According to TMZ, David Otunga and Jennifer Hudson have called it quits after more than nine years of being engaged. What’s more, it looks like the Grammy award-winning artist has been granted a restraining order.

Otunga’s attorney Tracy Rizzo made it very clear in a statement to TMZ that the WWE Superstar “has never abused or harassed Ms. Hudson or their son.” There has been no claim to the contrary by Hudson or anyone from her legal team at this time.

“David Otunga has been trying to negotiate the terms of an amicable parenting agreement with Ms. Hudson for several weeks now. However, when it became apparent to Ms. Hudson that Mr. Otunga would be the parent granted residential care of the child, as a result of Mr. Otunga being the child’s primary caregiver while Ms. Hudson pursues her career all over the world, Ms. Hudson decided to file a meritless Petition for Order of Protection in an effort to gain an unfair advantage in the custody dispute.”

Otunga is a two-time WWE Tag Team Champion on top of being a lawyer with a degree from Harvard Law School. As far as being their child’s “primary caregiver”, he has largely been off television since retiring from in-ring competition in 2015, now only making rare appearances as a pre-show analysts before WWE pay-per-views.

As we reported earlier this morning, Grammy award-winner artist Jennifer Hudson was granted an order of protection against WWE star David Otunga when the couple split after more than nine years of being engaged.



When TMZ broke the news late Thursday night, the story was that Hudson’s restraining order was merely a ploy to gain the upper hand in a custody battle, according to a statement made by Otunga’s lawyer. TMZ has updated the situation after gaining access to the court documents, and it appears that things are a whole lot worse than originally anticipated.



Hudson claimed that ex-fiance David Otunga displayed “aggressive, threatening and harassing behavior” towards her, citing multiple incidents of questionable behavior.



The recording artist and actress claims he made numerous attempts to contact her during a record session on Wednesday, and when she didn’t answer he allegedly tried to get their son David Jr. to record what was going on in an attempt to prove infidelity with one of her producers. According to her, Otunga then arrived home later in the evening very upset, “grabbed David Jr. by the hand and physically pushed” her out of their suite.



Hudson claims the WWE wrestler-turned-announcer has displayed “a pattern of escalating and threatening behavior”, describing scenes where he would leave a gun on their kitchen counter, which she believes was an admittedly success attempt at intimidation. Hudson’s mother and brother were murdered on the west side of Chicago in 2008 after suffering multiple gun shot wounds.



Otunga has maintained that Hudson’s claims are false, and that the restraining order was an attempt to gain full custody of their child.

As noted, WWE announcer David Otunga and Jennifer Hudson have split up, ending their nine-year engagement, and Hudson has since alleged “abusive and harassing” behavior from Otunga during their relationship.

TMZ.com is now reporting that David Otunga will not be at WWE Survivor Series this weekend, as a result of the situation between him and Hudson. Otunga was scheduled to co-host the Survivor Series Kickoff show, however, he will not be present in Houston Sunday night.

As we noted moments ago, Otunga has issued a statement denying Jennifer Hudson’s allegations.

In related news, TMZ is also reporting that David Otunga confronted Jennifer Hudson and accused her of cheating on him with producer Mali Music. Hudson is denying the allegations made by Otunga

I'm not convinced he is getting fired just yet. From what I can tell, they are just throwing baseless accusations against each other. Probably had a nasty falling out and they (or at least Hudson) is taking it to the public.

Well, Otunga loses Hudson, that means he's losing his job as well.

WWE was just using Otunga because he was engaged to an OSCAR winning actress.

This means Booker T will be a permanent fixture on commentary. UGH!

As we noted a couple weeks ago, WWE announcer David Otunga and his former fiancee Jennifer Hudson have been embroiled in what appeared to be a bitter custody battle in the wake of the couple splitting up.

Otunga had been fighting for primary custody of the couple’s son, and Hudson had fired back claiming Otunga had displayed abusive behavior towards her and threatened her with a firearm. Hudson also had a protection order granted against Otunga in the midst of the dispute. Otunga later issued a statement denying the allegations made by Hudson, and below is an excerpt of Otunga’s statement:

“Mr. Otunga has never abused or harassed Ms. Hudson or their son, and it is unfortunate, especially in today’s climate, that she would feel the need to make these false allegations against him.

“Mr. Otunga looks forward to his day in court and in being awarded the residential care of the parties’ only child.”

According to TMZ.com, Otunga and Hudson have come to an agreement regarding the custody of their son, and Otunga will have primary custody going forward.

Additionally, the order of protection Hudson filed against Otunga was dropped voluntarily.

Lost a lot of respect for Hudson. He left her for cheating on him, she weaponized their child, and attempted to destroy his reputation. She had the cops show up and remove him just to get him to make a scene and prove her "right", which he didn't do. That's really low. She deserves to lose everything.

What a bitch. I hope David can recover from this and have the life he wants to have.

I have to agree. For a woman that has been through so much she lost my sympathy here. If anyone should understand how something like this and media and tragedy can ruin someone's life, it should be her. It's a damn shame that she decided to go this route. Disgusting.

I didn't know who Hudson was in the first place and was never an Otunga fan or hater. But now I am rooting for David. The system is so anti-male, it's disgusting!

Well he can be his own lawyer. He graduated from Harvard in law and passed the bar exam. Hopefully he can pull it off
