I did the wiki route for the decade list.
Exhausting doing that at the last minute.
Might just look at all the old countdowns and do it that way.

I will definitely try to at least get fifty of my favorite movies on a list, but that’s probably gonna be the max number for me. Luckily my top ten is pretty set, just thinking off the top of my head.

I was worried about leaving no stone unturned. Wife had a good idea: just work through the alphabet, stepping through the pages on Wikipedia that list "A" movies, "B" movies, etc. Finished that last night as a first pass. Have 475 to whittle down now. Earmarked some surefire locks as I went. Am interested to go back through the 475 and see how many I earmarked on this second pass now... As I practice being unable to go back to sleep before 5am. Would have taken the same amount of time to do that on a movie checklist website and favorite/dislike them as you went and then forever have a sortable / filterable list of all your favorite movies that you could use to easily make any list from then on.
Just saying.

I can't do anything about the mobile skin unfortunately.
Since I got tagged in here though I'll reveal that despite never entering a list for the PC Countdowns I am currently compiling a top 100 for this one. 🤙

Alright, my list ended up going into the mid 100s as I just kept listing a bunch of movies I like.
So, you’re getting a list of exactly 100. Now I just have to sort it out.

Ok, so the only part of my list that was set was my top 5.
I’m finding out that everything from my #6 to somewhere in the fourties/fifties could easily switch around with another.

So I’ve been binge watching a bunch of movies lately in anticipation of this countdown. Usually, my preference is series but I’ve been in a big cinema mood lately. Over the past two weeks, I’ve watched the following:
The Shawshank Redemption The Green Mile Good Will Hunting The Prestige The Departed Magnolia Groundhog Day Punch Drunk Love Parasite Uncut Gems Pans Labyrinth There Will Be Blood
Some are rewatches and others I watched for the first time (The Departed!). A majority of these movies will place on my overall list with a few being very high contenders.
Also, on my upcoming to watch list: -Interstellar (first time) -Arrival (first time) -Knives Out (first time) -As Good As it Gets (first time) -Se7en (rewatch) -Prisoners (rewatch) -Fight Club (rewatch) -Midsommar (rewatch)
If anyone has any suggestions, I’ll gladly add them to the list.

My plan is to make my (sort of) official top 100 and then re-watch some movies and watch movies I haven’t seen before and see if they make any changes to my top 100 before it’s time to send the lists in. What I don’t want is any regency bias as my top 100 are movies I’ve seen many times and/or haven’t seen in years (but loved).
I made a rough draft of top 155 (though about 30 or so ended being easy cuts), and 80 of my top 100 is listed. But this is pretty hard because my top five is absolutely set and I’d say my #6 to #30 is pretty set (though I could make arguments in my head why I’d rearrange things), but everything after that could be number 31 or it could be number 100.

WARRIOR!! One of my favorites! It will place well on my list but it’s due for a rewatch since it’s been a few years since I’ve last seen it. Tom is one of my favorites and Joel Edgerton always steals the show for me no matter what movie he’s in. He really won me over in The Gift.

I sat down and just started writing movies off the top of my head and I have around 125 written down.
Then I read through lists and whatnot and realized I’m missing at least 50 movies I would include.
Fuck me.

About a year ago, I created an IMDB account and started keeping track of all the movies I’ve seen. Now every time I watch a film, I’ll rate it and IMDB will keep a list based on my ratings. It’s helped me both track the films I’ve watch and put them in order on how I rate them. Helps a little with making a overall top 100 list like this.

I second the bolded recommendation. Hell or High Water is my latest Matchstick Men-level obsession, a movie I intend to pimp until the end of time... even over Table 19 and Destination Weddding. Haven't seen or heard of Bone Tomahawk. What's it like/about? If it's anything like Wind River, I'll all aboard! I can also vouch for 12 Angry Men (brought to me by way of a Dr. Emperor recommendation... perhaps as an exchange for Matchstick Men?), and Wind River and In the Heat of the Night --as well as Warrior, and Snowpierce-- (all by way of excellent UT recommendations) are well worth watches too even if they might not all make my personal 100 cut.

I’ve seen Hell or High Water. Great film and is a lock for my top 100 and maybe even top 50. Depends on how things fall once I work on my final rankings. I haven’t watched the other films UT listed. Admittedly, WOWS is a major absence on my watch list. I remember watching the first 20 minutes or so a few years back with friends and fell asleep on it on account of being too drunk. I never revisited it which is my fault. I plan on correcting that before making my final list.

If anyone has any suggestions, I’ll gladly add them to the list. One from each decade, 20s onwards, with all of these top 50 contenders for me, some top 10 contenders, and one of them might even top my list after some thought. The Passion of Joan of Arc (Carl Th. Dreyer, 1928)M (Fritz Lang, 1931)Out of the Past (Jacques Tourneur, 1947)The Night of the Hunter (Charles Laughton, 1955)Woman of the Dunes/Woman in the Dunes (Hiroshi Teshigara, 1964)Stalker (Andrei Tarkovsky, 1979)Come and See (Elem Klimov, 1985)Three Colours: Blue (Krzysztof Kieślowski, 1993)The Fall (Tarsem Singh, 2006)The Tree of Life (Terrence Malick, 2011)

If anyone has any suggestions, I’ll gladly add them to the list. Let me copy Strobe, with a recommendation from each decade. Sunrise (F.W. Murnau, 1927)
It Happened One Night (Frank Capra, 1934)
Kind Hearts and Coronets (Robert Hamer, 1949)
Sunset Boulevard (Billy Wilder, 1950) (Although it would have been Night of the Hunter here if I weren't doing different films from Strobe) Breathless (Jean-Luc Goddard, 1960)
Chinatown (Roman Polanski, 1974)
Brazil (Terry Gilliam, 1985)
La Haine (Matthieu Kassovitz, 1995) Three Colours Blue would be my first choice for 90s, but I actually think people of PW would find La Haine a lot more accessible. The Lives of Others (Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, 2006)
Boyhood( Richard Linklater, 2014) Again, Tree of Life would be my first recommendation but this is a very close second.
