I gave this show a shot as I hadn't watched AEW in a long time. Nothing I saw made me want to change my mind, that was really bad.

FTR should have went to NJPW, they are suited and better for that once a month sort of Takeover style match where you come, see them work in the ring and get very scarce promo work out of them and that is that. They were sold a bill of goods with this FTR vs Young Bucks supermatch and they are teasing it and teasing it and teasing it but the problem is I just think fans care less and less about it for when that the time does come that the said match happens(Which heel Bucks vs face FTR kinda stinks), it will be good but it will have lost the luster it once had the minute FTR came over to AEW.
It's the same thing with The Cleaner, they have him on commentary half ass it and they keep it going week by week where people don't care if Omega is going heel or not. Maybe he shows it in this tourney but who the heck knows.

As far as I'm concerned, FTR is this overrated tag team that only found their hands on the title becuase they were able to drive a wedge through the Elite. The Jurassic Express, SCU and the Best Friends are all better teams, but FTR resort to lame 80s tactics and they're holding this division hostage. Perfect description of FTR. Couldn't have said it better. Also did you see the finish? The referee had to act like a complete moron for it to make sense. Yeah, but New Japan have done so many of that flavour of finish recently that I'm becoming immune to it. Grossly incompetent referees are a new trope of pro-wrestling. Gotta live with it. It was fine but I thought the finish sucked. If you're going to protect a monster, I find having the babyface cheat to win to be far more effective than having them lose on some fluke roll-up. Royal Rumble 2007 is a great example where the finish makes the match and actually helped put Umaga over. Unless they're planning on doing a Archer/Moxley rematch ASAP this buried Lance. Did it really bury Lance? Moxley barely survived and even his desperation finisher the Bulldog Choke barely had any impact. I understand that the finish made Lance look like a bit of a goof in the way he got rolled up but that's not the whole story. Having a big monster guy be susecptible to rollups is pretty common. Whenever Bad Luck Fale faces Okada or Tanahashi, they pretty much always win by a "fluke" rollup. Even Archer himself has taken some losses in that way in Japan. Keeps the monster aura alive.

They would have meant well with the finish, but it's such a dime a dozen move that it defeats the purpose. They wanted to protect Archer but now we know he's susceptible to amateur moves even when he's well and truly on top. I don't think it helps Fale's star power and it just makes Archer look like a shmoe.
Especially if he tucks tail and doesn't go right back after Moxley. Biggest match of your career and you lose to a crucifix as a bad-ass monster?
