WOW as someone who enjoyed the original one back on the N64, this is great news! Looks fantastic, I know @nighty was a big fan of this game. Something a lot of fans asked for.

There's a paper version of Pokémon!? It was more of a camera/picture taking game where you take pictures of wild Pokemon interacting with other ones or with the environment and you got style points based on how good of a picture you took. Had it's own character(Todd) and everything.

There's a paper version of Pokémon!? You didn't rent out Snap on the N64, take nudes of Jynx and print them up at the Blockbuster Kiosk?
Seriously though, Snap was a fun little game. It was an on-rails shooter, except instead of shooting Pikachu's head off, you just took photos of them and Professor Oak would grade you. Each level had alternative routes you had to unlock and as you got deeper you could start pegging apples at Pokemon or knock them out with smoke bombs.
We've waited 20+ years for a sequel. So far, we've had a Pokemon TV simulator, a Simon Says Pokemon game, a Samurai Pokemon game and literally a game about Boxes.

Whaaa? Go on. I'm more interested in this than getting my Twitch figured out. Also, did Pokemon start as a card game or video game before becoming the other format? Feel like an idiot if Pokemon was always/originally technically a paper version. :$

Yeah, you take photos of Pokemon and you could take your cart into blockbuster where they had kiosks that would print out little stickers like a photo booth.
 didn't think of that. It was definitely a video game first, it existed some eight months before the card game was introduced.
Did you ever play the Pokemon TCG GameBoy game? Did you even Pokemon?

Such a wild old school concept! And no... I didn't even Pokemon. Well, I guess that's not true. Kids seemed so into it, I felt left out. So I eventually got a Gameboy to giver 'er a go. Red or blue. I don't remember which one I had. Played maybe 75% of it or so? It was... OK. Not great. Not the worst. Definitely could see how it could be addictive. Then watched some of the cartoon show. And then a million years later... Detective Pikachu. And that about sums up my Pokemon experience.

I'm surprised you didn't stick to crackin' packs and trying to hustle kids out of their Charizard.
75%? So you never became the Pokemon Champion? We need to remedy this ASAP - Rocky Balboa style. I can show you how to beat the game in two hours.
We can do this.

OMG. I may need a switch now. If it helps there is an exclusive Shin Megami Tensei non-persona game coming out sometime soon on the system!

This is all ever wanted! The original was one of my favourite games everrrrr, so I’m excited for a sequel!
I hope they include the original on the game card - or at least make it available to download. I can’t be bothered plugging my Wii U back in to play the Virtual Console version.

I never owned the original game, but I spent so much time at Blockbuster playing the demo cabinet they had. Having said that, I definitely wasn't expecting a new Pokemon Snap announcement, but I'll pick it up once it's released.

I've never played Pokemon Snap, but I used to read video game magazines as a youngster. One of them had a very detailed guide to Pokemon Snap, highlighting all the secrets. It fascinated me. I never really thought about it mcuh after that, but it's a nice memory.
Maybe I'll emulate it one day.

You should, I'm not sure if there's any emulation bugs or not, but you can beat the game in one sitting and it's a fun ride while it lasts. There's no other game quite like it and it's pretty jolly.
It's the chicken noodle soup of the N64.

Ya know, you could be more concise by just calling it N64's Forrest Gump.

What is the Zoolander of the N64?

No, I'm not one of them. Forrest Gump is alright. Just not the masterpiece some make it out to be.
