awesome now, but there’s a world of players they were playing against that wouldn’t have jobs in the league anymore because they couldn’t shoot, dribble or move quickly.
Do I think Jordan would be a freak today? Of course. But the game’s so different now that both eras have plenty of guys who couldn’t hang in the other era.
