Tacked it on here as this was a thread about gun violence. And I do not believe that people who commit acts of gun violence differ by country at all, given people from different countries posted on 4chan before the shootings and their messages do not differ.
Also is this really true that the countries are so different when it is a three hour drive or so from Maine to Nova Scotia? Most major cities are only a few hours from the US. Even if Canada locks own gun trades, with hundreds of millions guns in the US, our guns will flow upward. And our beliefs in how to use them.

Tell me how many times you've been to Canada, where you live, how many canadians you interact with. Perhaps I could explain to you how little you know of Canada. Proximity does not equal similarity. Especially with guns, Americans are unique in their opinions on guns, as seen in the stats. Did you not read the data in the links in my last post? Also, your post is a pretty good example of the uselessness of the gun ban we've implemented. Why bother banning guns when we share a border with a country who makes it so easy to get guns? People will just smuggle them here and the ban will just punish responsible gun owners.

Only 20 percent of Canada opposes the ban. About 50 percent say it should include all guns.

I can't imagine what that community and the families of those people are going through. I'm not from the community that these tragedies took place in, but I live close to them and have people who work in my company that have been personally affected by what took place. I actually have a work associate, that I would consider a very close friend, that grew up, literally, 5 minutes from the community of Portapique. He knew people who were victims. This is going to be a black mark on this province forever.
The details that have come out as to what happened have shaken not only communities, but the entire province. It's been a few weeks, and I still don't even know what to say about it. The details are horrific.
To comments that RT made, I've also seen assholes who have said that if some of the victims had guns themselves that they could've stopped this guy. This guy set houses on fire and killed people as the exited, and killed people as they tried to attend to help neighbours. He killed a woman on her morning walk. He used his fake police cruiser to pull unsuspecting people over on the highway and shoot them.
Fuck anyone who plays a fucking armchair quarterback on this situation. It's something I won't debate, they can go fuck themselves thoroughly.

Every country that put a gun ban in place saw gun crimes drastically drop. Turns out nutjobs do not commit as many violent crimes without easy access to guns. I am curious why Canadians believe they can simply ignore one of God's 10 commandments. The second commandment clearly states that people shall have the right to bear arms. This was give directly from God to Moses. What is next, is Canada going to allow the worship of golden calves? Oh believe me. I’ve seen a few comments about the Nova Scotia shooting that made my skin crawl. “If those people he targeted had guns he probably would have been stopped a lot sooner!” No mention of the fact he bought his guns illegally from a US dealer. That part gets ignored, of course. I just hope that this extended gun ban Trudeau handed down ends up giving border security more power to prevent firearms from entering Canada. I’m sure this was more of a political gesture than anything but whatever. I’m never going to complain about fewer guns being legal. My extended family on the other hand...fuck. They all hunt and own rifles legally and act like Trudeau personally fucked all their wives. I hear you chief. While I don't think owning a bolt action rifle for hunting or recreation is a bad thing, anyone who thinks their right to a semi automatic weapon is more important than the safety of their community can go fornicate with themselves. Hand guns and military style automatic weapons are designed for killing people. That is all they are designed for, so what are we saying about our society when we weigh our theoretical rights to own them against a school shooting? If people want to argue for a hand gun for self defence, okay I guess... But someone needing to own an AR-15? Needing? Come on, let's all just be honest and say people like guns a lot more than they like a society where people they don't know get shot and killed.

I absolutely believe that such people have the right to their only form of medical treatment being leaches and I would happily support them launching a coup with a musket.
