Didn't get to see the game yesterday but I heard Canada outplayed USA last night but they gave up the 20 second goal and could not muster an equalizer. Will take it, I think Costa Rica is better than Jamaica given their track record(Costa Rica are missing few of their top talents IIRC) so it helps to finish 1st in the group stage. Canada has gotten much better over the past few years, I think you guys can one up Honduras for one of those CONCACAF representing spots for the next world cup for sure. I think the 5th place side plays one of Africa(Or was it Asia?) side for a spot in the world cup too.

I have been watching much of the Gold Cup, Qatar is really fun to watch, didn't know what to expect from the World Cup hosts and Asian confederation side. A lot of good precision passes.

Canada is without Davies and a few others so fair to say you guys are putting our a B team, USA is without McKinnie, Pulisic and a few others as well, might be the C side. 

That first goal was deflating. Brought bacl flashbacks to the 4-1 loss in the 2019 nations league game in USA. Even usas b team is so much better than haiti (our last opponent)

I haven't watched the games but have been following along. I'm psyched for the world cup games in Sept.

Gold cup quarterfinals are today and tomorrow. All ver interesting matchups. Other than Qatar, (i hate guest teams in the gold cup), these are the top Concacaf, games should be good enough for even non concacaf fans to tune in to.

Qatar is going to give the B/C teams of USA and Mexico a legit fight. They look really dangerous up front. They've been the most fun side to watch all tourney long honestly.

It looks a very real possiblity they win the tournament. MExico and USA have not looked their best this tournament.

Sounds like Varane is only a matter of time too (and at a bargain price too if the rumours are accurate). This will easily be United's strongest team since Fergie, DM is really the only weak spot now.

Canada made it to the Gold Cup semis so that's fun. Really hoping they make the finals at least. Be a huge momentum boost for them going into the WC games.

Mexico will probably kick our asses though. As is tradition.

You guys looked much better than USA did last night, sucks your going to be down a couple of guys due to injury & yellow cards but I really want to see you beat Mexico. Still a heck of a job to shutout Costa Rica regardless.

Yeah they've been playing around the world to prepare for hosting the world cup. They were in the previous Copa America as well and would have been in this year's as well, along with us, but COVID postponements of the Asian qualifiers meant we both had to withdraw.

Wasn't the great game I thought it'd be but USA after a lackluster 1st half really went after Qatar from the 60 minute onward, the missed penalty kick by Qatar I think destroyed their confidence. A lot of sloppy passes from their back, USA created pressured and earned the goal there. That Qatar side is much better than what they showed, heck of a win by the US.

I didn't say anything about the US game but this Mexico/Canada game has been pretty bad with the reffing. I don't think that is a penalty on Canada there. Both semis have been brutal.

EDIT: Justice for Canada, equalizer and get shafted on a 2nd iffy penalty but the GK makes the big time save.

This is getting tiresome with the racist gestures with the Mexican fanbase. Not all do this but this is the 3rd time recently with them. 2nd time in this tourney alone.

What a shame the last minute Mexico gets the game winner, Canada did well this tourney either way, nothing to hold your head down on.

Refs have lost control of this game honestly, it's highlighted over the game.

Great tournament from a non full strength team, looking forward to the world cup qualifiers

This really young and inexperienced US side played their asses off and got a late goal to take this one in extras 1-0! I would say the subs brought juice for the US side because Mexico had this in possession and in control for 40 minutes until late in the 1st half where the US side began to get some stuff going on. The US defense played their asses off all tourney long really, this was a real good win all things considered over Mexico. Big time win. A lot of these under 25 year olds have a lot to be proud of, this was truly a collective effort by so many guys. Everybody was apart of this Gold Cup win. So many 1-0 wins, so many nailbiting moments, these guys played their asses off. All but the Martinique game has been a 1-0 victory. Big time showcase going into the WCQ's for this side. Back to back over Mexico in less than 2 months in big tourney games for CONCACAF! Beat two really solid sides in Qatar & Mexico(Even if not full strength), didn't expect this at all. 

Congrats to the US. Ride this high while you can because Christine Sinclair is gonna make your women's team cry tomorrow!

Hey thechoke and anyone else who wants to get involved - I've been thinking of a way to reboot the old Prem Predictions competition that doesn't involve quite so much arithmetic!

Here's what I've come up with - there are two parts.
First is a 3-2-1 confidence prediction - pick three teams that you believe will win this week. If they win, you get the points according to your confidence, #3 nets three points, #2 nets two, #1 nets one. There's one slight catch - if you pick a strong favourite (I'm measuring this as a team that is paying $1.30 or less by my bookie) and they don't win - you lose the corresponding amount of points.
Second part is more straightforward - you pick any player who you think will score that gameweek - if they find the back of the net that's two bonus points.

My predictions are 3 - Man United, 2 - Leicester, 1 - Villa. My goalscorer is Bruno Fernandes.

Jeopardy favourites are Chelsea and Liverpool.

I know this is relatively late in the game so if you don't get around to this until after the Brentford/Arsenal game, don't worry, you can still enter for the first week. Just pick from the other 9 games.

Sorry I don't think I explained that particularly well! By jeopardy favourites I meant they are the teams that are the sub $1.30 favourites - so if you pick them and they don't win you get the minus points. Basically it was just a rule I came up with to discourage from being boring and picking the same teams every week. By my reckoning we both got 7 this week.

Made such a difference having crowds back, and the adjustments to VAR reviews appear very positive so far. Man United were absolutely sensational against Leeds - if they can keep that sort of form up this season they'll run City close. Some of Pogba's passes were just magnificent.

On the title, I think Chelsea are best placed to challenge City, I think Utd will finish either 3rd or 4th, for me they need to show a greater tactical awareness (other than counter attack against the bigger teams) and in Europe. I get why they’ve backed their manager with a new contract but I don’t believe he is able to get them to the next level.
