I'm excited for it. I read a post on the IGN page, saying that at a small town Target store, they had only six NES Classics available when they launched. And this time around, they said that there's gonna be at least 25 when the SNES Classic launches. Gives people like me, who didn't pre-order, some hope to walk up and buy it.

We're only a few days away now from the release of the SNES Classic and impressions are beginning to surface. So far it appears that the biggest story to come out of the launch is that the Super FX chip hasn't been emulated perfectly. They've had to appropriate it in some cases, notably in Yoshi's Island where the transition in Touch Fuzzy Get Dizzy is different than the Super Nintendo version. In the original, whenever you'd touch a Fuzzy the transition was seamless, but on the SNES Classic everything bar the background disappears for a second. So you're not getting the 100% experience, but it's still 99.99%.
The other story is that it appears hackers have discovered that the same tools they used to crack the NES Classic works on the SNES Classic so you should be able to add to the software library from the get go. The question is, do you give into the temptation? I never had a NES Classic so I'm not sure how well it emulated other games or how reliable hacking the unit was, but if it's compatible, I wouldn't mind following the progress of that scene.
Who else is getting one? I've got to wait a few days which is going to suck but once it arrives I'll get stuck straight into it.

If I don't get one immediately, will my chance be gone forever? In general I'd still prefer to get an original SNES, but having all those games at my fingertips from the start is pretty awesome.

It depends on when you want one. If you want to get one on Friday, then your best bet is to line up at one of your big retail chains first thing and try to secure the copy. In Australia, Big W and Target are selling the system on Saturday. Every Big W will have stock, but at Target they're only selling at select stores so make sure to check what the situation is like over there. Otherwise, just wait for the next batch of pre-orders. Nintendo have said they will continue to manufacture the system well into 2018 so you shouldn't miss out on getting one at a later date.

I like the novelty of it and would look nice on display. Most SNES are probably stained due to wear and tear. Sadly I'm not obe to fight over it so unless it was on a shelf I would be going without. Coming in 2022 Wii U Classic.

So my girlfriend got one of these for her daughter. Waited two hours at Walmart to have it sell out by the fifth person, she was sixth. So she slept in front of Best Buy from 1am to 7am and got the first ticket.
For the same price, and no time waited, I got my girlfriend a Retropie for X-Mas. Same day delivery off amazon. Looks almost the same as it is in a Nintendo case and uses SNES controllers, with a 360 controller for more advanced games. Loaded it with the games on the classic systems, all the Mario games and Zelda games released for all pre-Wii systems.
Convinced now that anyone who is buying this these Classic systems are literally tossing cash away given how easy a Retropie is to make. 100 bucks for everything too, without the Nintendo case and controllers can cut it down to 60.

It's like your Mom giving you a popsicle from the freezer when all the other kids get money for the ice cream man. It's still a frozen treat, but it's not the same!

I went with the intention of searching for one at Best Buy today. Instead, I ended up leaving with a new television from their two day weekend sale. I'm waiting to use it for my new place, and hopefully upgrading to a 4K PS4 in time.

I stayed up late last night watching youtube channel Outside Xtra live-stream some play on it. It looked pretty damn good, major nostalgia trip.

Props to your girlfriend, sounds like she's a good mum. The thing here is that the SNES Classic wasn't strenuous to buy. I didn't have to wait around the clock to buy the SNES Classic, as soon as it was announced I was easily able to pre-order the machine hours after it had gone live on the EB Games website. For $120 AUD, I could legitimately own 21 games and have something that others are interested in experiencing. If I set up a RetroPi, unless I set it up as a handheld or as an arcade machine, nobody would really care. What really sold me on the machine was the two licensed controllers. I've bought these third party knock offs and they never feel right. Maybe they've gotten better but usually there's input problems and everything feels cheap. With the SNES Classic, I've got two controllers which I assume are going to be good. I had no interest in the NES Classic, but if the controllers had a longer chord and weren't so difficult to buy I would have bought two NES Controllers. Regardless of whether I bought or didn't get the machine, I'm just glad some of these retro games are in the limelight again and younger fans have a legitimate way to experience these games instead of longing on EmuParadise or having to rely on the Wii U's shoddy emulation.

The knock offs I got feel dead on. But I also used the big controller (the fighter design) growing up so not really a selling point. Ports allow for the original controllers to use though on the RetroPi anyway. I hated the SNES controller (and really all Nintendo controllers) and plan to just use a 360 controller.
For people who did get this, like the NES Classic it is flashable, so you can add games to it. They also believe that you can run the NES emulator on it and are working on having this work as a dual system. So if you are brave, it can be a lot more than it is now.

Rocked up to the local BIGW, waited in line for 20mins. Easy.
I would love some DLC for this thing, I'm sure they could do it.
NBA Jam would have been great.

Remind me to never pre-order Nintendo items again.
Ordered it to be delivered, which of course since it was a weekend meant that I couldn't get it until at least Tuesday due to a public holiday. I've been up since the crack of dawn eagerly anticipating the machine and nothing nadda except an automated message from the post office at 7 telling me my item will be delivered today.
With any luck I may have the machine tomorrow...if not two weeks from now when the post office decides to mess around and deliver it two streets down again.

...and not long after my post the package arrives. PW must have some members with some pull, either that or I'm just an impatient sook.
Just booted up Yoshi's Island and sped through the opening world. One thing I will say is that it's a lot harder to abuse save states than it is on the SEGA Ultimate Collection. I'm sort of glad since it would have been jarring to see additional buttons on the control but it wasn't what I was expecting.

Two games down on the SNES Classic.
Super Mario RPG - Mario's first foray into the genre was a smash hit. Square found the perfect recipe taking the motifs of the Mario series and concocting it to their own adventure. The game constantly subverts your expectations and it's infectious creativity makes you want to what comes next. The game never over-stays it's welcome, clocking in at around 12 hours and there's enough side-content there to get your money's worth. A classic RPG, if you're a fan of Square you've got to check this out.
Super Castlevania IV - Even 1991, the concept of the soft reboot wasn't foreign for game developers. Castlevania IV is a souped up Castlevania that borrows from 5 years of progress in the platforming genre and adds a few technical quirks that were only possible on new hardware. Castlevania is an amazing series and IV is far more accessible than any of it's prior entries but if you go in expecting the magnum opus, you're going to be disappointed. On the brightside, if you want to get some crunches in, the SNES Classic is a great trade off. I lost track of the amount of times I had to reset my state moving forward, I can only imagine what sort of work-out Super Ghosts n Ghouls will provide. I'm keen to check out Rondo of Blood and Bloodlines to see what Konami learned from Castlevania IV.

I actually never played Super Mario RPG. Plan to play it really soon. Thankfully I have frameskip set up, as I realized I do not have the patience for the pace of older games.

One of my favorite games ever. Plus it was the first time I think Bowser revealed his personality.

Bowser is the highlight of the game. One of the cool design choices is when you storm his castle and enemies flee if you have him in your party. The game is filled with cool details like that.
Final Fantasy VI - I've played through the opening 30 minutes or so of this game around 3 or 4 times but never gone on with it. A JRPG is a huge commitment and usually it was a game I'd turn to out of boredom or on a one night rental when the PS1 version came out. 4 hours in, and I'm hooked. This game does not hold up, it uses it's game mechanics well to immerse you in the story and it goes down some very dark paths. I just entered the section with Gau and so far this game is well and truly living up to the hype. It's also been kicking my arse. I set the battle speed up to the fastest, which is more or less a difficulty setting so I was dying every so often.
