Jesus, what's with Wisconsin killing black men this year?
Good on Wisconsin's sports teams. If the whites can't behave themselves, no sports for them!

WNBA games were also postponed, and Naomi Osaka has withdrawn from her WTA semifinal match tomorrow.
It's great to see athletes banding together to continue to hold authorities to account and demand change. What a seismic year 2020 has been.

Maybe the time is finally right for pro wrestlers to protest together to get that long sought after union!

Yet it seems like the ones suffering all year are the ones who aren't rich or talented AKA the average joe. One big avenue to get away from the attrocities this year has caused! This just encourages more social interaction and for this virus to get worse if anything. Thank god for video games, that's always a reliable form of entertainment to go away from. That and wrestling.

Too bad less fortunate families don't got that for them. But then again i don't treat these athletes as anything more than..... Athletes. Not heroes or anything of that realm. Kids still do though but who cares.

I think what irks me the most is LeBron leading this group in this decision, it comes off as so phony. I respect at least Kyrie Irving and Jaylen Brown willing put their careers on the line to do social justice. LeBron has 100 of millions of dollars he can swim around in that he's earned but has the luxury to live off of for the rest of his life, a bunch of teammates and kids on other sides? Nope. LeBron can do whatever he wants but he knows the boycott of the rest of the season will have a domino effect that he won't feel a blip off of.
Excellent player on the court, absolute phony/fraud off it. Forget the China hypocrisy, he bangs the drums on this stuff for his brand and because he is stable and then some. He could give two shits if role players or 14th or 15th men can make a living off the NBA or not, not his concern. I was on his side of returning to the bubble if the protocol was done properly but this just seems very being against the grain because he can.

I mean this is a completely wank argument regardless, but Bucks player Sterling Brown was beaten and tased by cops for illegally parking a couple of years ago - so the idea that athletes are unaffected or immune from racially-motivated police brutality is obviously not true.

To be fair, Lebron had a great chance of taking the title home. Given that he has 3-4 years left at most it's not a small thing to give up. The only thing Lebron did that really pissed me off was his complete hypocrisy regarding Hong Kong.

🤯 this 'unarmed' black man was a child rapist by the way. Guys like RT and c will never vocalize that because it doesn't fit their agenda. By the way, let's give the rapist a military funeral as well. Why the fuck not? And I'll gladly take a Dallas versus Utah/Denver/Houston WCF. Fuck the Lakers and Clippers. Two teams filled with divas (although I love Kawhi) and ring chasers. They can all suck a dick. Milwaukee, too. They're not getting past Boston anyways. The real torture is the poor Orlando Magic and Portland Trailblazers that could have literally been sent home yesterday to their families, but were forced to stay inside of the bubble.

I mean this is a completely wank argument regardless, but Bucks player Sterling Brown was beaten and tased by cops for illegally parking a couple of years ago - so the idea that athletes are unaffected or immune from racially-motivated police brutality is obviously not true. Was more so in regards to the Virus and the awful healthcare system that the average joe has going against them and the testing that favored athletes and celebrities when this first came about in March(Me actually being one of the people who did not have the luxury of getting tested). Unemployed people who lose their jobs due to the pandemic but don't have multi million dollar paychecks they can do whatever with. Essential workers who carry 10x as much importance as these celebrities and are just as vulnerable to the virus itself.....if not more. The "We play for you nurses and doctors for all that you've done!" commercials the NBA or other sports showed falls on deaf ears after this. Seems phony. These athletes were businessmen and women and nothing more. And what negotiation would these players going to have yesterday? "Pay us more and than maybeeeeee we will finish out the season?"

I think the agents probably spoke a vast majority of these guys and told them the money that would be lost and the non-Lebron's AKA the ones who don't have the financial luxury want to continue and earn whatever they can. EDIT: Good on LeBron upon that following post by pduh.

Does it make their gesture empty? Maybe, but they drew attention to it, and that was the ultimate aim.

I particularly enjoy the “shut up and dribble” mentality. Leave the politics to politicians! You know and truck driver , school teachers , plumbers , taxi drivers , unemployed people and everyone else on the planet who discusses politics aside from athletes.
People are just jaded they don’t have the same platform to talk about their beliefs.

Players run the league, and it's on the commish for letting the agents and entourage of these stars to pull the league like this. Players using the power that they've evoked. They can do what they want, I just don't think of them as some sort of heroes or inspirations for doing this. They are businessmen and women and are looking out for their best interests in a business that can and will chew them up and find someone else fresher when they have a bad year or injury or something. They feel what is going on is wrong(Which it is) and are trying to show what they are able to, I just think money talks at the end of the day for plenty of them(Understandably).

Until the commissioner can do something interesting enough for millions of people to want to watch him, go to arenas to see him, and buy merch for him he’s at the mercy of the players. This era has just figured that out better than prior ones.

Add the NHL into the mix. All games tonight and tomorrow cancelled.
Apparently the Vancouver Canucks reached out to Ryan Reaves and that's what started it all.
