So cancel culture has seemingly hit its peak with 3 celebrities have been cancelled last week via Twitter Jury. 1. Lana Del Rey for this post: 2. Doja Cat for joining tinychats with white supremacists 3. Hilary Duff for going through her physical photo collection which includes a picture of her 8 year old son lying on a bed naked with lotion on. (This one is admittedly pretty fucking weird) And also some shit about symbols and people claiming she’s involved in sex trafficking and other theories. and yet there is seemingly very less repercussions for them being “cancelled” (don’t argue their innocence that’s not how it works) as opposed to other people in the past that have lost touring gigs, endorsement deals and have been their careers completely ruined. Is this because there is bigger concerns in 2020 as well as less punishment for your actions (EG a stand-up comedian getting cancelled isn’t going to matter as much....as they can’t perform anyway) or was it something that was inevitable?

There’s bigger things in the world to be concerned with. Especially right now.
Maybe an unpopular opinion, cancel culture is a product of a certain type of western privilege.
We’re not getting shot at, nor starving. There isn’t a war to destroy us, or civil unrest. And compared to many parts of the world, a degree of wealth and luxury.
We are as a society, the middle-aged trophy wife. Most of the hard work is behind us, and we really don’t intend to do much more. We sit in our big houses, bored with all our toys and get offended when we don’t get what we want.
We’ve become the Karen wanting to see the manger. But we’ve been a little preoccupied of late.

I think it would be hard to tell right now as everything has been cancelled until 2021. That’s pretty much what I’m saying. Hard for a live entertainer to get cancelled When a)live events aren’t a thing so no chance of venues/sponsors pulling out. b) as NATH45 pointed out there’s much more serious concern in the world.

Or in the case of R Kelly, no one wants to believe the allegations or seemed to care. It took YEARS (decades) until it negatively affected his career and the damage inflicted in the meantime was horrendous.

One major thing being overlooked is cancel culture was one of the things amplified by the Russian bot network to divide America. The bots loved that shit and millions of them would retweet anything they could that encourage fights.

I’ve seen people claim the same for Bill Cosby and it’s a conspiracy by “the man” (not Becky) to hurt their communities by vilifying their heroes. ====== Also recently Tekashi69 who had multiple charges against him, including child sex offences. Then he snitched on everyone in the planet (which is highly frowned upon in hip-hop) to get a better deal and everyone made fun of him relentlessly for it. Got to love his 3 month sentence with confessions to armed robbery, drug charges, racketeering, firearm charges, conspiracy to commit murder domestic violence charges. This is far far less than Joey Exotic did to get sentenced basically to life in prison. He walked away from a distribution of child pornography charge too with no time. Then again the rich and famous never get the same sentences as the rest of us.

The problem seems to be that no matter the issue, people have already made their mind up. If there is a lynch mob mentality then everyone is guilty at the slightest accusation.
On the flip side, I'm still regularly shocked at how many people give Michael Jackson a free pass,

Jackson I think was innocent. A lot of child actors spoke out about his sleep overs and had nothing bad to say. He obviously had some serious mental illness stuff, but I seriously think nothing sexual happened. Look at the meds he was on. His dick would not work and he would have no libido simply from the side effects. Fuck blanket was not even conceived through innercourse, they had to use artificial insemination.
He was an easy target though as he worked with kids so much and was so damn secretive people likely just assumed accuse him and he will pay under the table with a NDA and you get a few million to set you up for life. In neither case was one ounce of strong physical evidence found. Fuck many of the kids that slept in his bed like Macaulay Culkin say the molestation charges are completely absurd. Everyone looked for a criminal act and found nothing. Dozens of films have been and no evidence was found. Since he died his kids have talked a lot about the things he did that people did not understand, like covering their faces so the media did not know what they looked like and thus would not bother them. All the kids say much of what was reported about them was never true as their lives were not as interested as people needed them to be to sell stories.
My honest take is Jackson was a functional paranoid schizophrenic. He was deeply paranoid that people were out to get him, that they were following him, that they were judging him and when they actually were he started to get medicated heavily for it. Then he needed that medication to function. But you can only do that for a few years before you become dependant. Mixed in with that was the painful injury, the constant tabloid shit, the constant sexual abuse charges, ect. He hated all of that so started to split with the child side as his escape from the BS of the adult world. Given the meds he was on all also treat schizophrenia it would have masked the symptoms and the paranoia could be masked simply as dealing with being a legendary musician.

Hasn’t it always been the case? We’ve simply gone from lynching people in the streets based purely on colour or creed to lynching each other politically on social media... based on little more than an idea. Good, bad, or the otherwise, because we don’t agree with them.

If they found evidence, being crazy would not have gotten him off the hook. The judge in that trial wanted a conviction and to lock up Jackson. He reopened the 1994 case that two grand juries failed to press charges in and but that case on trial too. But seriously, the child protective services did two major investigations, the police did several major investigations and searched the ranch repeated while he was not there and found no evidence, the video teams that were embedded in the ranch had no evidence, the staff that turned on Jackson could find no evidence and the FBI itself got involved and found no evidence. It was literally Martin Bashir that felt it was wrong that a grown man sleeps next to children he is not related to that found a problem with this and started the crusade because he found it went against his beliefs as a Christian. The kid who accused him own family spoke out against him and the family sued many other people for cash in shakedowns. Then you got Wade who testified against Gavin but then claimed he was molested with the that sweet netflix documentary money came so he could try to shakedown Jackson's children for money. The Leaving Neverland lawsuit unlike the numerous charges against Jackson however was not dismissed and it is likely it will cost HBO hundreds of millions of dollars. Very likely the case will be appealed to the Supreme Court who will essentially be forced to make the final ruling on Jackson.

See, I have no idea how you can think Jackson was innocent. Maybe he was, but we have convicted people on far less. Scout Leaders, teachers, priests, they don't abuse every child that crosses their path, predators always prey on the weak. There is enough smoke in the MJ stories to think the world is better off without him. The things we do know as facts are troubling, such as the alarm that let him know if people were entering his room. The fact he traded the boys in when they got too old... Escaping Neverland could have been 95% exaggeration, but that would still leave 5% horrific.

Well it comes down to whether or not believe that film. Personally I do not. Both people testified in court in support of Jackson in the past. So they either lied during the film or they lied in court. Regardless of whether the story is true or not, the only proof here is the word of liars. Furthermore, the film conveniently ignored the fact that both men has billion dollar lawsuits against the Jackson estate. When you look at the depositions from these suits the stories do not match to what they said in the movie, meaning they could not keep the story straight even over a five year period.
In the other abuse cases, there is physical proof. Jackson has been investigated for 20 years and the FBI compiling everything reported after his death there was no evidence or leads.
Many of the kids who were "traded in" came out to support him at the trial and supported him during the film backlash. They remained friends with Jackson as they got older. Macaulay Culkin, Brett Barnes, Corey Feldman, Aaron Carter and many others said the movie was misleading and stated their support for Jackson. Many of these people are still in contact with his kids.
But we will see. A US judge greenlighted their lawsuit against the Jackson estate. Be curious what they claim in court and if it matches the story of the film. But it is very likely once again the case will be dismissed for the lack of evidence.

Weird but not illegal.
The most damning piece of evidence is despite molesting these kids supposedly hundreds of times not a single time or date for an act could ever be established. And there is a reason for it. Jackson's life was documented in minute detail by his staff. He never really drove himself anywhere so he always had a driver around. Being as rich as he was and how much he hated people being involved in his kids lives, he also needed bodyguards to control the media. Then assistants for both himself and his children. Plus the ranch itself employed 160 people to keep it functioning. His life at the Ranch was detailed in the records so giving even a single time or date would be solid proof of lying so no one ever put one forth. Also this is why the accusers all argue with other as well. Bashir would have had to have been involved in the coverup if Leaving Neverland was truthful.
It would be a different story if it was a one time molestation being accused but all the people who did accuse him say it happened dozens of times if not hundreds over periods of several years and simply put, he was not actually at the Ranch enough for the story to be logistically possible.
So yeah, he was weird, no one is disputing that. But being weird and letting children sleep on your bed with the expressed consent of the parents is not the same as molesting them. And Jackson's insurance's policy of paying off any accusations with a million dollars in exchange for an NDA encouraged more people to accuse him or the estate to get paid.
The HBO contract lawsuit will likely make it to the supreme court and the post mortuum trial of Jackson is moving forward and absorbed into the contract lawsuit, so in a few years we should have a ruling from some of the highest courts as to whether or not Jackson committed any wrongdoing (the sole way HBO can get away with violating the contract at this point).

But we will see. A US judge greenlighted their lawsuit against the Jackson estate. Be curious what they claim in court and if it matches the story of the film. But it is very likely once again the case will be dismissed for the lack of evidence. It's not really my point, I don't get how people are ready to "see the bastard hang" at the first accusation of child abuse, but for some people who are cherished, people's words are not enough. This is something I saw today on Vanity Fair's list of "Proven" evidence 1. There is no dispute that, at age 34, Michael Jackson slept more than 30 nights in a row in the same bed with 13-year-old Jordie Chandler at the boy’s house with Chandler’s mother present. He also slept in the same bed with Jordie Chandler at Chandler’s father’s house. The parents were divorced. 2. So far, five boys Michael Jackson shared beds with have accused him of abuse: Jordie Chandler, Jason Francia, Gavin Arvizo, Wade Robson, and Jimmy Safechuck. Jackson had the same nickname for Chandler and Arvizo: “Rubba.” He called Robson “Little One” and Safechuck “Applehead.” 3. Jackson paid $25 million to settle the Chandlers’ lawsuit, with $18 million going to Jordie, $2.5 million to each of the parents, and the rest to lawyers. Jackson said he paid that sum to avoid something “long and drawn out.” Francia also received $2.4 million from Jackson. 4. Michael Jackson suffered from the skin discoloration disease vitiligo. Jordie Chandler drew a picture of the markings on the underside of Jackson’s penis. His drawings were sealed in an envelope. A few months later, investigators photographed Jackson’s genitalia. The photographs matched Chandler’s drawings. 5. The hallway leading to Jackson’s bedroom was a serious security zone covered by video and wired for sound so that the steps of anyone approaching would make ding-dong sounds. 6. Jackson had an extensive collection of adult erotic material he kept in a suitcase next to his bed, including S&M bondage photos and a study of naked boys. Forensic experts with experience in the Secret Service found the fingerprints of boys alongside Jackson’s on the same pages. Jackson also had bondage sculptures of women with ball gags in their mouths on his desk, in full view of the boys who slept there. 7. According to the Neverland staff interviewed by the Santa Barbara authorities, no one ever saw or knew of a woman spending the night with Michael Jackson, including his two spouses, Debbie Rowe or Lisa Marie Presley. Rowe, the mother of two of Jackson’s children, made it clear to the Santa Barbara authorities that she never had sex with Jackson. 8. The parents of boys Jackson shared beds with were courted assiduously and given myriad expensive gifts. Wade Robson’s mother testified in the 2005 trial that she funneled wages through Jackson’s company and was given a permanent resident visa. Jimmy Safechuck’s parents got a house. Jordie Chandler’s mother got a diamond bracelet. 9. Two of the fathers of those who have accused Jackson, Jordie Chandler and Wade Robson, committed suicide. Both were estranged from their sons at the time. 10. In a 2002 documentary, Living with Michael Jackson, Jackson told Martin Bashir there was nothing wrong with sharing his bed with boys. TGO?

Most of those claim have been discredited Incy. Lisa Marie Presley has been asked numerous times about her sex life with Jackson and she always maintained it was normal. The DA's confirmed there never a suitcase full of child porn or S&M porn and in the grand jury investigation told the jury to disregard information they may have heard about that. There was a lot of porn, but no gay porn, only hetero porn. Only one item had a single child finger print on it and it was the item a child touched during deposition to identify it. This was considered inadmissible in the trial. FBI reviewed all of the drives of any computer at the Ranch and found no illegal material. Santa Barbara Sheriff Office said a lot of the information was not real and it never found any child pornography. Jackson himself was not involved in the Chandler payments, the insurance company was. Bashir allowed his own two boys to sleep in the bedroom with Jackson. And I think the most interesting of all, Chandler, and those that followed, reported that Jackson that was circumcised when they described his penis. Jackson's penis during the autopsy was noted to be uncut.
Almost none of the claims made hold up when examined which is why juries always acquitted him. The only claim that holds up is he allowed kids to sleep in his bed with their parent's permission. Which as I said, was weird, but not illegal.

Maybe he never penetrated the kids even, but I am sure he messed them up plenty, alcohol, porn and jerking off would be enough to scare a kid more than enough... It is just so weird because so many people have been convicted of much less.
