It got me thinking about Benoit and creative. Like did he just show up and do whatever creative wanted? Like you never heard stories (to my knowledge I know he was frustated in wcw) of him butting heads with Vince and the writing team in the WWE. Tell me I'm right. Loyal soldier until the end. Makes me wonder if there were possibilities to go elsewhere in 04 kinda like today (AEW or Japan) and say Eddy left, would Benoit have bounced too? Like he didn't strike me as a guy who needs the spotlight. He seemed like as long as he was featured and could GO in the ring he was happy to do whatever because he had a friend like Eddy. Like a year later he went crazy.

Like Rock here is in better shape than probably 99% of the planet and yet he looks weak and scrawny compared to Fast and Furious Rock.

Resuming WMXX... Considering how Vince feels about the talent involved in the Jericho/Christian match, I'm surprised it not only made it onto a WrestleMania card... But that it's got so much fucking buildup too! When you combine the build with the match quality this had to be the best 'Mania midcard thing WWE had done since.....X7? Didn't they start announcing Benoit from Atlanta?
Maybe they only wanted heels to be from Canada.

Yep. I remember this too. It definitely happened. I was a big Christian guy and when he won here I genuinely thought there was big things in his future. Like I bought into 2005 so hard. And then Jericho gets the singles match. LOL. I came around later than most on Christian. Didn't get the hype until I went to a Raw taping in November 2004. Christian was in a lowly Heat match but he had the crowd in the palm of his hand and just came across as a total superstar. He had "it." Considering he'd wrestled each in high profile singles matches at the previous two WrestleManias, what if Jericho was in the triple threat with HHH & HBK for the WHC on the undercard? Then I get my Lesnar/Benoit II in the main event. Feel like Jericho & Benoit still works for that hug spot to close the show if you want. I don't think you can leave Eddie out of the major title mix. I'm pretty sure his frustrations in WCW were directed towards Kevin Sullivan and Sullivan alone. They had heat over the whole Nancy thing and I remember a dirtsheet rumor not long after I got online in early '98 that Sullivan was overheard telling people Benoit would never hold a title in WCW.

Randy was still kinda new and wasn't a world ender quite yet.
I always did that that "it was 3" thing he did. Any wrestler really. No ref is gonna be like, yeah know I think you're it was 2.8.

In that case, assuming Benoit/Angle and HHH/Taker and Vince/Shane are upper midcard matches, I think Y2J/Christian is the best midcard midcard match since maybe HBK/Matador at WM8... Unless I'm blanking on something? And if we include buildup as well, it's maybe the best since the midcard trifecta of perfection at WM7 of Jake/Model, Boss Man/Perfect, and DiBiase/Virgil?

I think he was interested in Brock/Goldberg. Despite us being a WWE family, Dad hated Austin and liked Goldberg.
