PW NEWS EPISODE 57 (15:21) - !!!
WCW THUNDER NEWZ: How is it possible we're learning new things about WCW (sometimes stylized as wCw) like a random interviewer making "headlines" from Thunder? We have a thread in HOW talking about someone named Lenita Ericsson and someone signed up just to call her out for being the Madam in their apparent sexual assault/rape. Not to make light of these allegations, but I was kinda hoping SpeakingOut (at least on pee dub) was dying a slow and painful death, like any lingering Chikara fans.
FUCKING OFF TO WALES HAD A PURPOSE?: All this time when WP disappeared to Wales had a purpose it seems. In Off Topic there's a thread about some hard-R crossing an entire country in a straight line. Guess we know why these feds are never getting updated. Once again proving that pduh is WRONG. Remember when Forrest was running across the country? Same thing. Such an inspiration. I mean, that's the update you guys want? Not PW Wrestling, right?
PACMAN (NOT THE IMPACT WRESTLING ALUMNI): So we got another update in the VG Countdown, though sadly you're barking up the wrong tree if you want a TABLE to be up to date. Lotta talk about imitation games and how almost no one seems to be playing the original. Should we find a way to import an imposter Baker in his absence? I mean, I'm already planning on signing up under a fake 🤯 character to distribute likes and what not. How hard can it be? Scrolling dicks, gummy talk, dad jokes and random Brock appearances. Could probably do that with a bunch of other posters too.
"Short" episode, but ya know how it goes. Have I peaked or was the Favorite Wrestler Countdown carrying me?

Listened to the first two-thirds while taking a walk so no play by play commentary this time around. @ness with some subtle savagery in this installment. I laughed multiple times. YOU create the 'closing walls' in Lock 'N Chase! It's a strategic move. The beautiful Intellivision controller looked like this... You created the closing walls by pressing any one of the four side buttons. Tempted to create an in depth Intellivision thread. Maybe when I return from hiatus, which looks to be rapidly approaching given that I am losing to rad. I fully support walking across countries in a straight line becoming the new trend. Wales is a particularly good country to walk across. The SMALL state of Maryland is bigger than Wales! Hmm....I am so keen on this idea that I will walk across the state of Maryland if I ever become unemployed again. I also feel like this idea has great grift potential. Drum up some publicity. Land a few sponsors. Walk. Profit.

Jungle Boy vs MJF is a shocker given my tastes, but I did really enjoy the match and thought it was excellent. Posted a review in the Match Review thread at the time and encouraged people to watch it.
Yes, the video game countdown is in release year order, with a couple of small exceptions. We're going to be in the 80s for a good while.

L&Ping! ===== Barely over 15 minutes!? WHOA!!! ===== Real quick, before this episode gets too far underway, an observation: Is it just me, or does this week's gif kinda look like Fergus Ferguson auditioning for an open spot in DX? Right!?!? ===== The C stands for CUT! I'm still bummed though that I couldn't figure out how to get the scrolling dick to disappear into a unicode butthole or vadge. ===== Dr. Emperor, is a free version of Jungle Boy/MJF in existence anywhere? This is the one you recommended to me a few weeks back, right? I am interested in watching it if it is (assuming it's free). But then again, if it's on DailyMotion... those terrible commercial breaks drove me to the brink with those Dean matches. ===== Still can't believe we're a front page search result for Lenita Ericsson. That thread needs more tit pics. Wait, what, huh? We're an underground wrestling forum? UNDERGROUND. Makes us sound so cool and bad ass. ===== First round of Fan Fiction Draft is DONE. RT is just lazy and trying to buy as much time as possible before he has to do something again. Here's hoping everyone started on Second Round cards as soon as the first batch of matches went up just to be prepared. No bullshit excuses about needing more time from this point forward! Chyna vs. Nicole Bass sooo should've happened at WrestleMania XV. Pictures and gifs are for insecure pussies in the fan fiction draft... *ahem* KING KID *ahem* (-_-) @ness, if it isn't a Wild Card vs. Wild Card final, I need you and System to go... ALL... THE... WAY! ===== WP is gone again already? Clearly an indication that PB took too long to jump in and save his ass on his latest fan fiction project. ===== My theory is that c is color blind and refers to Trump as "Papa" as a reference to Papa Smurf because he thinks Trump is blue not orange based on his bass-ackwards color vision. ===== Yaaayyy... sports! Soccer is the most boring "sport" ever. Fuck me is it dull. No idea why it's so popular. Sure, it's cheap to play. So is basketball, which I also hate... but at least there's no shortage of action in basketball. Still stand by hockey being the best team sport. Wrestling is the best individual sport. Eat my ass if you disagree! ===== Training Day is totally the Die Hard is a Christmas Movie to the buddy cop movie countdown. Excellent analogy, Nessticle. THANK YOU for the UT call-out. He is def changing his avatar far too often for my liking, but there is no denying that UT's gif game is STRONG. ===== You touched on something I was wondering too... and I'm not sure how I feel about it. Reveals in chronological order instead of order of significance. Although, I suppose the earlier games had way more influence relatively speaking than later games considering they not only blazed the trails but essentially created the whole video game industry. No matter how the rest of these reveals go though, there's no convincing me that there's any game MORE SIGNIFICANT than No Mercy 64. ===== This episode was short and sweet. Just like Silicone Sally's clit. SUCK IT, PW!!!

I just like to coincide it with movies/quotes from said movies that come up. Only movies I feel worthy of being on the list though so albeit Training Day is ripe for the gif game - it’s not a buddy cop movie and shall not be commemorated.

Eat my ass if you disagree! Shockingly bad take. Basketball is fun to play, but its a my turn, your turn spotfest with weak-to-no transitions. In football, goals are so important. You can be all over your opponent, somehow not score, then they fluke one. Some many possible narratives, dramas, elite storytelling. Luck can win you a game of football, whereas it can't really with basketball. That might make basketball a more "fair" sport in a sense, the "better" team on the day will win more often. But that's not as much fun. It is also why the scoring system in tennis is so important. If it was simply a race to a certain number of points, it would lose so much of its dramatic appeal. Instead it is about winning games and sets. You can "play better", win more games, yet manage to lose a match. That pain, those losses that feel unjust are what makes the wins mean so much more. Ice hockey? When you need slow-motion replays to see what is going on most of the time? At least it has goals being significant, but not much beyond that. Next you'll be telling me baseball is a great sport. No ass will be eaten either.

Strobe is throwing BEISBOL under the bus!? *slaps on Dasher Hatfield mask and grabs a soapbox* Promo voice: "Baseball requires just as much skill as SOCCER, if not more! I'd rather wait 5 minutes just to see a 95-98mph fastball get line drived than watch 5 minutes of tea-drinkers just passing the ball!" In all seriousness though -- they're both highlight sports. I love baseball with all my heart, but let's not act like either are terribly fun to sit through in their entirety. I think foreigners would appreciate baseball more if they actually played it. (Americans playing either sport) Soccer: ... Do we ever stop running??? Baseball/Softball: ... Hell yeah! I've got time to drink my beer!

In no way am I besmirching the skill required to play baseball. But that doesn't make it fun to watch in the slightest. And I obviously massively disagree on football/soccer being simply a highlights sport. Some of the best games you can watch are 0-0s. An attacking team constantly attempting different modes of attack and a resolute defensive performance with both individual and collective greatness. Swells of pressure with intensity of play and crowd noise rising. Constant movement, unable to take your eyes off the pitch. A 45-minute half seeming to go by in the blink of an eye.

Man, I really feel like the soccer thing is really a love it or hate it deal. Wonder how much hangs on getting into it early? What Strobe just described in his last post sounds miserable and like something that absolutely would not go by in the blink of an eye. Sounds about as miserable as watching golf or car races on TV. Or Baseball, to be fair. From what relatively little I've seen of it, I'd be willing to amend my previous statement about hockey and offer up rugby in its place as the greatest team sport. It seems to take all the best parts of soccer, football, and wrestling and combine them into a hard-hitting, action-packed, generally high-speed game. Toss in the pre-match hakas or whatever and Samoan bad-assery, and it seems like some highly entertainin stuff.

I've heard pre-internet, Europeans had so few options for entertainment that they'd resort to things like reading books and having open and reasoned discourses about thought-provoking topics. Those poor saps!

Rugby theoretically is a great sport but it's overly-technical with teams largely playing for penalties or turn-overs.
Rugby League on the other hand cuts out a lot of the boring scrimmages and has a similar flow as Gridiron. Unlike Rugby, there's a limited amount of tackles which forces teams to run the ball and gives each game a nice flow. It's also jam-packed with superstars like 20-year old David Fifita.
Fifita just got offered a STAGGERING $1.25 million a season by the Gold Coast Titans who happen to be the local rivals. It would make him one of the highest paid players in the game, I'll be pissed if he leaves, especially after the Broncos bailed him out of a Bali jail cell - Nathan Jones style.

What's the difference between rugby and Rugby Leagues? Are they not playing the same core sport? Or is it like baseball and softball, where they're similar but different? Or maybe a better comparison... freestyle wrestling vs. greco-roman wrestling, where they're both technically wrestling but also wildly different.
Now I'm wondering if what I watched was rugby or Rugby League? I feel like it was a world cup-ish type setup pitting countries against countries... and games felt SUPER fast.

Now I'm wondering if what I watched was rugby or Rugby League? I feel like it was a world cup-ish type setup pitting countries against countries... and games felt SUPER fast. They started off very similar, but over time have become very different.
At first the only major difference was that it in League it was 13 a side and they had a play the ball instead of a ruck. Instead of players piling on each other like they do in Union, in League everyone has to get to their feet and play resumes when the player in possession rakes the ball back to the player behind him.
Now there's limited tackles, the defence has to stand 10m away from the play the ball, different scoring systems and scrums aren't really contested in League.
You probably saw Rugby. It has a far bigger international presence, with club competitions merely serving as a glorified trial. Rugby can be good, but by and large it gets bogged down by all the rucks and penalty goals.
Union is dying in Australia due to the nature of the product and horrible mismanagement. All the star talent keeps getting poached because the clubs cannot afford to keep them. It means Rugby are constantly targetting washed up or reserve grade players to make the switch.

All sports are limited by their rules and this results in both positives and negatives on it as a watching experience from a personal perspective.
Rugby, league and even union, can be entertaining but I find myself often being more impressed than entertained by rugby. Incredible physical prowess, athleticism and toughness but due to the limitations, lacks the artistry that you get from the beautiful game.

It's always difficult to get into an international sport, especially one as big as football. It isn't like Gridiron where you have the Superbowl as the big attraction, there are just so many different tiers with internationals, champion's cup, domestic etc. I know in Australia hardly anyone gives a toss about their A-League side and would much rather follow what's happening in the Premier League. The Superbowl is such an amazing draw card for the sport. I never thought Gridiron would click with me, but then I saw James Harrison's pick six and that was the first time I started having second thoughts. I just don't know how anyone can follow a competition like the NBA or the MLB religiously when there are so many games and they happen to be played around the same time. In the NRL, there's no tv clashes, you can watch every match live from Thursday through to Sunday. In the AFL I think they only have one clash during the weekend which isn't bad for a 20 team competition.
Do any of you get fomo from your sporting comps?

You mean like a little bit of tricky hacky sack footwork? Or more along the lines of the Shakespearean acting when one player barely grazes another?

Artistry? You mean like a little bit of tricky hacky sack footwork? Or more along the lines of the Shakespearean acting when one player barely grazes another? All that hacky sack footwork indeed. And that perfectly timed dummy. Or the pass that splits an entire defence. Diving and feigning injury is an unfortunate issue with football. It leads many to call footballers soft (there are some of course as in all sports), when they aren't. They are just cheats. Like pretty much every professional athlete. They will exploit the rules to their advantage. Just so happens that in football, exaggerating contact can be greatly advantageous. Like when rugby players try to exploit the blood rule using blood capsules or cricketers use sandpaper to rough up the ball. Play acting is actually seen as part of the artistry of the game in certain cultures. If you can con the ref into thinking you were fouled and win a penalty or get an opponent sent off, that is good play. And of course, those who condemn it, are still typically happy when it benefits their team. Just like with a violent player. People always love their thug or their cheat.
