It'll be interesting to see why they chose to spoil it. I presume they wanted to get this out of the way to create some suspense but I feel Show could have worked better as a surprise run-in for a short term program.
I actually don't mind the move on the face of it. The Big Show returning to the WWE in 2021 would be beyond stale at this point. However, Paul Wight back on TNT actually holds some appeal and I feel if he was presented properly he could be involved in some worthwhile segments.

Another WCW relic is with AEW, this really feels like the later 90's WCW. I don't get it from a standpoint that AEW doesn't have proper TV time to showcase everyone.
I do think Show if given a chance in a very very very small spurt can show better with the chains unhooked but I am shocked he did that to WWE. Jericho must have really fought hard and I would not be shocked if Show is teamed in Inner Circle, specifically with Jericho to reunite 2021 JeriShow.

Oh Wight is being signed on to do commentary for the rumored 2nd show for AEW later this year, that's cool I guess. Guess if you team him with Mauro if they can somehow get him that would be a good team. He might initially wrestle but may transition to agent backstage/commentator.

So The Giant/Big Show signs with AEW as Wrestler, Commentator & Ambassador. If he's only wrestling to put people over short term, then I'm ok with that. I'm all in(no pun intended)with him being a Commentator & Ambassador. I thought Vince would have given him the Ambassador role since he's well known.
I just have two questions: 1) When did he get released from WWE? 2) Isn't Sting AEWs Ambassador?

I assume this is a Big Show will do what Big Show wants contract. Rumors were WWE was cutting his contract his each year and the final blow was them wanting to give him a legends contract, which allowed AEW to grab him way cheaper than they had any right to. Not sure why he is going to be doing commentary, but he is a great guy to have in the back for sure.

I just have two questions: 1) When did he get released from WWE? 2) Isn't Sting AEWs Ambassador? Since Night of Legends WWE and him have been arguing over contracts. The last few times WWE resigned him, it was for three years at a pop for less and less. Now they wanted him on a legends contract that would have slashed his pay severely. He was pretty pissed at the last few years of treatment being off of TV and working for a fraction of what he used to. AEW Ambassadors are not likely a real thing. Odds are when signing startup again they will be showcased there and they will be sent to the media to talk about their signings. But I doubt it is much more than that. Also I suspect Sting's contract REALLY changed over the last few months. Sting getting 100 percent cleared to wrestle is game changing. Plus it sounds like Sting is working with guys in training too as he gets back into ring shape.

Likely could not hide it after WWE moved him to Alumni instead of Legends. AEW gets to frame the story this way instead of the internet or WWE.

Yeah I would not be shocked if Shaq was what got him in the end. He has been wanting that match for a while. Pitch that with cash and backstage work and it would not be very hard to entice him over while WWE was trying to push him out.

Big Show cameback for a one off vs McIntyre last year post WM because WWE was pushing and funding his comedy show on Netflix, makes me wonder if that isn't being renewed for a 2nd season, especially with WWE having their grip on Peacock and all now.
Would be stupid if he was still shooting "The Big Show Show" that was being funded by WWE and doing AEW shows.
EDIT: Ah the show wasn't renewed for a Season 2 by Netflix.

Yeah no way WWE is letting him keep the name. He will just be Paul Wight at this point so he can cross sell whatever.

I wonder if he will be allowed to use Paul "The Giant" Wight or something. Curious who gets to use theirs and who doesn't.

Jericho and Dustin Rhodes were both used prior to WWE and they did not sign them over. WWE owns The Big Show, Goldust and what two dozen or so of Jericho's nicknames though.
On a related note, Jericho is trying to trademark Corazon de Leon. Likely going to see him become the Lion Heart again.
As for Wight, he can use The Giant, as there have been so many people called the Giant over the years, no one can conclusively lay claim to the title. That said, why would he? This is a great chance to rebrand to his legit name. Since his future is not likely in the ring, selling his real name will be super important to him.

Good to see AEW investing in the future.
Ok, before people get carried away. Fans have been begging him to retire for years. Being in AEW doesn't change the fact, he's a slow, old giant who can barely put on a match anymore.
There I said it.

Good for Big Show I guess.
Given how long he's been in the business, one would think he has quite a bit of knowledge, that can be passed down to the younger generation.

Say whatever you want but Wight had an excellent match with Mayweather ages ago, he is 1/1 with celebrity matches. He outright took a clean punch from Money, think he got a broken nose from that.

The Mayweather match was around 10 years ago now? Back when Show was an active wrestler and could still put on a good match now and then.
Yeah an argument can be made that he can work a good celebrity spectacle match, but I'm not really convinced.

I agree with you on that. Hey while we're at it, here are my top five The Giant/Big Show Matches: 1.ECW: Ric Flair vs Big Show Extreme Rules Match for ECW Title (ECW 11-07-2006) 2.WWE: Big Show Vs. Brock Lesnar Vs. Kurt Angle for the WWE Title (Vengeance 2003) 3.WCW: The Giant Vs. Randy Savage (Fall Brawl 1996) 4.WCW: The Giant Vs. DDP (Starrcade 1998) 5.
WCW: The Giant Vs. Sting for the WCW Title(Slamboree 1996)
