If that caveat applies, then we're going have to go with something like five hours, because some games take that amount of time to get past all the setting the scene/tutorial bullshit. The stuff that 🤯 doesn't like  How much time did you spend playing Shadow of the Colossus? Boy... five hours feels a little stiff. Admittedly, I probably didn't spend more than 15 minutes actually PLAYING SotC because I was so bored after all the introductory cut scenes. Had there been a way to skip that and jump right into gameplay, I wonder how long I would've lasted? If Warzone didn't have me addicted to it like crack right now, I could perhaps be bothered to give SotC a second shot. But not a fair chance if a fair chance is five hours (unless it hooks me somehow after the 15-minute mark). I'll counter that any game, if it's supposedly "good", should be able to hook any player within an hour of actual gameplay time.

Nothing is going to cater to the whimsical variations of personalities amongst all the masses. Tons of people like cutscenes. Call it like it is. You’re just impatient. It doesn’t cater to you because you are too busy staring at mountains of latinas to choose for your coronapocalypse draft picks.

And I'll concede that maybe certain genres of games require intro games to start someone into the genre who's not already familiar. And also, you're right. Nothing will ever pry me away from my mountains of Latinas. (Except maybe naked Disney princesses.)

I'm with 🤯, I buy video games to play the game, not to watch cut scenes, if that was the case, I'd save $80 dollars and go see a movie instead. I won't even get started on patches, loot boxes, etc., since this isn't the thread for it.

I have never been much of a fighting game guy, so my ratings are particularly subjective for that genre. As for what gets a 10 from me...SMB3, RE4, Persona 4, Breath of the Wild, and a handful more. I really only feel comfortable saying a game is a 10 for me if it is one of my all time favorites.

I'm going to practice the cig system on my own list: 1. WWF No Mercy - 9.5 (While it is THE best wrestling game ever, it still has its shortcomings... hence all the mods that exist out there on the PC version) 2. Starcraft - 10 (Assuming I'm allowed to consider the Brood War expansion) 3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - 10 (Between the single play story mode and multiplayer, this one took everything the first Modern Warfare did and made it better without getting too carried away like they did by the third installment. Always preferred Infinity Ward's installments over Treyarch's.) 4. Mario Kart 64 - 9 (Good blend of my beloved Mario world, racing, and demolition derby-style vehicle battling) 5. X-Men - 7 (Boosted by nostalgia and a love of the X-Men brand... gotta pretty repetitive, but was also challenging enough that I could never afford to get totally board by the repetition) 6. Soulcalibur - 8 (Calibrating for a fighting game. Loved the characters as much as those from Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, or Tekken... maybe even more so? Moves seemed easier to master) 7. Angry Birds - 5 (First mobile game I ever downloaded, played the fuck out of it with Wife... but then dropped it out of the blue and never looked back.) 8. NFL Blitz - 8 (Addicting as fuck, but also had its flaws. Never played subsequent editions, so don't know if they addressed those flaws. Regardless, probably my favorite football game ever. Like 3D Tecmo Bowl) 9. Wii Sports Resort - 7 (Cool unique concept that works really well as a cross-generational party game.) 10. Mario Tennis - 10 (Perfection. Pong meets Mario.) 11. Mario Golf - 8 (Perhaps I'm being harder on it than it deserves because of how challenging it always was for me, and because how bad my buddy would always crush me when playing against each other) 12. Duck Hunt - 6 (A little more one-dimensional than Angry Birds, but still super addictive. Biggest drawback was an inability to shoot that goddamn laughing dog) 13. Contra - 7 (Easy side-scrolling action fun... that I admittedly might've confused in my mind for the better version -III?- or possibly even another similar game altogether... Metal Slug? Something like that?) 14. The Witness - 7 ( Wife loves it. I mostly drafted this for her. Puzzles aren't my thing, and this is all puzzles, lots of them super hard, on a creepy weird island setting. People who love Mist apparently hype this. I hated Mist too.) 15. Roller Coaster Tycoon - 10 (Caveat being using the cheats to unlock a blank map with infinite money to endlessly design/build dream parks) 16. Unravel 2 - 8 (Short, sweet, simple. Great gameplay mechanics, theme/aesthetic, soundtrack. Shorter than I thought, but also didn't fully explore the side missions. Awesome throwback to couch-based co-play that is severely lacking in the modern era video gaming experience).
