I watched WM20 dozens of times. Recorded it on VHS... yes even then. I'm not gonna rewatch but will live through replying to 🤯 's watchalong.

Michael Cole just said Big Show retired Hulk Hogan in Madison Square Garden!?!? Can anyone fact check this absurd claim? I had no recollection of this and thought you must have misheard Cole. But from Wikipedia... "Big Show, Shelton Benjamin, and Charlie Haas defeated Mr. America (a disguised Hulk Hogan), Lesnar, and Angle in a six-man tag team match when Big Show pinned Mr. America. This was Hogan's last appearance as Mr. America. For several months afterwards, WWE hyped up Big Show as the man who retired Hogan." Should have trusted PI. That will also teach me not to doubt Michael Cole. #ColeMiner

Man, they really should've just gone with Cactus/Orton from Backlash at WMXX. Would've felt so big time.
Also, this is making me realize we sort of got Rock vs. Big Dave in a showdown of Hollywood hot shots. Would've loved that as a singles match at a WrestleMania post-GotG.
/////
And now another signature WrestleMania four-way tag. Guaranteed to be the worst. La Resistance and Cade & Jindrak should've gone their whole careers without appearing on a WrestleMania card. And what a sad use of RVD & Booker T. But at least RVD got on the real show this year.

RVD's slingshot into Booker's super kick makes me wish they'd been more of a longer lasting team.
But what to call them?!

I didn't realize Orton was punting people as early as 2003. Me neither. But I'm not going to doubt you again. I watched WM20 dozens of times. Recorded it on VHS... yes even then.Same here. Only I'm not sure I ever watched the full show more than once. That show had A LOT of pointless filler. Though I did watch the five big matches a couple of times. Fun Fact: WM 20 & Backlash 2004 were the only pay per views I ordered alone at home until that Aldis era NWA show with the TV Title tournament. Benoit & Slick Nick drawing those Baker dimes. Epic find. And fucking love the hash tag. #ColeMiner! As a man of integrity I must give credit where it's due. The Cole Miner thing came from CM Punk. Definitely his greatest contribution to pro wrestling. High Times is the best I've got. I'm terrible at naming things. But RVD's proclivity for the wacky tobaccy is well known while WWE's new, more stringent drug policy was allegedly one of the reasons Booker left the company in 2007.

Fun fact: I never liked Eddy. Not at first anyway, but this match with Kurt got me on the wagon finally. And of course they jobbed him out to JBL not long after lol.
I was so on board with the idea he would beat Big Dave.
Then he died.
I've since gone back to really appreciate his work, but those first few years I snubbed my nose at Eddy. That's how good a heel he was. Even a super smark that likes all the bad guys hated THIS bad guy.

Resuming WMXX...
Considering how Vince feels about the talent involved in the Jericho/Christian match, I'm surprised it not only made it onto a WrestleMania card... But that it's got so much fucking buildup too!

Two WrestleManias removed from WMX8 where he cut a promo about moving to Florida as fast as he could, Christian is back to hailing from Toronto.
LOL
Maybe he just winters in Tampa, and summers in Toronto?

Maybe they only wanted heels to be from Canada.
Am I remembering this right?!?

Think you're right; will confirm when I get to the main event. ///// Is Christian with the haircut WWE's Norm MacDonald?

Christian looks so awful shirtless.
I never thought he was ugly in the face, but man his body is kinda awful compared to guys we usually see on top. And his shitty tights... no wonder Vince hated him.

I'm tired of seeing the Northern Lights suplex into a bridge into a backslide counter after kickout spot at WrestleManias. It hasn't made anyone look like a skilled wrestler.

I was a big Christian guy and when he won here I genuinely thought there was big things in his future. Like I bought into 2005 so hard. And then Jericho gets the singles match. LOL.

Considering he'd wrestled each in high profile singles matches at the previous two WrestleManias, what if Jericho was in the triple threat with HHH & HBK for the WHC on the undercard? Then I get my Lesnar/Benoit II in the main event. Feel like Jericho & Benoit still works for that hug spot to close the show if you want.

It got me thinking about Benoit and creative.
Like did he just show up and do whatever creative wanted? Like you never heard stories (to my knowledge I know he was frustated in wcw) of him butting heads with Vince and the writing team in the WWE.
Tell me I'm right.

Oh, that's not the finish that I remember.
I thought Trish blatantly turned heel as part of the finish, not post-match.
