Uncharted is a great series but 2 is better than 3 to me.
I have played 8 of 16 from Lionheart's list: Final Fantasy 7, Diablo 2, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Metroid Prime, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, Halo 2, and Metal Gear Solid.
FF7 made me fall in love with the RPG genre. What I didn’t like is those huge power button on PS1 that my cat jumped on and made me lose 1-2 hours of progress. Diablo 2 is the base for a ton of dungeon crawlers that usually don’t do overly well but fun to play. PoP was a good game but nothing that made a lasting impression on me. Only played Prime for a night when a friend left his Gamecube in my apartment. I believe I clocked more than 100 hours on Oblivion. I wasn’t a fan of the original trilogy of Halo. It was ok but of the three I dislike 2 the most for how it ended the campaign. Metal Gear Solid had one of the most interesting boss mechanics ever.
I have played 5 of 16 from Sandylea's list: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Fallout 4, Jade Empire, The Walking Dead Season 1, and Detroit: Become Human.
Fallout 4 was a good game but not as good as the last two Fallouts. You lost a lot of freedom on how you dealt with situations. I normally like to play those games as male and female to see how they play out differently. Both characters felt exactly the same to play. And the Last Minute made the game a tad to easy and no putting it up was not an option. I mentioned wishing they continue the Jade Empire series. TWD and pretty much ever TellTale game is really great playing one time. But playing one the second time you realize no choice you make matters. If you can only save one person’s life doing something within a hour or two the other one will be dead. Detroit: Become Human and all David Cage games I do tend to enjoy playing multiple times because somethings can be very different My only complaint is a story twist just for the sake of having a twist. And the one in this game was really bad.

I voted for Lionheart. Definitely prefer his list. It's actually kind of close when the list starts, with sandylea's first 5 games all being games I love...but it starts to fall apart after that with the rest of that list having some fringe stuff I've not looked at much, whereas Lionheart’s whole list is almost totally comprised of personal favorites of mine.

11/11 split on games I'd care about, top 5:
1. Uncharted 2 2. God of War (PS4) 3. Metroid Prime 4. Jade Empire 5. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
Honestly, even without the 3/2 in the top 5, sandylea's is much more my style.

OK, I'm abandoning the cig SystemTM because... :ugh: (by the way, vBulletin code for this should be ":meh:") This showdown comes down to the following games for me: Lionheart:- Diablo 2 - Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (SUPER disappointed this wasn't the original. I was MISLED. Disqualification!)- Super Smash Bros Melee - Warcraft 3 - Halo 2 (First LAN party BABAY!!~) - Harvest Moon: Back to Nature (again... SUPER disappointed this WASN'T the original. Misled AGAIN! Disqualification!)sandylea:- Age of Empires 2: The Age of Kings - Mario Party 2 Strong 1-2 Blizzard combo from Lionheart with Diablo Dos & WC3. I never dabled with Diablo directly on my own PC, but playing it on occasion at friends' houses, and custom games built in WC3 based on the Diablo mechanics... I get the appeal. WC3 is more of a head-to-head match-up against Age of Empires for me. As much as I loved Age of Empires and Civilization and Command & Conquer (which seem similar-ish to Warcraft and Starcraft)... I'd take Warcraft and Starcraft 10 times out of 10. So WC3 with the D2 kicker eliminates sandylea's AoE2:tAoK... leaving her with just MP2. So now it becomes a couch coplay multiplayer mayhem showdown. To me, Mario Party games only have value if you can get at least three other friends over to the house. That's a pretty difficult barrier to entry. Also, as much as I dug Mario Parties... I fucking HATED how they'd lead directly to the destruction of controller joysticks. While I prefer original Smash over the GameCube follow-up, it still resembled the original enough to be fun. While way more one dimensional that Mario Party, I'd like be picking Smash over Party if given the choice and three friends on a couch. If I was on the fence though, Lionheart topples me to his side though with Halo 2. While I wasn't an Xbox owner for long, and while I never owned Halo myself... my closest video gaming buddy growing up DID own both Xbox and the first Halo. I remember my first exposure to Halo being an interesting experience. I remember thinking it was a visually stunning update on GoldenEye/Perfect Dark, with a hybrid Starship Troopers/Starcraft aesthetic... with maybe a splash of anime cutesiness? Anyway, I don't recall the first Halo having a multiplayer? Or if it did, maybe we just never played it. But, I feel like Halo 2 upped the ante by introducing vehicles and multiplayer or at least the capability for LAN parties. Essentially, here's the lasting memory I have that will forever give Halo 2 mega bonus points for me: My freshman year of high shool, at the end of the wrestling season, our graduating senior captain had the team over to his house for a cookout sleepover party. The direction was for anyone who had an Xbox, Halo 2, controllers, and a TV... BRING IT. I think we perfectly ended up with four consoles, four TVs, allowing the sixteen of us (we were a small wrestling team... couldn't fill all weight classes, pretty sure some of our captain's older brothers joined the LAN party) to all connect and wage mindblowingly large scale FPS war for like 8 hours straight through the night. It was so fucking awesome. Something that kids born in the 2000s will NEVER appreciate.

sandylea and I have such differing tastes in video games, that I can comfortably say that I'd vote for Final Fantasy 7 alone over her entire list. Sounds harsh, but I have literally put more hours into that game than her whole list, although that's because I've only played two of her games. God Of War is fantastic, an epic series put on the map. Lionheart's roster is not so strong either, but he does have FF7, Metal Gear Solid and Oblivion. These three big hitters are enough to get my vote here, but would probably struggle against most other lineups. Sands of Time is certainly a solid PS2 game but highly questionable as a #3 pick. I may have picked it if we were going to a list of 20, but even then, it's doubtful. Lionheart loses points for choosing to post a shit cover of a classic heavy metal track by a shit band, instead of the original. Very nearly lost my vote beacuse of that.

But man, The Movies is such a cool pick. I never really played much of it, but I remember reading about it when it was coming out when I was about 13 or so and thought the concept was so cool. I miss Lionhead.

I actually like a lot of the casual titles on sandylea's lists. Games like Singstar, Mario Party 2, The Sims 2, Crazy Taxi etc. are the type of games anyone can enjoy, Singstar in particular was one of those games I like to have on hand because you could bust it out at parties when everyone has loosened up just for something different.
I had heard of This War Of Mine but had never seen it before. That game looks amazing, I'll have to give it a shot someday and Jade Empire is one of those X Box games I've always wanted to get around to.
I haven't thought about some of these games in years, and I don't think anyone else would have picked them either. Some very interesting food for thought.
Lionheart's list is going to go very far with me this tournament.

Oh no the original Halo had vehicles and the capacity to have up to 16 players at a local lan. What Halo 2 had was ONLINE multiplayer so now you could get on the microphone and talk mad trash with your pre-peubescent voice.
The solo campaign was tighter, but it didn't feel as distinct as the original which was a lot more open than a lot of FPS games back then.
2004, can we go back? Pump up some Linkin Park 'Numb' Maroon 5 'This Love' The Killers 'Somebody Told Me' and let's go back.

7 for Lionheart's list vs 10 from sandylea's list. Lionheart does have the mighty Final Fantasy 7 which is worth about 2-3 games, depending on the games though. But sandy also has some corkers there, Uncharted 2, God of War, The Sims 2, Detroit, AC Odyssey. As well as some underrated gems like This War of Mine and Theme Hospital. So although Lionheart has FF7, on balance I like more of sandy's games so that's where I'm voting.

I was MISLED. Disqualification!)- Harvest Moon: Back to Nature (again... SUPER disappointed this WASN'T the original. Misled AGAIN! Disqualification!)I am officially soliciting for you to pick up the Lionheart elimination System TM. Despite the proximity of the words Lionheart and elimination, this method has nothing to do with Lionheart being eliminated from the tournament because that will never happen. Feel free to eliminate System though. The reason for this solicitation is that cig 's posts are too numbery but your own System lacks structure. Narrowing down games of similar quality and eliminating them, as I have shown in other threads, proves for a much more clean and simplistic, yet concise, middle ground.
On to the meaty business here though. The original Prince of Persia, while an amazing game, has absolutely fucking nothing on Sands of Time. Have you not played it? I highly recommend it as my top recommendation if so. It and Two Thrones are some of the most solid gaming experiences I have ever had. Badass in every way and crazy fun. The Apple II version I assume you are comparing it to is a classic, a revolutionary title, and an inspirational one...but it just doesn't have all the pieces for a truly masterful experience.
=====>
It's like it took a Supper Mario Mushroom and upgraded.
Similarly with Harvest Moon, the games are very similar but Back to Nature simply improved on everything that the original had. There's a reason it's widely considered the best Harvest Moon game.
=====>
Even if they don't match the exact original games you remember perfectly, they should absolutely score almost the same amount of points with you. Especially Harvest Moon, which is just a graphical switch to 3D. Prince of Persia gameplay changed a lot with the switch to 3D, for the better certainly, but farming is pretty much the same. The quaint experience, the mellow relaxation, the incredibly rewarding and slow, yet steady, cleanup of the farm, the interactions with the villagers as you make progress into their hearts. Absolutely wonderful and all still there. This game makes you feel important, like there's a job that needs doing and it's not going to get done unless you muster up the gumption. It is very rare for a non-exciting topic of a game like this with something seemingly boring like FARMING to take me in, and in fact this may be the only game to ever do it because it's just that damn good.

My username started from a conversation with a friend in high school that “system” was the most common noun we encountered across all our classes. That’s probably inaccurate but maybe not judging by the tags In this thread 😂
Smart move dropping Jet Set for GOW.
