Just as long as you don't go Newcastle, you'll be alright with me...
It is tempting. Not because of all their brand new oil money or to spite you, but mostly because of old Shearer highlights and their ale.
Sunderland or Middlesborough btw? Black Cats would actually make for another great choice.
Come to the good side of the NE, Sunderland. I mean admittedly, both Boro and Us are playing some good football lately. Boro doing well under old Manchester United player (as their manager of course) Michael Carrick, and Sunderland doing exceptionally well in their 1st season back in the championship with a very, very youthful side.
I do like how you're looking into each team, without assuming anything, I'd guess you're from the US, and would have said Leeds, due to the US connection, but Marsch is gone...and I feel for the US players in that team now.

I actually started watching Sunderland Till I Die not too long ago and do have a soft spot for them. Beautiful grounds with an awesome fan base.
The only big club I could really see myself rooting for is Liverpool, and that's mostly cause of Klopp.
American for sure. Ngl the learning curve sucks, I'm just now grasping tactics and other details but just barely. My perspective on the sport definitely changed after the World Cup; I'm a bit obsessed now. Barely even watched the NFL playoffs this year lol.
Dammit, everything is telling me it's Spurs... I guess I do hate myself. Either way, I'm rooting for Kane to lift some hardware at his career's end one way or another.
Confirmed that investors linked to the Qatari royal family will bid for Manchester United tomorrow, which is weird....why wait?
Anyway, I see the MLS have a deal with Apple TV, so does that mean I can just sub to that and watch it there? or does the UK rights still go to Sky Sports?

It all sounds a little fishy to me from the little bit I've read and watched. Not a fan of them myself but United supporters deserve a hell of a lot better. Just hope they're not trading one family of scumbags for another.
Incoming tangent: I really wish both the Prem and the MLS had the 50+1 rule like the Bundesliga, but then again you'd probably just end up with leagues full of RB Leipzig's over here anyways.
It's a damn shame (though not surprising) how much it's been stripped away from every day people and becomes just solely another pre-packaged commodity, minus any of the actual soul. I can definitely see why some people prefer going to watch non-league matches in person.

I feel like non-league matches are like minor league baseball in the States, in that it may lack the huge stars of the biggest league, but it's more affordable, and generally, more fun.
Part of me wants to see Luton Town gain promotion to the Premier League, just to see the tiny, on its last leg Kenilworth Road hosting Premier League games before they move into a new stadium. But also, part of me wants to see Millwall gain promotion to the Premier League, just to see the uneasiness their fans can cause for the big clubs. Hopefully one of them goes up.😂

Probably a great comparison there. I'd love either of those options; Blackburn Rovers would be a nice throwback, too.
Luton Town kills it in all aspects imo: - Awesome name - Classic crest with an awesome silly hat - Good kits w/excellent color combo - Homely old-fashioned grounds
Confused American sidenote #1776: It's wild to me that Millwall - a team with a trophy cabinet that would make even Spurs chuckle - still harbors so much hate in the modern era. That's gotta be more fueled by oldheads and the ever so sterling British media.
It'd be like my country uniting together for once just to shit on Kent State's basketball team just because they wanted to be dicks about Vietnam.
Millwall are hated because of their fans. They have a reputation for racism and hooliganism. Chelsea and West Ham have similar reputations, but Millwall has been profiled quite a bit in movies and TV over the years and they’ve just by default become synonymous with poor fan behaviour.

Millwall's past, with it's fan starting riots in games against Luton Town and West Ham, as well as other hooliganism, have stuck it with a bad reputation for sure. Some of it is unwarranted though, like Gavin Grant, after being convicted of a murder, lead to a BBC head line of "Former Millwall Gavin Grant convicted over murder", even though Grant played his fewest games with Millwall, and wasn't even playing for them at the time of the murder.
So I'm just now watching Dennis Bergkamp highlights for the first time in my life and it was a gotdamn revelation... Hot damn... I'm like, 30 years too late to be a fanboy.
Meanwhile my childhood ass was stuck with only memories of the shittiest version of the MLS and an exposed sports bra in the Women's World Cup... Stupid America *huffs*.
fun fact; Canada just won its Concacaf Nations League A group. And now, based on current fifa rankings, we will now skip group stage in the next nations league and go straight to the quarterfinals of the next nations league, this is a very fair sporting concept. I'm sure the fact the quarterfinals are used as qualifying for the super duper mega copa america 2026 has nothing to do with giving the top four ranked an easy path to the big time money tournament.
Dammit, everything is telling me it's Spurs... I guess I do hate myself. Either way, I'm rooting for Kane to lift some hardware at his career's end one way or another.
Update: Brighton won the Prem fandom for several various reasons.
For lower leagues and maybe in general though, it's gotta be Plymouth Argyle. I love everything about this club: the colors, kits, crest, fans - all the way down to the US connection with the pilgrim/mayflower imagery.

Cool to see Wrexham back in the EFL, after 15 seasons out. Does suck that Notts County put up over 100 points as well and are stuck in the playoff, but hopefully they can win it and get back.

The best scenario would be both going up. Notts being a non-league side is truly criminal given their history + the size of their grounds. Especially when you have a squad like Rochdale stinking up the joint.

Just realized I never answered this but meant to.
Not sure about the SkySports end but you can only watch select games for free via Apple TV. $13 a month (£15-18?) for season pass if you don't wanna deal with blackouts. Pretty annoyed because everytime I try to watch FCC I can't and have to settle for another match instead. Tempted to say fuck it and switch to Peacock but the Prem is pretty much wrapping up soon anyways.
wrexham getting so much attention is wild. Fucking ben foster
The Hollywood ownership of the club has done pretty well, in at least turning around their misfortunes.
Considering Rob McElhenney is one half of the owners, it would be cool to see an episode of Always Sunny called "The Gang Buys an English Football Club". I could see the Gang being confused, thinking Wrexham is in England, instead of Wales, and some disappointment when they don't get to play Man. United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, ect. in their season.😂

...Confusing "football" for the American variant, they soon fire their physio and the remainder of the staff (because they don't know REAL football) and thus begin training the team themselves. A "kick about" soon becomes a "fuck around and find out" game of full tackle catch.
24 hours later: *the gang concedes 3 points via forfeit because they now can't field a healthy team and inevitably all get red carded when forced to go onto the pitch themselves*

Then with the Wrexham supporters getting pissed and stalling a game protesting on the field, the Gang realizing how messy the situation is, decides to sell the club (probably to Ryan Reynolds, just to fully tie it together😂)

I watched this video recently, of a person attending Stockport County vs Rochdale. While I know relegation is tough on fans, I did find the section chanting "you're not fit to wear the shirt" kind of funny, considering Rochdale has always been a 3rd/4th tier team during their whole time in the league. I mean, it's not like they had a long run, dominating the top flight, then hit a bad 10 year stretch to fall to non-league. It kind of feels like a fan of a single A baseball team getting pissed and saying the players don't deserve to be on the roster, because they aren't major league level talent.😂

Rochdale have been a football league club for over 100 years, so to be relegated out of the football league is unthinkable for them. They have more consecutive seasons as an EFL club than Man United do as a Premier League club. Those players are not fit to wear the shirt.

Watched this recently as well. It's sad given their history and level of support. I don't think there's anything even close to that here in America. Hopeful they can reinvigorate next season and be promoted soon.
One of my regulars at work is originally from Glasgow and we hit it off talking about footy a few weeks ago. Came in last night and now we're making plans soon to go grab a pint and watch a Celtic match. Just wish we had planned it sooner, the Old Firm is on this Saturday.

I've always kind of wondered, is it a little hard to be a fan of club in Scotland not named Celtic or Rangers? Considering it's usually the two Glasgow teams winning the league every year. I feel like it could be disheartening for some of the clubs in Scotland that have some good history (like Hibs, Aberdeen, Hearts of Midlothian, ect.) I guess that's just apart of sports though.
Kudos to Notts County on going back to the EFL. While they couldn't do it on point total alone, they deserve it from their playoff run, since they had to play their hearts out.

True. It kind of sucks they're such giants, rubs me wrong as an American, but hating on Rangers is pretty easy. I wish there was more parity in a lot of leagues. A salary cap would go a long way, but I imagine there's some conflicting logistics involved (ie, greed?).
I do have a soft spot for Aberdeen as well, considering their nicknamed the "Reds" and the great Ser Alec Ferguson (who also played for Rangers and was done dirty) originally managed there.
Happy for Notts. It's a shame that City is probably gonna win it all in the Prem, it'd be an awesome and unpredictable year for EFL otherwise. Was really pulling for the Gunners or Man U down the stretch. Props to Baby Thor Haaland on being an absolute cheat code this year and breaking the goal record though.
I went to my first European football game whilst in Rome, it was absolutely incredible. The atmosphere was truly next level, fans in there singing pretty much nonstop from about 45 minutes before kickoff. When Lazio's captain Immobile came out to clap the crowd (he'd been in a car accident earlier that week and no one was expecting him to play) I've never heard a pop like it with everyone yelling CIRO CIRO CIRO - I had no choice but to get a shirt with his name on the back!
Hot damn that's awesome, HR. What a cool experience. I'd probably be happy for any kind of European footy in person -- even if it was the damn Belarusian 3rd division -- but Italian top flight? Psshft. TAKE ALL MY MONEYS.

I got my wish, as Luton Town are going up to the Premier League. It'll be cool to see Kenilworth Road hosting Premier League games before it gets replaced with the new stadium in Luton.
On a side note, hopefully Lockyer is doing okay after the situation earlier. He was at least responsive before being taken to the hospital.
