Miro pulling out his first singles win in 9 months!
And Taz spitting fire about the ranking system and why doesn't Brian Cage have a title match as the #1 ranked fighter

How is it that we have Young Bucks vs FTR and Omega vs Page on the card and the match that feels biggest and is most exciting is between Jon Moxley and a guy that showed up two months ago

If they had an entrance with Hangman taking drink from trhe crowd, or drinking with the crowd. My custom wrestler would be all over that.... no matter how long and dramatic Cody's is.

The main event programme should be the biggest deal, and it's a credit to Moxley and Kingston that they achieved it.

And Omega/Page might be AEWs longest running storyline.

Good go-home show.
Guevara/Ortiz vs MJF/Wardlow is the first AEW tag team match I've watched in full for a very long time. If you put all the MJF/Jericho goofiness aside, I think the core of this build has been pretty good. MJF wants in the Inner Circle. Jericho sort of does and sort of doesn't want him, but all his Inner Circle buddies can't stand the guy. Jericho calls out that MJF doesn't have the killer instinct, calling him soft and challenging MJF's ego. I like it.
Sit down interviews with Omega and Page were decent. Nothing amazing but they sold me on their match.
Miro's first AEW singles match was impressive. I think he's done a great job of distancing himself from Rusev, both as a character and as an in ring performer. He really feels fresh. Same thing Moxley did after he left WWE.
I like Taz calling out the office and the ranking system. Brian Cage is shit though, isn't he? He has a great body and that's it. No presence. No menace. He can't talk. He's a mediocre wrestler. Fuck him.
Speaking of shit, Jericho is an awful commentator.
It was hard for me to take Kingston's great promo seriously with his nose squished against Moxley's  Moxley with an awesome rebuttal. This match is super intense.
PAC is so fucking good. The only must-watch wrestler in AEW. Wonder who produced that video for him over in the UK?
Nyla Rose and Vickie Guerrero, on the other hand, are the opposite of must-watch. They have go away heat with me. I'll still watch Shida vs Rose but with no particularly great expectations.
Why is Billy Gunn main eventing shows in 2020? I don't know, I don't care. Didn't watch. Decent promo from Cody to close the show.

And this is not just my opinion but fans of these guys but the other matches contain at least one person who really can't cut good promos. After the event most likely Omega vs. Page will do better then Moxley/Kingston. Young Bucks I really have no idea how it will do but I am sure it will leave a lot disappointed no matter how good it is or isn't.

In TNA you put over your accomplishments in WWE. In AEW you put over your accomplishments in NJPW. That what I got from Omega. Page doesn't seem like a cowboy. He seems likes a guy that lived in the old west. Maybe a sheriff that drinks too much then leaves time until a cowboy/hero of the story shows up.
So tried of everything best friends I skipped.
Taz is the man. Cage isn't the worst big guy limited mic skills but he probably is the worst in AEW. Archer and Lee are a class above him on promos. And he hangs around Taz and Ricky are both amazing on the mic.
Jericho can be hit or miss on commentary.
If you look at the promo without sound and didn't know the story Moxley definitely looks like the heel here.
Pac is... actually 100% agree. I was going to ask someone to tag me if he showed up live last night. But their was no one posting here.
Nyla doesn't need Vickie. And they both have been gone for ages. I don't think either is bad but it more I just don't care.
Billy needed his son to get a win on actually tv. Cody needs a bigger entourage so a little you scratch my back I scratch yours. Back to Taz earlier point The Gunn Club is undefeated at 9-0 and unranked.

Probably because The Gunn Club beat a bunch of nobodies on Dark. Just like Ricky Starks beat a bunch of nobodies on Dark. Maybe the ranking of the people you beat influences your own ranking?
Then again, who has Brian Cage beat? Yet he's #1 on the ranking system according to Taz?

Then again, who has Brian Cage beat? Yet he's #1 on the ranking system according to Taz? That is true Ricky Starks only notable win is against Chris Daniels. He lost to both Cody and Darby. And the other 9 wins are dark jobber padding. Overall 10-2
And Taz didn't lie by the ranking system he is at the top at 10-1. I think the battle royal counted as one since I can only find 9 of the wins but look at all of these quality opponents he has beat. Brian Cage defeats Fuego Del Sol (2:45) Brian Cage (c) defeats Will Hobbs (9:09) Brian Cage defeats Megabyte Ronnie (3:08) Brian Cage defeats Tony Donati (1:48) Brian Cage (c) defeats Brian Pillman Jr. (2:28) Brian Cage defeats Jon Cruz (1:25) Brian Cage defeats Robert Anthony (0:54) Brian Cage defeats Shawn Dean (1:38) Brian Cage defeats Lee Johnson (1:15)

I like Taz calling out the office and the ranking system. Brian Cage is shit though, isn't he? He has a great body and that's it. No presence. No menace. He can't talk. He's a mediocre wrestler. Fuck him. He has a ton of presence and menace. He defeated all of the ladder match participants on his debut and looked like a badass doing it. His match with Moxley was very enjoyable. He's not the best, but I think he can deliver big with the right opponents. He has some unique and impressive moves. The deadlift suplex while standing on the bottom rope is amazing. He clearly is not a mic wizard, but Taz covers him well and his fuckboy smile when he says he's the best is just enough to sell him pretty well as a heel. The lack of promo skills may even help his character, since he comes off as big dunderhead to build heat. He still looks like a threatening beast. The only problem I see here is he has had zero real matches or buildup since losing to Moxley, which is all the fault of booking. Speaking of shit, Jericho is an awful commentator. HOW AM I THE ONLY ONE COMPLAINING ABOUT SCHITAVONE! People are pissed about every other commentator somehow and not the piece of garbage in the chair. I don't get it. Jericho is insanely better than that guy, builds up hype and excitement for every match, and is funny. Fuck. Why is Billy Gunn main eventing shows in 2020? I don't know, I don't care. Didn't watch. Decent promo from Cody to close the show. Oh come on, that's not really fair. Billy is pretty terrible at wrestling right now, but it was just a throwaway tag match where he was well covered. And it's like the first time he's even been on Dynamite. He did fine. He was also there for his son, who seems pretty talented, to get a big win. I felt it was a nice moment. And definitely special for them. I hope Austin starts to build some actual character since he's a bit bland right now, but maybe that will come if they keep this push up.

Sure Brian Cage did all that but it takes a lot more than being big and throwing a bunch of guys around while pulling an angry face to impress me. Wrestlers like that are pretty common. Unfortunately Brian Cage has little more to offer. Lance Archer does all that too, but he has a unique charisma, can cut a promo, and he's proven he can work great matches in NJPW.
Schiavone is shit, sure, but he's the kind of announcer who is so bland and uninteresting that it's easy to tune him out and focus on the match. Jericho yelling and screeching, on the other hand, is actively annoying and makes me want to turn off the video. I can't tune out Jericho. If you're going to be a bad announcer, be like Schiavone and stay in the background. He's basically AEW's Michael Cole, except I don't think Michael Cole is that bad. He's the AEW shill with the artificial emotion who is easy to ignore.
I'll concede that my comment was not fair to Billy Gunn. Good for him and Austin.

Catching up on this episode, that opening match was such a mixed bag. I thought they had an interesting dynamic with the Inner Circle playing the defacto babyface group and there were elements of it there but it was largely an under-developed match that in modern wrestling fashion over-stayed it's welcome. They could have played more into the dynamic and had more story-telling and trash talk. There were certainly elements there, the spot where Ortiz bit MJF and MJF bit Ortiz back was neat but it got lost in all the bland wrestling. Both MJF and Wardlow largely spent the time methodically working over Ortiz arm with pretty basic moves. That dragged on for minutes and a lot of it didn't look impressive because Wardlow and Ortiz are both pretty green. There was one spot where Wardlow intercepted a hot tag and rammed Ortiz into his corner rather softly. He went to ram him again, but Ortiz wasn't in position so it looked clunky. The eventual hot tag was nicely built up with Ortiz hitting a desperation enzuguri but the execution was so sloppy. Ortiz knocks MJF loopy, MJF stumbles into a tag, Wardlow grabs Ortiz into a German, but Ortiz does a foot stomp which Wardlow, one of the biggest beasts in the company has to sell like a goof. It was just an unnecessary spot, have Wardlow charge in, but Ortiz gets the hot tag off in time and Guevara ducks the clothes and blasts the big man out with a big dropkick. That jumping knee Guevara does looks odd. It's like he's trying to make it into a superkick variation where he slaps his thigh as he's hitting it, but it looks like he barely grazes his opponent when he hits it. Later on Ortiz again hits a sloppy looking springboard dropkick that Wardlow has to awkwardly sell and position himself on the ropes so Ortiz can come over and clothesline him over the top. It reminded me of that Erick Watts dropkick, at least in terms of the trajectory of the kick. The production on the GTH save was poor as well, that was a good nearfall and they spoiled it by keeping it on Wardlow the entire time as he broke up the pin. Tower of Power spot just made Wardlow look silly. Why wouldn't he save MJF in that situation? There was a way to make sense of it, with MJF carrying on like he's the brains of the outfit constantly capitilising on Wardlow's acumen and it gets to the point where Wardlow hits the spot anyways because it's easier. You could have a wrinkle where MJF is like what the hell, then Wardlow points to the two guys on the ground, MJF then slaps him on the shoulder like 'yeah good thinking buddy' and you go from there. More Guevara indulgence as he tosses MJF outside and hits a springboard 450 axe handle that looked sloppy as anything. A simple baseball slide would have looked far more effective. Matt Hardy doing the Jericho thing where he dresses up as a luchadore blasts Guevara with the chair. Back in the ring, Ortiz attempts to pick up MJF, but he locks in the Salt of the Earth armbar for a fairly weak finish. I think they had some good ideas, but you'd have to take the sum of it's parts to formulate a good match. What stood out to me is just how a lot of the offence hasn't been established yet so 80% of the match was difficult to get into. I think Guevara's performance summed it up, he hit all these moves but most of them just looked awkward because it's too stylish and not practical enough.
I had similar issues with the Bucks-Party match. It seemed like they wanted to tell the story about Matt's leg, but constantly under-cut the drama of the situation by having Matt still get involved. It was also a weird dynamic where Private Party have to play the heels despite being the giant-killing underdog babyface tag team. You could have easily put the Dark Order or the Butcher and Blade in this spot and done it where the Bucks score a fluke win but they're in all sorts leading up to their big PPV clash. This match if anything killed a potential big time title defence where Private Party have the wood on the Bucks and they're ready to establish themselves as the best tag team in the world. With Matt involved, it basically writes itself. They'll come back to it, but the story could have been that more effective if they wrote it properly.
The main event wasn't terrible it just felt like I was watching a Nitro main event where Diamond Dalls Page teamed up with Paul Orndorff and Nick Dinsmore to face off against Billy Kidman, Horace Hogan and Sick Boy. Not terrible, but just odd when the pay off is a US Title match is DDP vs. Juventud Guerrera in a completely non-related match.
